    I would rather have a 500/4.0. A 5.6 is two stops slower than a 400/2.8. In low light, 4.0 is as slow as I want to be. I was at a college soccer match that the match moved into sunset but the lights had not been started. I was glad I was at 2.8.

      Well - it's a completely different animal. A 500mm f/4 is a much bigger and way more expensive lens.
