I watched this video about 8 years ago in Grade 5 Science class. I am now studying Civil Engineering at the University of Waterloo. To say this video inspired me would be an understatement.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO A VIDEO ABOUT ALL THE ENGINEERING BRANCHES. YOU ARE THE ONLY CHANNEL I TRUST TO THINGS LIKE THIS. PLEASE DO GRANT MY REQUEST :(( THANKS IN ADVANCE THOUGH
Mrs. CliffWinHoodMings We would absolutely love to! Our only barrier to creating that content is funding. We are currently considering a crowdfunding campaign to help make it possible. Thanks for your enthusiasm and encouragement!
Can't thank you enough for making and posting this.Used it to sell engineering to a group of high quality 15/16 year old Physics students who were unsure about engineering and this totally sold it to them I would anticipate a significant uptake in engineering degrees from them. Thanks Philippa
Engineering is applied math and physics. Plus stress. Engineering a lot of fun, until the managements gets involved. Bring coffee and a dark sense of humor. A social life is optional, very optional.
Design engineer, Electrical engineer, Structural engineer, mechanical engineer, aerodynamics engineer. I work in aerospace. Aerospace engineer is a broad term that does not define the field of expertise.
'Engineer' is pretty much synonymous to 'design', though as a profession it also extends to the people who refine already existing designs and materials. This broad definition is why two Engineers can have very little in common when it comes to the work they do; one Engineer may design aircraft with expertise in physics while another can create new shampoo formulas with expertise in chemistry and biology. Really, an engineer can be anyone that works with materials or designs something... narrowing it down to pretty much any job in existence. Even a garbageman can be called a sanitation engineer.
Every bit of your plane has been touched by engineers: mechanical, mechatronic, chemical, mining, electrical and software engineers. In fact, almost every type of engineer except aeronautical.
Aeronautical engineering is just a branch of mechanical engineering. The same goes for chemical engineering, mechatronics engineering, materials engineering, etc.
We're trying to demystify the engineering profession, particularly for young people. In Australia, and many other countries, we have a shortage of engineers and of people studying maths, science and technology subjects at senior levels. We're hoping this video will help inspire people to study these subjects and consider becoming engineers.
This is so fabulous! I was looking for an introduction to what engineering is for my 7/8th grade science students tomorrow and this is perfect. Thank you!
First off, I love this Australian accent :') And I had no idea that's how they built our Burj Khalifa, and yes, our temperature do reach 50 degrees x-x. And I love the way this video was presented, it looks amazing!! Now I'm a new freshman to study Sustainable and Renewable energy engineering..It's something that I believe in, but I'm not much of a practical problem solver,, nor am I that interested in computer programming.. does that matter? Any engineers out there to share their university experience and say what are the challenges, advantages, and any piece of advice? Should I even study engineering, or change my major to something else?
Hi MrVman321, Engineering is a really varied profession and your work-life balance will depend greatly on your career choices. Different employers have different employment conditions and work cultures. Also, it will depend on the type of engineering role you move in to - management, consulting, research, field work, public sector, private sector etc. But it's certainly possible to have a successful career in this profession and maintain a happy and healthy personal life.
Lol. The problem is often "this is wasting too much money" when you're actually an engineer... but when you look for root cause, yeah, it's always interesting and inspiring to solve it.
Hi, looking at mechatronics engineering at university (UK) starting 2015. Can anyone recommend any channels/other videos to give me more of a starting point or anything like that? Even mechanical/electrical engineering too, just anything! Thanks a lot!
Hi Regina, I'm really sorry but we don't have a tapescript we can share. I hope the video is still of interest and use for your English Classes. Thanks, UoN Engineering
this is the first time ive ever seen anyone mention Mechatronics outside of my class. i'm in Mechatronics and whenever i tell anyone that, nobody knows what it is. in reality though, we can do most of the things mechanical, electrical and software engineers do.
I'm a Saudi Arabian and my dream is to become an aerospace/aeronautical engineer. I just realized that Australians call an airplane aeroplane lol. Well you learn something new everyday! Thanks for the video, I loved it! ^_^
Hey. I myself am an engineer from Russia. Can I give my opinion, which will help you? Your choice will depend on several factors. Money is very important. If you have more than $ 30,000 for each year of study and knowledge for admission, choose America and Europe - the best universities (MIT, Stanford ...). If you have almost no money, then the choice is Russia, for example, the best university, Moscow State University is about $ 5,000 (300,000 rubles) per year. There are also famous universities in Europe - in Zurich (ETH Zurich), also in Germany and France with their great engineering tradition. Alternatives are Asia, China and Singapore. But I can say that there are differences in teaching. If you are not motivated, then no prestigious university like Oxford will ever make you a good specialist.
Awesome, but it is a very idealistic view of engineering :P If a new invention threatens a large market it is hidden, but as an engineer in training and a proud idealist, I want the future to be free of greed even more than I want all cars to be electric haha. Great video!
Currently pondering on how to make highly focused sun beams evaporate water for gaining work through boundary expansion. I know it's gotta be possible... just how to do it..
Maybe if you put a potent amount of water into a molecular canister made regenerative petroleum and focused solar energy onto the water you could achieve the results you desire.
Habla de como un ingeniero puedo resolver un problema , y que toma ideas locas o no tan convincenetes , que llegan a resolver el problema, al que se enfrentan .
firstly ı love the video. thank you for your effort. ı have to do a video like this but ı don't know how can ı do that. can anyone explain how ı can make it and which program can ı use
I always liked math and science but also like other subjects in school. I'm currently interested in studying engineering in college but whats holding me back is my fear of being consumed by work. I simply want a job that I can enjoy, help the world, make a good salary, but also have time for a personal life. One day I hope to have kids.If I'm sucked into my work I probably won't be the best dad. Do engineers have a good work/life balance? Anybody got any info/tips?btw interested in mechanical eng.
Great video! Love your story telling technique with the illustrations. Problems solvers is exactly what we are :) Engineering in every moment of life. Cheers!
I always thought I'd never do engineering because i have bad '3D' shapes thinking and I rely a lot on trial and error. But everything else about it sounds perfect for me (I'm here because i've been told id make a great engineer) What sort of engineering would I fit into?
Veritosophy, Being able to think and problem solve in 3D is like math, you have to practice it to become good at it. Before I can suggest an engineering discipline, can you tell me what your hobbies are?
I don't have any hobbies. My life since school (3 months ago) has just been working and modifying stuff on the computer at work to make it better, eg macros + barcodes combinations. I like to mostly be alone learning by watching videos and reading. I see people when i go to the beach or hiking, which is at least once a week. I'm always asking questions and learnign from everyone I talk to. All my hobbies my entire life have just been driven by wanting to create, improve, and most of all, curiosity.
I watched this video about 8 years ago in Grade 5 Science class. I am now studying Civil Engineering at the University of Waterloo. To say this video inspired me would be an understatement.
Wow James! That’s awesome to hear.
So after the 3y, how do you think after all
Congrats on your achievement!
This cartoonist is great! Awesome presentation overall. :)
iorbit it's computer generated.
;)
You're computer generated.
It is shit
We're really glad you're loving this video! We agree that engineering is an amazing profession.
30 LIKES?! NO REPLIES?!
Pretzel what is this music...??

Mrs. CliffWinHoodMings Yes please that would be very helpful
Mrs. CliffWinHoodMings We would absolutely love to! Our only barrier to creating that content is funding. We are currently considering a crowdfunding campaign to help make it possible. Thanks for your enthusiasm and encouragement!
UON FEBE Well tell me when you make one so i can donate.
Yes, that would be awesome!
+Mrs. CliffWinHoodMings Please don't forget Renewable Energy Engineering :D
Can't thank you enough for making and posting this.Used it to sell engineering to a group of high quality 15/16 year old Physics students who were unsure about engineering and this totally sold it to them I would anticipate a significant uptake in engineering degrees from them. Thanks Philippa
Philippa Wallington That's great Philippa - we're delighted it's helping young people get excited about engineering!
you made it seem complicated, just wack something with a wrench and it'll be level 3 in no time
link055 don't forget those dispensers!
Engineering is applied math and physics. Plus stress. Engineering a lot of fun, until the managements gets involved. Bring coffee and a dark sense of humor. A social life is optional, very optional.
oh.
Engineers have a strange sense of humor. Don't get upset.
teleporters too!
No mention of aero space engineer when talking planes?
I was thinking the same lol
That's just a branch of mechanical engineering
Design engineer, Electrical engineer, Structural engineer, mechanical engineer, aerodynamics engineer. I work in aerospace. Aerospace engineer is a broad term that does not define the field of expertise.
Aeronautical engineers to be precise.
I found my purpose in videos like these, thank you.
Hey Richard - we're glad you're inspired. What an awesome profession to aim for!
Every bit of your plane has been touched by engineers: mechanical, mechatronic, chemical, mining, electrical and software engineers. In fact, almost every type of engineer except aeronautical.
AV3NG3R00 HAHAHAHA SO TRUE!
Haha

Aeronautical engineering is just a branch of mechanical engineering. The same goes for chemical engineering, mechatronics engineering, materials engineering, etc.
Automation?

Its a great job until the math and physics start to hurt, but anyone can succeed if they work hard and keep focus.
Loren Aguilar just curious why do u think anyone can succeed? Like I said this isn’t an attack , I’m genuinely curious
This is so fabulous! I was looking for an introduction to what engineering is for my 7/8th grade science students tomorrow and this is perfect. Thank you!
Engineering is the application of maths and sciences to create products that solve humanity's problems. Period!
Why u stop making video ?
Great video, helped me understand what Engineering is about. Thank you!
I am a student Civil Engineer at NYU Poly and i appreciate this video.. Good work guys :)

This is outstandiing! Brilliant piece of work! I love my profession!
I've got a question.
Later I want to be an engineer, but if you design something, Will you we able to build it? Also the electrical parts? Thanx alot
Thank you very much for this video, I understood very well the process and the definition of engineering. Thank you very much :)
What type of engineer would engineer the mentioned video game strategies? Anyone answer please
I believe that could be a software engineer
Love being an Engineer, no two days are the same!! Just want to build bigger better faster and stronger.
I just fell in love engeneering!!
What type of math and science do you need for engineering though? Because I only know some math and science.
Is it possible that I get the trsncription of this video?
please I want to ask about the name of the material that covers the surface of your desk
Hi There Hisham!
We used a standard green cutting mat for the background :)
Super Awesome
How many classes/credits should I take freshman year in engineering? How much is manageable? I don't mind graduating a bit later than four years.
Magnificently done! Great job!!!
Thanks very much!
We are glad you enjoyed it.
I am so confused I still don't know what to study in the university and I still have 5 months to decide help me guys with ur suggestions please :)
The best ever seen video for Knowing what is Engineering
Make more videos about engineering, please.
Lol. The problem is often "this is wasting too much money" when you're actually an engineer... but when you look for root cause, yeah, it's always interesting and inspiring to solve it.

Good morning! the video is GREAT!! Do you have a French version of that video.
This video was very helpful since I'm trying to decide what engineer I would like to be
I want to build robotics and work on some type of engine. What engineer is best for robotics and other stuff like that.
Mechatronic Engineering
mechanical or mechatronics
Nice video! Engineering is very important to the world. Engineers help analyze and design ideas that allow us to live in a better and hygienic place.
Nicely made wonderful video!Keep the good work on.
I'm a Saudi Arabian and my dream is to become an aerospace/aeronautical engineer. I just realized that Australians call an airplane aeroplane lol. Well you learn something new everyday! Thanks for the video, I loved it! ^_^

lol wat???
super nice engineering explanation, thanks for helping me w/ my homework assignment. FROM Cuyamaca College in San Diego California
I'm so glad to be a civil engineer!
just found my fav subjects in a job, thank you so much!
Great info for young students!
nice, thinking of taking electrical next year
A great Video to inspire all of us .. and gives us an idea about engineering.
Is material engineering not prominent in the industry?
Who was the speaker/Spokesperson?
Awesome video!!!! I totally agreee with 3nadilag !!!! I want more !

thanks... )
Superb. Thank you
i love this video..,so creative.,thk so much for sharing this video.
Lets talk about the effort exerted on this video
It looks like a job someone has to be so dedicated and so into, and here I was thinking in building something for my own use
Currently pondering on how to make highly focused sun beams evaporate water for gaining work through boundary expansion. I know it's gotta be possible... just how to do it..
Maybe if you put a potent amount of water into a molecular canister made regenerative petroleum and focused solar energy onto the water you could achieve the results you desire.
hy !! i am an agricultural engineer here in pak. are u doing engg ?? if any one mention here
I’ve literally watched this about 50 times soo interesting!!🥰🥰
Please never stop making videos
