This is a short tutorial about how to use the melodic step sequencer in launchpad95
To use this in ableton you need to download and install the Launchpad95 control script for ableton.

hey man you should do a mini series - i've been using it for just a few hours and it's super good and i can see how useful it will be but the little quirks are sometimes head scratching
thanks for this, it was well explained. I read few time the same info on the online manual and I even printed but I could t remember the different steps, now I do, sometimes a good human explanation is much better than reading. I really like the tool. would propose the programmer fo a nobel price :)

Actually..could you explain the Multi-Note mode in detail? I haven't used it much because i am not comfortable with how it works.

Latest version of Live and a Launchpad Mini, I come across the black matrix like you in the Melodic Step Sequencer but when I press a pad it's still all black. No sound, nothing. No issues with the drum sequencer though.
Just press it again or go to user 1 mode and than back, that usually does it for me
How do you change the root note? Seems to ignore flats and go down notes once you choose the higher pads..
i can't understand how to duplicate midi notes in step sequencer.. can someone help me?
how many steps you can have? maximum 32?

I Have it all set up with the a clean, unedited (just a new) project, and i have Launchpad95 selected, but no sounds come out, at all, speakers are confined correctly, lights work, all that is fine but NO SOUND, i don't get it… anybody who could help me out there?
Note--- No VST's or anything is added, do i need to add it? and if so how. My Project is literally brand new, when you click File>New Project.
+Zachary Sims You need to add a VST or an Ableton Instrument on the track that you are using. Otherwise you will get no sound.

Alex Eaton No, but you need to install the unofficial Launchpad 95 script from the link above and enable it in the settings in albeton.
Stuff doesn't light up in my launchpad. I am using the launchpad S. Does anyone know what is going on?

Rickard Lindroth Is not working for me neither. Ive just buyed a Launchpad S and it doesnt light up,. I've installed twice in differents computers (live 9.1 and 9.1.2) and set the midi settings as i should (launchpad95, launchpad s, launchpad s). The folder is in the correct path, and the name of the folder is also the correct 'Launchpad95' with no subfolders. Have you any idea of what is going wrong? cheers

No, sadly the script is for launchpad only.
I have try it. It is pain in ahsenhole
