    She is amazing...a real woman for whom I have the utmost respect. Does her decision to drop out of the 5,000 leave the door open for Parker Valby to qualify now in the 5,000 since she was 4th and under the standard?

    • @repsaknivek
      @repsaknivek 2 дні тому +7

      Parker made the U.S. 10,000 meter team. I hope the International Olympic committee accepts her. If so, there’s no way she should attempt to double in both the 5,000 and 10,000.
      First off, racing all the heats would be too much racing.
      Secondly, this time in history has the most supremely talented women distance runners ever. Parker would have to run the best race of her life - repeatedly - just to make it through the semi-finals. In the 5K she has no chance of even finishing within a half lap of the winner.

    • @lunarkoala2375

      @@repsaknivek this is all probably true but her first time at the olympics is going to be mostly for the experience, but it does give her options and opens it up to what she wants to do. She is ranked 21st in the world rankings before the trials race, which will only increase her stock as a top ranked 10k runner. Personally I think she has a much better chance in the 10 to perform well and progress as a runner but I am just excited to see my wife run in the olympics :)))!!!

      @@repsaknivek Don't tell that to Lasse Viren who not only doubled but did twice with 4 golds. As a guy who barely met the Olympic qualifying time in the 5000M once myself, I realized that my PR would still be a half a lap down which is humbling. Broke my foot and didn't have to find out. Parker is amazing and I know she was second in the 10K, but hasn't met the standard but still might compete (I don't get how it works). But she has met the 5k standard and could be selected since she was 4th??.

    There's a chance to make the final and get a podium in the 1500. There is no possibility of medaling in the 5000 with the Ethiopians, Kenyans and a few other countries where at least 10 runners are 14:25 or better and 3 under 14:10.

      The 1500 m is extremely competitive. too

    • @RCFSULAW
      @RCFSULAW День тому +1

      @@SW-nx4jz In the 1500 the USA Olympic Trials 1500 team is ranked 8th, 11th and 13th. But 5 women in the top 7 are from Ethiopa which brings the women to 6th, 9th and 11th. But 3rd best is 3:53. There is no beating the top 2 if they choose this race instead of the 5000 meters which overlap. Siffan Hissan tried this in the last world championship. The Women's 5K team is 16th, 30th and 48th. If Alicia Monson was not injured she had a possibility being ranked 8th. The top 4 are 30+ seconds better than St. Pierre and over 40 seconds better than Cranny and Schweitzer. This is why St. Pierre is only running the 1500 and Valby can replace her as she has the Olympic standard. There are 3 other USA women that have a faster time than Valby but she smoked them at the Trials. It should be fun to watch. What is weird is the USA women fair better in the 10K..

    Everyone pretends the shoes are one of the biggest factors in all the new world records, but truth it the shoes and track surfaces are the biggest factor in all the new world records. Every distance even has had the world record broken or someone has gotten very close to breaking it and so very many different athletes are all running very very fast. When every second counts having shoes that give you multiple free seconds means everything.
