I have felt blessed to have Brian’s music in my life since I was 16. I’m now 28 and I have grown with his music as the soundtrack to my life. I’ve listened to his music through happy times, sad times and all times in between. He is a true talent, and these insights to these songs bring so many memories back. God bless you Brian. Please never stop creating and playing.
been listening to him since I was 9 when 59 Sound came out. 22 now and I feel like every album has, at some point, hit just as hard as that first one did. So happy that he's showing no sign of slowing down yet.
@@chewiecovers I found them in between the '59 Sound being released and the American Slang release. I will never forget the night I listened to the '59 Sound as a 16 year old. It was the best musical experience I have ever had. I have been hooked since then. Through Gaslight to The Horrible Crowes to Molly and the Zombies to now his solo stuff. I will never not be a fan.
@@tjj794 same for me, I was doing pizza delivery at the time and I constantly had 59 sound on every time I got in my car, I went and hunted down a copy of sink or swim and señor and the queen, then American Slang came out 2-3 months later, I was introducing all my friends to it, and when 45 was first played on the radio over in the uk I was going on stage with my band and made them wait just so I could hear and get an idea of what to expect on handwritten, there are 2 artists who have had a massive impact on me, Billie Joe armstrong made me want to pick up the guitar and Gaslight introduced me to soul, bruce and the whole blue collar rock movement
Was scrolling through the comments to see if anyone else commented on that tune. Was my favorite of the stream. Really illustrates the pain of love with no destination.
This is still important in 2022! Mr Brian Fallon is one of the most important poem maker, musical person and overall a good guy! Thank you @Brian Fallon
It’s interesting that he had so much to say about almost every song, but just played Dark Places and moved on from it without saying anything. I can imagine that song is probably incredibly tough for him to play.
9 Years since this album came out, honestly every song is a masterpiece, I know Brian doesn't like them as much as the others but Selected Poem and Dark Places are two of my favourite songs ever written
My wife (who I have been with for 20 years but married like ten years ago after I was able to move to Spain) and I were going through a rough patch when this came out, so it was very poignant. But things worked out for us. Our first daughter was born a couple months after Painkillers and our second daughter was born literally TWO HOURS after Sleepwalkers was released; it was the first music she heard. We lost two babies inbetween (one right when Local Honey came out, which I didn't want to listen to precisely because of how painful it was). Our third girl is due in one month. But two weeks before she's due my wife and I will be going to Fallon's Madrid show (May 13th), which had been rescheduled twice because of Covid. Life is full of twists and turns, but Fallon's music has been with me and my family through them all and we keep rollin' and tumblin'. For nearly two years during Covid my 6yo and 4yo asked for "Stay the same" (meaning "Mae") for a lullaby at night. Truly priceless moments.
It's my favourite of TGA song. It's amazing. I can never figure out why it never made it on to an album. It may have been written late in the process and they couldn't find a place for it.
And underneath the tyranny of August and her sons. Who set fire from their fingertips, In the holy vow of a teenage kiss. Now we’re much too old for this, I don’t feel those kinds of things. So don’t you cry for me, I used to feel everything.
This was so cool sincere and deep all at the same time....I couldn't stop smiling or just being slacked jawed the whole hour and a half. Thanks Brian you da man.
Damn.. I think I was was 15 when this came out. Love this stream, I sadly missed it, but really wanted to see it. So, thanks for sharing so I can enjoy it now :) !!
Brian this is amazing!! Thank you so much for sharing. I’m a huge gaslight fan since sink or swim. This has truly been a blessing to witness. Love you and wish you nothing but great things.
I have been waiting for you to upload this! I did watch it live, but did not get to rewatch it over the weekend. I now can listen to it in my classroom. Again, thanks so much. You made my day!
Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for posting this. I love it so much. I am listening to it on a laptop computer without excellent sound but I loved Gaslight Anthem and I saw them live a bunch of times and this is just so cool Thank you.
When u have a dream with Brian Fallon in it...and wake feeling like it was real lol so u have to hear his voice and come to y.t. to see and hear him play. 😊🤘🏼
The thing about becoming successful is that you require a new relationship with you, your girl, and your audience. As one of your audience, I offer my unconditional support, because I love music the way you do. You have the feel, man. Despite all this defeat.
Thank you for uploading this!! It's interesting to hear him talk about why he wrote these songs and how he was feeling at the time. I love Brian Fallon's music so much because of what it means for me and how I interpreted the lyrics in regards to my own feelings and situations at the time. I love how his songs can mean one thing to mean and something completely different to someone else. Those are the best writers in my opinion.
Even though you see Beats on all kinds of athletes and celebs I've always kinda been like..."Those people don't know anything about music, I'll stick to my Audio Techincas..." Me now: If they are good enough for Brian, they are good enough for me!
Pretty sure he was tuned down a whole step. Mamas Boys is in standard tuning, so the fact that he had his capo on the second fret indicates he was down a whole step
Get Hurt is everything. It tore me apart and reconstructed me. It never gets old.

We must have found gaslight around the same time then, I discovered them when I was 18 and I’m now 30
Damn that makes me feel ancient

Had him in my music non stop since 2012
one of the most underrated artist - poet song writers of the last decade.
100%
Waited so long for a well recorded acoustic version of Dark Places, so I can cry harder than the original lmao
That rendition of Stray Paper tore me up inside.
the intro alone really set the tone... tore me up as well.

Such a deep thinker, and a kind spirit. It shows in all he does. Be well, Brian.

This record came out when I was going through a similarly difficult time. Brings me right back.

@@BikesAndBatallas I used to sing Mae to my son at bedtimes when he was about the same age as your daughters. Starting them young!
Can't believe the whole world isn't lining up to listen to this!
That simile about paper..... I'm bawling. Love you Brian.
A true talent to pull us into that vortex.
I hope things are better now

I’m so glad I found this! Thank you! I love this album, and I needed this today. This was a gift!

Who is that originally by?

What a great set 👏🏻 Brian’s real and people can relate to his lyrics and stories.

Such a good song writer

This is such an underrated album, so many great songs!!!
You are a good friend.
Forever the summer going into my sophmore year of college.
How about publishing a book or two of lyrics?

Fuuuck. This is awesome.
Halloween on piano is fuckin sweet.
Are you even a Gaslight Anthem fan if you don’t sing the backing vocals on the second verse of Get Hurt & Mama’s Boys?
This is my favorite album of theirs and it hurts me that it’s Brian’s least favorite.
Stray paper I feel it too
If anyone could tell me where I can find some piano tabs of the songs he does here, I’d really appreciate that
Reuinion would be good. If not, this is pretty good too.

Pretty sure he was tuned down a whole step. Mamas Boys is in standard tuning, so the fact that he had his capo on the second fret indicates he was down a whole step
Does anyone know the chords he’s using for Dark Places?
Anyone else notice he doesn’t wear his wedding ring anymore? Has he divorced again?
