Thunderstorm over England, 24th July 2019 - Full storm

A heatwave across England sparked a night-time thunderstorm that affected almost the entire country, in the early hours of 24th July 2019. Lightning and thunder were very frequent on a broad front stretching over 150 miles.
This video was shot from Cheshire as the storm passed over us. The core of the lightning moved to the east of us, but I still did manage to capture a few lightning bolts on camera.

I was in the eye of this storm it was perticularly violent with lightning streaking across the sky 360 degrees around my neigbourbood forking to the ground with strikes lasting seconds and constant cloud flashes for nearly 2 hours. Truly fantastic I have not seen a storm as active as this in these parts for some years.

I stayed up for the entire night, waiting for the storm. It arrived in Lincoln at 1:55 am. The thunder stopped for about an hour at 3 or so am, but carried on again. It ended with heavy rain at 5 am.

This was one of the biggest storms I've witnessed having lived in the UK almost 20 years. I should add this video is titled 'full storm' but this was going on all night not just for 20 minutes.

Here it blew over quickly. The rain continued for hours but within 20-25 minutes the thunder and lightning had all passed over us to the north.

@@RichardB1983 Here in rural Herefordshire, it was going all night long more or less and was so frequent and relentless the whole neighbourhood was just getting brightly lit up every few seconds.

There’s a group chat with me and my friends in it on Snapchat and when I woke up I saw all the messages they sent. They were like “omg I got soaked coz my window was open” and “the lightning light up my whole room. Then my mum came in before she went to work and she was like “did u see that storm?!” And I was like “what storm?!”. I SLEPT THROUGH THE WHOLE THING

I was in the Isle of Wight, and I was staying in a Caravan, and the Caravan was shaking like mad! Well that’s what my brother said. But unfortunately, I was in a deep sleep so I didn’t hear ANY thunder

i was in Bed in Buckinghamshire i was soo Scared coz i Heard the Loudest Thunder and my mum helped me get my Duvet and Pillows so i slept on the Sofa 🤣😂

@@sharkayy1926 Alnmouth by the time it got to us it lost umph maybe a change in the atmosphere about 20 mins long and it seemed more like lightning flashes that thunder.

Great Yarmouth was horrid!We had thunder bolts which can blow houses up!!My nans house was shaking!!I was so scared and ended up in my nans bed the night 😂😂 about 4-5 in the morning
