What would the measurements be to make a smaller one like for a mug rug or pot holder

I do not have measurements for a smaller size in this pattern. You could cut a pumpkin from a large print fabric and put a checkerboard border on it. Here is a link to a mug rug tutorial that might be what you are interested in.
