Hi Emma if you put some plastic bottles on top of garden canes and stick them in the ground underneath your nets it will lift the nets above your plants.🤓 Love your vlogs.

Emma, to pollenate your tomatoes in the polytunnel, just lightly tap on the stem where the flowers are open and they'll pollenate themselves. It's that simple. I do that to the ones that are out in the open, too, just to ensure that they are pollenated. The flowers have everything they need to pollenate themselves.

😁🤣 Emma, I kid you not I saw that some people take their electric toothbrush and just vibrate it along the branches. That will make a fun vlog segment. 😁🤣. Honestly though I think just the act of pulling off suckers and extra lower branches is enough jiggling of the plant to pollinate.

I love spending time with you. I should know what to do in the garden, but your "wracking in" plants has given me such freedom to just et on with it! Thank you for being so genuine about "issues"! Meet you here on Wed!

Emma hand pollination is super easy with tomato’s just lightly rub your fingertips over each open flower bud and that is it!

Don't worry, Emma, I have no idea why they asked you about pollinating your toms, just give them a tap in passing and they will pollinate each other. As for blight, there is a web page where you can put in your postcode and you will get alerts when it is in your area. It isn't in mine until September, apparently. It should be a useful guide anyway 😊. Everything is looking fabulous!!

Pollinate themselves even- The anthers are behind the pistil and shaking them a bit will make the magic happen as the pollen falls and sticks to the little tubes

I haven't labelled my tomatoes!!, why because it's me, brilliant,, just give the plants a shake to pollinate them or you can make a video of you catching a bee and trapping it in the poly tunnel, then you'd be to scared to go inside another great video Emma

Your netting looks a bit low in places, try empty plastic bottles upside down on the canes to hold the net up 😃👍

    Emma. How are the buckets?..
Next time you are at the poly tunnel, pinch out the top of your tall tomatoes that will allow the plants to bush up a bit and prevent all the energy going to make it taller than it needs to be
    Cheers for now.

Tomatoes self pollinate. Hoverflies vibrant the flower to catch the pollen as it falls out. The falling pollen pollinates the flower.
    Bees don't do Tomatoes.

Bumblebees and Carpenter Bees pollinate tomatoes. Honeybees can't.

Hi Emma, my I surgest netting your strawbs now (protection from birds) and can also pick just before they ripe so slugs and things don't eat them and let them ripe on a window seal, flavour will be the same. Oh, and you can use tree stakes to tie your poly too. You are doing excellent, all the best to you and your family.

Agreed with other comments here. I never needed insects/bees for pollinating tomatoes. Just wind or just give em a little shake while they’re blooming.

Broad bean risotto is delicious, also use with pasta delicious. To remove the ‘skin’ from the beans, pour boiling water over and leave for a few minutes, easy to pop them out and they are nicer. I’ve harvested all mine now, loads in freezer

Everything looks great!! Tomatoes are self pollinating so they just need a little shake every so often if not enough wind or pollinaters shaking the flower.

Hi Emma the way I pollinate my tomatoes is when I go to them in the morning I do have a window and I can open the door a few inches so as no cat's can get in I give each flower stem a few taps to release the pollen hope this help with your pollination good luck and happy planting ,from a keen Gardner.

Simple broad beans recipe: just boil them without taking the actual beans out as they are and put some salt in the water. You can just have them on their own (I like to squeeze them out). The same can be done for peas, they taste extra sweet. Easy and simple and delicious! With tomato pollination my mum always says to give a bit of a shake.. Had an awful tomato year last year on the polytunnel (blight got them before I got any fruit) so didn't even have to think about the pollination issue :D You win some, you lose some!

easy way is get an old electric tooth brush and use the back of the brush head and buzz the stem just behind the flower, it is the fastest and simplest way to pollinate Tomatoes, and Peppers.
