Still enjoy Paul Simon after 4 decades, Kodachrome is the best..
Dear God! I was totally besotted by Paul Simon's amazing talents back in the '60s when I was just a teen. Now I'm in my mid 60s and here he is, still rocking my soul ♥
Such a talented musician: songwriting, singing, guitar playing. What a career!
On this day in 1888 {September 4th} George Eastman registered the name "Kodak" and patented his roll-film camera...
And 85 years later on May 19th, 1973 "Kodachrome" by Paul Simon entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #2 {for 2 weeks}...
Paul Simon's next release, "Loves Me Like A Rock", also reached #2 {for 1 week}...
R.I.P. Mr. Eastman {1854 - 1932} and Mr. Simon will celebrate his 72nd birthday in one month on October 13th...
Its almost 40 years ago - but still the same touch. You cant kill magic.
Paul Simon = God
Love both Paul Simon and Kodachrome
Truer words were never spoken...
When I think back On all the crap I learned in high school, It's a wonder I can think at all.
And though my lack of education Hasn't hurt me none, I can read the writing on the wall..

Still crazy after all these years Paul. Thanks!
R.I.P. Kodachrome.
Absolutely brilliant !!!
September 2023 👍❤️🇨🇦
Yes, brilliant!
un mito la canzone ma soprattutto l'autore. Grande Paul. Many thanks
Wish that Phoebe Snow could have been there as well for "Gone at last", but she passed away some months before this concert.
I hate to admit but it really is a good update!!
Brilliant...!
ADORO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Superb Post~~
Christy Borth sez :"one had to be there"
Thomas Pynchon utters:"it is enough there was a there to be there in"
yes
good stuff, but w/o the late, great phoebe snow, gone at last will never sound as good. rest in peace phoebe. a voice like yours we will never again have the pleasure of hearing..
Geez, his voice barely changed
I like the trumptets
Gee, wonder how was the roof after this show. Was it still intact?
I miss Phoebe Snow.
Very clever.
Dad had a lot to do with Paul playing a Martin Guitar...particularly when he started the "Graceland" project
Finally there is some nice song and footage, how hard can it be to get the music and the kodachromes synchonized? Apparently it seems to be hard. Video not worth watching.
It's funny I've been thinking the same thing as I've tried to find a great live version of such a great song. No doubt he's performed it even better live than that recording we love, but this definitely does serve it justice. Grateful.
Absolutely not!! Tony Cedras and Bakithi Kumalo have been core members of Paul's touring band for over 25 years. Mark Stewart,Jamey Haddad and Andy Snitzer for 13 years,Vincent Nguini 20 years.Mick Rossi and Jim Oblon are the latest additions 2 years ago.
Paul is more powerful.
"I got an iPhone camera, love to take a viiiiideeeeoooo, So Mama, don't take my camera phone away." :-) Whatcha' think? Update 2011?
Have you ever used a classic Nikon, with the F stop, top of the line lenses in that age? I love digital but the camera can take one hell of a photo
Nikon? I Phones? Smart Phones? They didn't exist, Its more about Kodak and Polaroid Instamatic cameras back then.
Nikon was founded in 1917 as "Nippon Kōgaku Kōgyō Kabushikigaisha" and renamed to Nikon Corporation in 1988 after their cameras. Also, an iPhone is a type of smart phone.
You "hail mary" iphones DOES NOT COME CLOSE to Kodachrome!!!!!
Gone at last? Seven months after the end of Kodachrome processing and he's celebrating its demise. I know Kodak was dickish over his song in 1973, but this is just cruel.
Great performance. Keyboard player's middle finger is a turnoff. The sync problem is annoying.
Hate when they "jazz" it up Why can't they sing it like they made ?
Because he's been singing this song for 30 years. He's grown and he understands the song differently than he did 30 years ago; his music has expanded also over those years and he's a better musician than he was 30 years ago. He's on a journey with this song; you want a memory. It's more fun to go with than to stay behind.
Peter Vogel I heartily disagree. I don't buy that he "understands" the song differently than he did when he wrote it. Rarely does the artist who wrote a song improve upon it over time (as opposed to someone who covers it and brings a whole new perspective). If the artist wants to do a song differently, he should probably write a new song with the new phrasing he or she has in mind. It does a disservice to the original creation, the fans who enjoyed the original, and the artist himself who took a creative shortcut. If the artist wants to go on a journey, he should write a new song and watch everybody head for the bathrooms.I think it is a sign of disrespect to the audience that the artist won't make the effort to recreate the song the way the audience remembers it. I'm no great fan of the Eagles, but Glen Frey made that point in an interview and I respect him greatly for it.
Steve McGady BTW I don't think this rendition was really "jazzed" up, it was just a half-assed performance.
If you want the song the way you first heard it, listen to the CD. If you go to the concert, you're there to hear the artist interpret the song. Personally, I love all the changes that, for example, Paul Simon or Richard Thompson have put their tunes through. There's more than one way to sing a song and each version reveals something new. Why would the original way (when he knew the least about the song) be the best way? Singing it "just like the first time" isn't respecting the audience, it's pandering.
it's just sped up that's all kinda like the supremes' keep me hangin on versus the slowed down vanilla fudge version.
Paul Simon is so gifted and he’s made the world a better place ! Thank you Paul 💖
