plus one of the best things in my kitchen is my computer it has a large screen and I have a screensaver of my kids on it your eye is drawn to it when you first come in the door love it....now comes organizing it and if all goes well taking your videos one at a time and stream lining them to fit my life:) thank you for all the hard work you do to help us along I really enjoy your videos:) they are very inspiring!

I don't know...I would not describe you as 'unlucky'. You live in a beautiful home and it doesn't seem necessary to have a desk in a kitchen the size of yours. You utilized the drawers very well I have to say and you make it work!

I spend a lot of time in the kitchen; I live in a small apartment and I don't have a home office, so my table is always crammed with things I use on a daily basis (diary, iPad, chords, pencil case, folders, notepads...you name it). Sometimes it's hard to keep it neat but... keeping a nice catch-all lined basket it so useful. I love my nice catch-all basket, which stays snugly on my chair! xxx
I think that many of us don't live anywhere near this level of high class living. I know that mine and my DH's whole house would probably fit in her livingroom and kitchen. But I do enjoy the videos.. I might not have as large of or nice of a house.. but no matter the size of my house I can go to the thrift store and find a basket to make my home the best that it can be by organizing the "stuff" that we all have.
You are a complete genius! I've been having problems where to put my stuff by my chair. It's usually magazines, knitting, and other crafts. I've already tried a dog carry bag so I could pull the wool out, but it is simply not working. The bin/box would work so well as it would give me a flat top as well. Great video full of great ideas, your amazing!
Very good ideas, thanks! I grew up in upstate NY in the 70's, and it was very common for homes to have a little office nook in the kitchen. You're right - it came in very handy :)
I guess I don't see a "valid" point criticizing Jen on wanting a kitchen desk. There's nothing wrong with Jen wanting HER perfect kitchen or expressing HER desires on HER channel. She always provides so much inspiration & great tips & I appreciate all she does for us & shares with us (without pay). Jen always says she is lucky & has a very fortunate life. Hi Jen, I love your organization videos! It seems almost every time I sit down to watch them I head straight out afterwards on a mission. It gets expensive but it definitely has helped streamline my life! I am also in the Chicago area (Evanston) and I am a working mom of two little boys so organization is key to staying sane. My mom has her chromebook in the kitchen or dinning room(her desk doesn't get wifi). In a draw we have paper, post it's, gum, old photos, old papers, take out menus, a little cook book. Below there are phone books. On top there is always papers and books, sharpener, pen holder and tape dispenser. I do want it more organized because everything is everywhere but it is a kitchen office.
Those bins from the container store are awesome. I have that one as well as some other lidded and open ones that I use for various organization. Love them!
i saw this video 2 days ago and yesterday i bought a plastic bin for my bathroom. I really needed something easy to store some towels and after i saw you video i got the idea. it fits so well. Why did't i think of this before?

My kitchen junk drawer is my mini office. It looks much like yours...everything I need is handy. I can tuck my calendar and to do lists away in there when needed.
Jen, this is informative, but more applicable to people who have more than 1,300 sq ft, no kids and no home business. If anyone has a similar organizing video link to share for an actually smaller house with kids and home office, please do! In a small home, we cannot afford space for multiple bathroom items in a kitchen drawer. We cannot even shop at big box stores because the 18 rolls of paper towels would displace the bath towels.
Great vid Jen! Gives me some inspiration to organise a small secondary bench in my kitchen that suffers from "flat surface syndrome"! I have 1 child in high school, 1 in Kindergarten, 1 in Pre-school and 1 at home, so as you can imagine there are a lot of notes, folders, homework etc that pile up. Plus my handbag, diary, phone, misc things. I think now, I have come up with a solution - so thanks sweetie!! xxoo

hi jen! just found your videos a week or so ago and am now addicted. you have inspired me to get better organized! while i have some things super organized, we have too much 'stuff' which becomes extra counter clutter..so i went to the container store today looking for this tribeca, but my main goal was really to score some kitchen storage stuff on sale...the salesclerk told me to check out the 'clearance corner' and there was a tribeca! it had a little stain on it, but i can fix that! thx!
I'd love to see an update of your filofax organization. For example I saw those little drop-like sticky notes on the bottom... When I saw that drawer I immediately thought: "Wow, that is so neat and organized for a junk drawer" and then you were like: "I know it doesn't look too neat!" ....
Love the idea of a container for all those things we need all day ! I'm always shuffling my lists and projects for the day in order to keep my counters neat. So I will begetting a basket with a lid such as yours from The Container Store. Thanks!
This video was one of my favorite ones! Very good tips that are easy to implement almost in any type of home. I watched this video a couple of times and got totally inspired to get organized with my own mini kitchen office. I bought one of the storageboxes from Reisenthel (love their Flora print!) and put all of my daily necessities plus my laptop in. Love it! :)

fab video I have something similar but its a lidded box under the sofa. my husband has a small lidded box under his chair for bits he accumalates it makes it so much easier 4 cleaning. I just put stuff he leaves out back in the box and he knows where to find his stuff. my mum also has a small lidded basket full of toys for when children come round it keeps them contained when there r no children x

Interesting video with good tips. I can understand the reason for the comments in response to Jen saying that she's 'unlucky' or 'unfortunate' for not having a desk in her kitchen. When you look at her home, you don't think, "less fortunate." However, I think it just boils down to poor choice in words. I don't think she's saying that she is less fortunate in general. I think that she - like many other people, regardless of their possessions - is just commenting on something she wishes she had.
I don't think she meant it like that, she just meant in regard to a kitchen office, you might be lucky to have that. Don't take it so vague, she knows that she is fortunate with what she has
i agree with you, she has such a nice house and big spacy kitchen and much more...she should be glad and be happy to have such a good life but i hate it when she complains about little stuff.some people need to realize the big things in life instead of little things like desk in kitchen

Interesting video with good tips. I can understand the reason for the comments in response to Jen saying that she's 'unlucky' or 'unfortunate' for not having a desk in her kitchen. When you look at her home, you don't think, "less fortunate." However, I think it just boils down to poor choice in words. I don't think she's saying that she is less fortunate in general. I think that she - like many other people, regardless of their possessions - is just commenting on something she wishes she had.
I don't think she meant it like that, she just meant in regard to a kitchen office, you might be lucky to have that. Don't take it so vague, she knows that she is fortunate with what she has

i agree with you, she has such a nice house and big spacy kitchen and much more...she should be glad and be happy to have such a good life but i hate it when she complains about little stuff.some people need to realize the big things in life instead of little things like desk in kitchen
