shame one should go to the doctor if feeling tired not taking supplements you know better
I agree with you on Pan. If there's no evidence that he cheated, he doesn't normally train with that group, etc, he gets the benefit of the doubt. Qin, on the other hand, is another story. He was one of the 23 positive drug tests, and then had the nerve to be offended that people questioned why he was even there at the olympics.
They were cleared by WADA for food contamination, what makes you think you know more than WADA?
Thanks Cody. Caeleb started new UA-cam channel. A collab would be so good!
sounds good to me🔥
It's not a "new" YT channel. He's had it for years, and there used to be tons of videos on there. He deleted everything after his 2022 Budapest meltdown, but started posting new content on it last year.
been watching since 2018, love the content. thanks for being such a big inspo brotha
Another great vid. You inspire me to train harder everyday
For this demonstration of fairness, I resubscribed. It's interesting that after half a year, you are urged to bring this up again.
Hey cody, I started watching your channel 2 months ago and you inspired me to train swimming again.
Thank you for the videos and the inspiration
I do think it’s suspicious how a sprinter like pan can also dominate an 800m free easy and set a world record
he has a background in distance
he was going to chinese nationals for distance events as a 14 year old
@@maximus3294 yea but still sprinter and long distance especially 800m require completely different physiologies. Very suspicious on the basis of that
@@danielmacdonald721like how ian thorpe dominated mid distance and held world records in the 800 yet could final in the 100 free at an Olympics? or how katie ledecky is the distance GOAT yet can turn in a top 5 relay split in an Olympic 4x100 free relay? not suspicious at all. good swimmers are good swimmers and I'm sorry that you have a narrow assessment of pan zhanle
I think yes a gold medal would be my choice, since for example if you beat a world record that's gonna be broken by other swimmers, but for olympic medal you have that for the rest of your life, right?
I agree, I’d rather have a gold medal then a world record but if it comes with the gold that’s fine too.. I like your videos and continuing to learn a lot.. Thanks man!
I’m going to defer to u, Cody. You’ve done both. 2 things: which is the goal, cuz u may win gold but still not be the fastest & can earn a record anywhere, but Olympic gold requires a lot of “if’s”, planning, travel, expense, getting on the team, etc.
Defo world record for me.
Nobody at any time has ever gone faster. Full stop, in it.
My take is that it is reasonable to think he is doping before the test but accusing him after the tests crosses into the realm of racism.
Being anti communist China and their behaviour in sports is not racism. This isn't a race issue, it's a nationality issue. They have been done for drug cheating many times and absolutely everything that country and it's member's do is integrated with the communist regime.
Luke Hobson has potential to break the LCM WR too w/ that SCM. Not a turn-driven race like Marchand, so he could fare as well with half as many turns.
Hi Cody! Can you give good swim drills and specific dryland workouts for shorter swimmers? Side question, have you seen any short people get into D1 colleges?
I agree with your take on Pan..a legit phenom! And a clean swim. As far as Popovici, I believe he stepped back from training due to school..I think his success going forward depends on what he focuses on. I believe he can get the WR in the 2 free..the 100?? Before Pan ..yes..now?? Not so sure.
I agree with you on Pan. Can you imagine he's totally innocent and people ignored all his effort and hard work for that world record just because he's Chinese? I'd feel horrible! Innocent until proven guilty!
Hi Cody, one thing on Pan, his kick is off the chart! His kick alone when compared to swimmers beside him, particularly in the 4 *1 medley relay was off the chart!! Also, US swam a mid 47 off that relay, that was key to the loss, and Pan capitalized!!
when you have drugs in your system you can kick like crazy.
Drugs don't make a person's stroke and leg speed go up a level!! That guy is moving. He's changed the game in terms of technique!! His starts and turns are awesome. All technical aspects of his 100 are excellent!! Look at that first and foremost. Swimming is about mechanics first and foremost
@@AWPswim Today I learned that performance enhancing drugs don't increase stroke or leg speed.
Dude bro I was not even tapping my full potential until I was in my mid 30’s. People listen too much to the weak. Make your own path as a true Master. Silence your mind a true master of Art trains alone.
We shouldn't assume Chinese swimmers are cheating because of where they come from. Also, we shouldnt be surprised that, in a country with 1,500,000,000 people, some of them are fast swimmers that set world records.
Absolutely want a gold medal rather than a world record. Either is awesome/amazing, huge. 99.99% of the population will never achieve this... but for those looking at it, which do we respect more? Gold gold gold. I DO follow WR times, but after they've been broken 2 or 3 times, we don't remember. But I remember Rowdy in '84 (49.36 in the final, NOT a WR). I remember Pablo breaking through. Nancy Coughlin. Thorpe at the Olympics (although other places too). Melvin Stewart (yup, I remember, side-breather). Lochte owned the IM for 6 years, except for two races-- both happened to be finals in the Olympics. So yeah. Gold gold gold.
People Don't seem to understand that Pan has been the fastest since he was 8 years in china. The only reason behind his sudden drops in 100 free is because it wasn't his main event until the past 2ish years. He was only 19 when he broke the world record.
Data question: how many male world record holders have peaked at 19? Or in Popovicci's case, 17? Men seem to consistently improve until at least 23. I cannot think of a single world class male swimmer who didn't go faster in their 20s than their teens.
In 2019, at just 19, Kristof Milak went 1:50.73 in the 200 LC fly and broke Phelp's 11-year-old WR.
However, he experienced various training setbacks in the 5 years afterwards and didn't perform as well as he should have in Paris. Case in point: he ended up going 1:51.75 and losing to Marchand by half a second. The 19-year-old version of Milak would've won that race.
I can easily picture an unmotivated 23-year-old Popovici swimming at the 2028 Olympics and going 47.8 in the 100 free, literally 1 second slower than his teenage version. Personally, I think he's very close to being washed up at just 20.
I think pan is fine but qin should be banned
agreed..gold medal but having a WW is still pretty dam badass!
You should make a video with Caleb
They don't even live in the same state.
@ it would still be a W colab
Those here before the Chinese bots retaliate by spamming purple fact👇
Pan is the man!
I agree with you, specially knowing that he got through tons of tests that week. Also it's crazy to think he swam that time and won with that margin in an olympic final AND in that slow pool! Amazing swimmer 👏
he got through tests b/c WADA is in china's pocket.
It’s so easy to cheat drug tests. It’s why they freeze the samples and strip athletes of medals and records 20 years later. Don’t be fooled. All your favourite athletes are doping
I think the thing that caught everyone by surprise was by how wide a margin he beat guys like Popovici and Chalmers both great swimmers in their own right. There is no doubt Pan has great technique and is super strong with a great kick. But no one was expecting that kind of performance in what was thought of as a slow pool. I heard he was putting up fast times even prior to that performance but it is still leaving me a little confused.
Glad all the US swimmers and all the US medalist are all clean (sarcasm). Anyone that thinks you are gonna win a gold, or any medal at the Olympics without "drugs" you have zero clue of elite athletes, especially swimming. Let's not forget the Empire also has control of the narrative when it comes to this topic... example is this video. Curious if this video would be done if "the fastest man" was American. We all know the answer to this, hard no. Cody, do a video on "Does the US Swimming Team take banned performance enhancement drugs."
Sadly not many people realize this. Getting to that level is impossible clean, mostly. Sports at that level are usually never clean, especially swimming, cycling etc...people are naive
Thank you!! Well put.
Dressel stopped taking his magical asthma medication, then didn't do too well in Paris.
Pan came on the scene almost out of no where, I feel like I want to see consistency from him before accusing him of cheating
Not really though- if you’ve paid close attention to swimming and world competitions over the past few years, Pan isn’t really a new name. He’s newer to the sprint events, but I wouldn’t say to swimming as a whole.
he has all put up like 3 or 4 of the top fastest 100 frees ever
if that's not consistent idk what is
FIRST 🎉
Yes clearly there is cheating
Love your argument, putting a bit of seriousness and head and not being focused on the colour of the flag you are waiving... Not usual hearing an American being so honest, because no ones doubt about finke s wr but those wr broken by non Americans are always in doubt by most of the us
Short answer. Yes, there’s cheating.
