Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland’s food scene is diverse and multi-cultural. In this video we’re hunting down some of the best spots for Indian food. We take you into the kitchen of a contemporary Indian restaurant called 1947 Eatery giving traditional flavours a modern bent, tuck into a crispy, light, dosa, a South Indian pancake stuffed with spiced potato at Ras Vatika and find a small family run takeaway- Jai Jalaram Khaman- churning out Gujarati street food classics. What we ate and where we ate it:
1. Samosa chaat, bhel puri, lamb chops and naan at 1947 Eatery, 60 Federal Street, Auckland CBD, Auckland 1010. Open Monday to Tuesday 5:00pm to 10:00pm and Thursday to Sunday 12:00pm to 11:00pm.
2. Butter masala dosa at Ras Vatika, 596 Dominion Road, Mount Eden, Auckland 1041. Open Tuesday to Sunday 11:30am to 8:30pm.
3. Dabeli and bullet khaman at Jai Jalaram Khaman, 39 Boundary Road, Blockhouse Bay, Auckland 0600. Open Wednesday to Friday 5:00pm to 8:30pm and Saturday and Sunday 11:00am to 9:00pm.

1947 Eatery was absolutely stunning, all the flavours beautifully plated the Restaurant ambiance gives the full dining experience. Have to say lm a sucker for the more messy no frills street food experience the Dosa and the burger had me salivating!! Im thinking there might be a part 2 as you hunt down the best Indian food in Auckland!! 👍
This was such a cool one to film. We can't get enough of Indian food so every stop was an absolute joy. 1947 is such a cool place. We love the food there. The dosa was absolutely amazing and the car picnic couldn't have been better to finish on. There sure would be about for a part two. We're spoiled here in Auckland for India food. @@ChasingaPlate not really. i mean.. we have some libanese, indian, thai restaurants. but veeeery few. you count them on fingers. and because of this there can't have food from different regions of the country. but we have turkish spots all over. shaorma not counting because we made it so romanian. if the village has a shawarma place, then it's a city :)) it's the preferred street food in the middle of the day on a lunch break, at night after clubbing, for dinner if you have one near. AND there is always one near :))) pizza and shaorma = romania. these are romanian dishes now. of course there are mici and sarmale and all that :)

The man in 1947 restaurant is using his hands. No hand hygiene. No point using gloves for one hand while touching the food with a plain hand.(no gloves). Disgusting
We travel all over the world filming and bare hands is more common than gloves whether we’re filming in high end restaurants or street food. Studies have actually shown that the use of gloves can spread more germs than bare hands as people don’t change their gloves like they would wash their hands so there’s more cross contamination.
