  • Nabila shared her story, the challenges she was facing, and how LINC helped to improve her language and communications skills.
Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) helps newcomers learn English and assists them in the settlement process and integration into Canadian society.
Part-time and full-time classes are available year-round, and some sites also offer evening and weekend classes. All locations provide Care for Newcomer Children (CNC) - for ages 19 months to 6 years - while parents are attending classes.
The LINC program is open to all newcomers who meet the following criteria:
    - landed immigrant (not a Canadian citizen or visitor)
    - or convention refugee (not a refugee claimant)
    - 18 years of age or older
Eligible individuals meet with a program counsellor for an assessment before they can start attending classes. They are assessed for their English-speaking skills and then placed into a class according to their level and class availability. The LINC program offers several levels, from beginner to high-intermediate.
All of our locations are accessible by transit, and in some cases, participants may qualify for public transportation assistance.
