  • I'm so glad I didn't throw this can in the trash. I figured I'd at least try to upcycle it and use it for craft storage. It sure looks a lot better than it did before. I hope this inspires you to make something beautiful.

    I love your Mod Podge projects! I haven't tried any yet, but I've started collecting gems and ribbons in preparation. Like you I don't snack when I'm crafting, especially when I'm crocheting. I have this horror of ruining a project with a greasy fingerprint or chocolate or something. When I decide to snack healthy I usually stick with fresh fruits and raw veggies. I often throw in walnuts, cashews or pecans for an extra crunch. Thank you! Blessings!!!!!

    That came out pretty. I can't remember who's video it was but they fused the single layer napkin to xerox or card stock depending on how flexible you want it by layering a sheet of plastic wrap - saran wrap - between the paper and the napkin and then iron it. I gave it a try and it makes the napkins easier to work with for some projects like cards and boxes. It also makes them easier to fussy cut. Now some projects you do want that decoupage look specifically and the old tried and true way is perfect. Thanks for sharing.

    DT has pkgs of dried apples. They are delish! I try to keep some on hand to eat instead of potato chips. They still give me that crunch I like. DT also has some great trail mixes and dried cranberries and such. Sometimes I make my own trail mix. However, I don't snack while I craft, too messy. One thing Hurricane Harvey has forced me to do is clear out and organize my home and face my crafting addiction. But that's a good thing.....right?!? 😐 Those napkins you received are so beautiful! I really love this one!

    This is great and I'm looking R EVERYTHING around the house with new eyes! My recycycling bin isn't getting much use because I can see how ,any glorious used up old things can be repurposed and 'beautified! My mind won't stop with ideas in all areas of arts & crafts & mixed media. Learning soooo much. This was another fantastic idea. Now I know why I have a stash of old tins & ribbons etc! Hehe. But please please-being from Australia, what on earth is Mod Poge?!!! 🤔😉 I know it's a glue but I keep hearing the term in sooo many fantastic videos & projects and I had never heard of it before recently. I have some basic hobby crafts glue (& oooo oooo, just received a gift of a glue gun: sooo excited!!) - oh the things that can bring us joy- I just love looking at the colourful paints & ribbons & markers & bits & pieces. Strange ! Hehe. Thanks for fantastic gift idea. You are wonderfully creative :)..... so - mod podge?? 🙂

    • @thegeekmom
      @thegeekmom 6 років тому +2

      Mod Podge is an all-in-one glue, sealer and finish used to attach paper and fabric to various surfaces, Here is a recipe for making your own Mod Podge from Lulutastic (she's from the UK) lulastic.co.uk/thrifty-2/homemade-mod-podge/ Homemade Mod Podge Recipe
      To make a jar of fake / homemade Mod Podge you need 1 cup of glue and 1/3 cup of water. These proportions are perfect - don’t mess with them. Other internet recipes for homemade Mod Podge abound but they are TOO WEAK. Beware! Shake really well and use as you would Mod Podge. To make it gloss add 2 table spoons of water based varnish or to make the sparkly add super fine glitter

    The lid would look even cuter if you put some butterflies on it. And maybe you could put some dog treats in for your dog? My dog sits under the table while I'm crafting and I keep treats in a pretty jar for her. I don't snack when I'm crafting; in fact I forget to eat and my drinks go untouched!
    My husband loves snickers too. I made a box and the kids called it dads cranky box as if he's in a bad mood, the kids give him a snickers and he stops being cranky. I digress... 😏. The tin is gorgeous. I have a really pretty napkin I didn't want to use. Now I can do something useful with it. Thankyou.
