The information we share is given to us by a Real Estate agent who shows us the home and we will share this information with you. I enjoyed the tour of both homes. They were both priced less than I thought. Keep the videos coming. I just retired and am considering a move to Florida. My focus has been on the Keys. We vacationed in Marathon several years ago. We rented a home on a canal and rented a boat as well. Thanks for presenting these homes. It was informative.

I'm a life-long Florida native just old enough to have driven his first car over the 'old' (pre-1981) bridges. For two non-Conchs you guys are doing a wonderful job of presenting The Keys to the world. Post-Irma Monroe has now become the first county in Florida to have less than 50% of its homeowners file for Homestead Exemption; meaning of course that greater than half the homes no longer serve as someone's primary residence. In that regard (and others) Monroe is a truly unique real estate market.
Matt thanks so much for the comment and compliment! That is a very interesting fact about Monroe county. I know some people see that as a good thing and some see it as a negative. Laurie and I are just proud to have the opportunity to enjoy some of our life here. The locals have been wonderful to us! Like you said, It is definitely a unique real estate market! Great Home tours guys. My favorite was the first home , such a beautiful little place. I thought it would have been around $700 K
Is concrete constuction required now by code for new Homes ? Maybe include estimated insurance cost for the homes you tour.

Thanks! We are starting to get requests from different areas of the Keys so maybe we can work that in soon. We've got some other Marathon area homes and water tours coming up...maybe Islamorada soon!

I liked it great introduction to some of the houses like to see some of them below like 500000 most of us couldn't afford anything up in the over 5,000 close to a million have to be more realistic probably something 5 or weigh less which is probably very rare down in the Keys
There are homes here under $500k, but almost all will not be on the water and we have concentrated on that. We will look into doing some more affordable homes to give everyone the full picture. Great suggestion!

On the second house, I believe the bottom "Mother in law" suite is really good for short term rental.

The second house is also suitable for wheelchair. So nice that the second floor can be rent out. The second house is also in the end/beginning of the water canal. Lovely... Thank you for the video... I will contact @frankinthekeys
Is it parking for a boat in front of the house? Ore must get aprovment frov govnerment to get aprovement to park the boat close to house
It depends on the neighborhood and the rules of that area , but in most cases here in the Keys you'll be able to park/dock your boat at the home.

Wooow reading what ppl are guessing the prices are... So like those houses in these areas are around 700k to 1000k? Looks like the same prices as here in sweden for a house close to water/own beach and not to close to town.
Is there any houses / flats on rent in those areas and what are their prices for like 2-3 weeks? Would like to go there with my family total 5 ppl for a visit.

I was exactly $100k shy on the first house
What kind of video equipment do you use. Camera, Stick, Editing etc...Maybe a video on how you do your videoing..!
Pretty simple equipment really. We have a Sony AX53 camera, DJI Osmo Pocket, Rode Mini Mic, and I edit with Adobe Premiere Pro. That's pretty much it. We could certainly have a lot better gear for better quality but we wanted to keep it small and simple. I have found that if I keep the gear small and easy to use I will shoot more video. If the gear is more complicated I tend to shoot less footage. Thanks for watching!!

With time I'm sure we will learn the differences between the islands, but we have been here only a year and I could not tell you, as far as living goes, which island I would prefer. So far we like Marathon just fine! We think Islamorada is one of the prettiest areas.
@@GablesOnTheGo Hi, I completely understand. I would suggest making a video on where you are originally from and why you chose to live in the keys. I have friends and family here in New England that were interested in purchasing vacant lots on a canal.
We plan to do just that. Of course, our southern accent probably gives us away! We will do a video on how we came to make this decision and how things have been going since we did. Great suggestion!

House prices in juipter Florida are the high or can you get a decent one
I would say you can get a decent home here for what you can get in Jupiter if you are comparing apples to apples. Waterfront in Jupiter is probably about the same as here I would guess....just a guess. Try West Palm or Naples and and you'll think the Keys are a bargain!

Yes it was at the end of the first segment. Price of the home was $599k at the time we filmed.
I was going to guess $1 million on that second house. How far is the Bahamas from the Key's? Can you make a run over on the boat?
You can go from Marathon to Cay Sal Bank at about 60 miles...but there is nothing there. The typical "crossing" that you hear people talking about is out of West Palm over to West End or Miami to Bimini both around 55 miles. I just checked in on Google Earth and Marathon to Bimini is about 130 miles.
Expensive wow...must be paying for the spot on the water..as the house’s are not near reflective of the high prices...I’m a bit shocked
Terri, you should experience the wonderful people here in the Keys...the water...and the life that happens here...prices really drop when you put that in to perspective. Truly living is not nearly as expensive as simply existing. There are people from all walks of life living here....you just have to figure out where you fit in.
I love the Keys but i don't like hurricanes :-( i rather look for a house up north like west Palm Beach easier to evacuate when Hurricane about to hit
Yeah the hurricanes are a concern, but living in Paradise is pretty dang sweet! Thanks for watching!
Unfortunately it's not just us in the keys that have to worry about hurricanes. Pretty much all of Florida is.
The Keys are very expensive and not in reach for the regular working public. Just curious as to what you guys do or did for a living?

Laurie and I both were pleasantly surprised by that house as well. From the road it didn't look like much, but the inside was very nice and the outdoor area was really cool. Boating access excellent...I think they will sell that one no problem!
Here's the Zestimate $562,496 those are typically pretty high too. Estimated sales range starts at 534k. I would say it's a 500k house especially at this time. I think it's a good bit over priced.
Here's the other Zestimate $333,117 from Zillow.
That's the crazy thing about homes down here. A 3/2 sitting right next door to another 3/2 both with same square footage can be hundreds of thousands different in price.Value is very heavily weighed on things like sea walls, boat lifts, water access/depth, outside improvements etc.... I'm pretty sure...but not positive, that Zillow estimates are calculated on comparables in the area based on a few key data points like beds/baths and square footage....but down here in the Keys you can basically throw comparables out the window. Laurie and I have seen houses here we would have bought in a flat second if it could be had for the Zillow estimate!
@@GablesOnTheGo I kinda figured those things would go into it. In the one listing that house that was split up actually had a full kitchen with oven downstairs. No pool or anything in the back yard looked different. Sold pretty cheap a few years ago. I actually didnt see a pool in the 2nd houses yard in the earlier pictures either same with it selling for a lot less before too. I enjoy these videos. If I ever hit the lottery I'll consider buying a house down there.

I love these house tours but Laurie needs to stop touching everything with her fingernails. She touches then has to click her nails several times on the surface. Especially with this virus hands need to only be touching door handles.
