Our family from Samoa has a history with the Methodist church with my great great grandfather who was a Methodist minister all the down to my uncle who graduated from Pacific Theological College in Suva Fiji. I can see a lot of similarities between our cultures the church hymns brings back a flood of me memories for me I live in Seattle Washington U.S.A and haven't been home for 31 years watching your videos will probably be the closest feeling of being home or ever going back back home for me. God bless you, your family and everyone else
Love learning Fijian culture.

My heart goes out to the family ❤❤Rest in Gods Hands.
Isa burial in the outer islands where there are no mortuary or morgue. If you die today you get buried on the same day. You mourn then life goes on.
Very sad occasion and brought back memories for me. I know were you left off this recording is far from the ending of this funeral which will probably last all day. My condolences to the family and loved ones very sad day for everyone. Nothing like a Fijian funeral although a very sad occasion for all its also very beautiful and respectful. I love the way everyone rallies together to get things done this is very typical of village life.
One of the best Fijian youtubers if not the best. You really capture the Fijian experience

Blessed years ahead, Fiji
Cheers, brass, for making it happen and teaching us this generation how to live life in a simple way even if we dont have money...farming ,hustling everyday to keep food on the table ..most importantly when there is unity and love, families are happy, relatives are happy, life is fun...

How do you choose who drinks the kava first, 2nd etc..
In the hyrachy of the 'Vanua" or Village there is a Turaga or chief, then his Bete or priest, then the Bati or warriors, then mataisau or carpenters, then Gonedau or Fisherman..these ranks are significant in the ranks in a typical Fijian "vanua".. the First bowl will always go first to the chief then his matanivanua or spokesman will "rabe" meaning the second bowl endorses or acknowledge the first bowl that went to the chief.. the third bowl will go to either the bete clan or the warrior, and both will be heralded by their own rabe or bowl endorsing the first..and so forth..in the above the lady who's drinking the first bowl significantly comes from rhe chiefly clan and the second bowl went to the lady from the spokesman clan..and so forth..OR..she may be the eldest of the siblings OR the wife of the eldest of siblings..etc..
@@mydustuch thank you so much that helps tremendously, much love/venaka
