Don't forget that these men and women are fully quallified Royal Marines, and come a war will be on the front line, albeit often as first-aiders/corpsmen or ambulance drivers and hospital orderlies. Respect!
Regardless ... if any adversary starts to hear RM Band music, they would be wise to rethink their plan. And should they hear the bagpipes, they ought to just turn & retreat!
I absolutely love this piece! It was the first song I had for pre-ceremony music after retiring from the U.S. Navy; not this particular arrangement, but it's still a kick-ass tune!
This is not the version of this piece I was expecting from the band. I was very impressed with this. I am a big fan of ELP and I also like the music of Aaron Copland. All the band are top rate musicians.
Thank you very much, both UK & US Armed Forces and other people are always polishing their music performance skills and play for us! Let me present you again, later. Thanks so much.
Don’t get too emotional over music today, but THIS really gets the blood going. Have also seen an ELP video w/ them doing it. This has become a top 4 or 5 favorite classical melodies . Majestic, and fantastic!
This is written/arranged by Emerson, Lake & Palmer in the 60s! There’s a live version, another studio version with lots of overdubs and heavy rock influence. This is just spectacular!!!
@@jamesmansion2572 hmmm. Lemme check. You’re absolutely right. If I used the part of my brain that observes and reasons, I would’ve noticed the Montreal Olympic Stadium in every shot! lol. This film was shot in 1977.
Very surprising. I would have thought that a military orchestra, especially a British military orchestra would have played a classical version, as written by Copeland. Still a wonderful performance. Never underestimate the military, in music, medicine, technology, or science, they will very often, definitely surprise you.
Drummer is behind a partition again. Is this in case he flips a stick and it protects the others. A brilliant performance from our first line responders. Congratulations 🥰
@@Flanomax correct, Keith Emerson went to Aaron Copland with this version to ask permission in person to record it, and he was afraid he wouldn't like it, but as he said, Copland loved it!
Seeing all the Band, I wonder who were at C.T.C. when I joined 07/01/80, possibly the conductor and a few others; the rest be babies and yet to be born ;-)
WOW ..CAN U PERFORM THIS AT MICHAEL GUDINSKI TRIBUTE/ STATE FUNERAL...SONG 4 COMMEN MAN STRIKES me as appropriate....the arrangement is spot on ..trumpets sounding off ..
Super bin begeistert wie immer ! Nur wer bezahlt die großen Orchester ? Schon die Uniformen mit allen drum und dran? Sehen ja ncht so mausgrau aus wie bei uns.
correction So, you should have a "strong" faith in the Gohonzon (our worship, which manifests our Buddhahood, and summons up all the protection power of the heavenly deities from the whole univers!)

I believe it's for sound mixing and to allow the other musicians to hear themselves. Otherwise the drums are prone to over-powering everything/everybody else.
I have often wondered at the title of this piece of music... THERE IS NOTHING COMMON ABOUT. To the point, this is an unusual arraignment, not to sure I like it.

@@ELCADAROSA I am the most pacific of people, but when I hear the pipes I want to go off like a claymore!
Apart from the Corp of Drums/fife players, who like theie Guards counterparts, they form part of heavy machine gun crews.
The opening solo quartet are stunning . Their accuracy and timing is immaculate.
Unlike the audience trying to clap in time :-)
The RM Bands channel Emerson, Lake and Palmer. Who'd have thought it? Magic!👍👍👍
This should be played at every school morning assembly!... very talented gentleman! Thank you..
Emerson, Lake, and Palmer! Bravo!!

This bloody rocks. The Royal Marine band playing ELP's version of Copland. Awesome.

Absolutely brilliant. Amazing band love all their music. Britain you should be very proud of this band. I am an Australian living in Australia
Thanks mate... so very true
ELP would certainly be happy to hear this version ....
Yes they would have. I I got to see ELP in concert

That drummer sure had a good workout during this tune !
Nice twist to Emerson lake and Palmer, well done
Absolutely awesome - then again what else would you expect from the ultimate pro outfit?
Fantastic here 4th March 2021 love from Bernie in Ireland
Beautiful! Copeland alla Emerson, Lake and Palmer!!!

Believe it or not, but it's all to do with Health & Safety these days.
The screen protects the hearing of the musicians nearest the drum kit.
Meisterhafte Interpretation dieser Melodie, feierlich und kraftvoll in der Harmonie
best version yet
Splendid performance as usual.
Heard ELP perform this arrangement live in Detroit.
Sends me EVERY Time!
ELP Lives!
The theme tune for The Olympic games many moons ago I think ,great trumpeting🙂
James Bond’s Aston Martin just got supercharged.
So great!
I have played this many times with the US Air Force bands, but NEVER as a rock arrangement! That was excellently done, but strange for me. Thanks!
If I'm not mistaken this is the Emerson Lake and Palmer version they are playing. I love this arrangment though!!!
@@Flanomax at least very similar

AW SH!!!!73 A Rock n Roll Fanfare!
An RM bandsman playing guitar! That's a first for me.
The trumpet player second from the left looks like a young Greg Lake.
Mr. Copland would approve!
I don’t think so.
It is the Emerson Lake & Palmer's version. The original one is more solemn.
This must be ELP (Keith Emerson) version.
Sure is and the kit man got it down good!

I gotta say that this is better than Emerson Lake & Palmer.

Ooh yes❤
