Kolaches made with cream cheese and a bit of jam in the center. So good. Rich, sweet filling, with a dough base (which is NOT sweet). So you get the yeasty goodness of the bread, the richness of the cheese, and the sweetness of the jam in the center. I have never had a savory Kolache. Grandma never made one.
You see a lot of great places on #DDD where you saying to yourself, "I wanna go there." Then you see a place like this and you yell, "I've gotta have that!" Thank you Guy and #FoodNetwork for sharing this amazing place. #Kolaches
There is a location here in West Jordan that my sister goes to. They have a ham & cheese & a nutella flavored that I REALLY like. If you're ever in Utah, it is worth checking out.
And my grandmothers on BOTH sides were from Germany. Both families left Germany post WW1. So while this might be a Czechoslovakian recipe, it was made a lot in other countries. I'm sure there were differences in recipe, as these things tend to drift as different people come up with their own twists on the recipe as it travels around the world. But it's awesome to see a thing i ate a lot of, and really enjoyed growing up featured.
@@jeromethiel4323 i meant ask about the recipe 😋😅 but yes same, i know many people didnt want to talk about the war. my grandma left when she was 13, was put on a train to England with her brother. and didnt know what happened to her sister or parents until after the war. miraculously they all got out, and were reunited in NY afterwards

Ať first: koláče is always sweet, anything sour is on a koláč. At second: whoever considers Czech as eastern Europe should go back to elementary school.
As someone who lives near the Czech Capital of the US, those breakfast sandwiches are not kolaches. They are more of a perogi. Also, if they don't have poopy seed kolaches, they aren't Czech.
Different dough and perogi’s are boiled, so I wouldn’t say they’re perogi’s either. They seems to be a very Americanized version of something a great great relative told them was Czech. I’d guess back in the day, it probably was, but adding breakfast sausage and white sauce (only Americans call that stuff gravy) is +++ American, and a smidge Czech.
Ok. Thanks? As a Texan who goes to Czech bakeries frequently, every bakery offers something like these, both savory and sweet. Call them what you want, Texans call them kolaches.
@@DiabloandaDP they aren't kolaches, plain and simple. There's a reason the Czech Capital of the US isn't in Texas. I can call a Chevette a Corvette but that doesn't make it one.
I love her.... I could watch her all day.
24 Kolaches cut and filled with two separate fillings in 27 seconds. What a legend.
A yolk is the yellow center of an egg. A yoke is what you put on a team of oxen. You're welcome.
It makes me happy that guy is still doing this after all these years. I've been watching him since I was little, and he's still at it
I stopped there last year in SLC. Outrageously good.
