@@StevenBray-o4m Who knows, maybe one day we will get those days back but we'll have to do a hard reset on the music industry as it is today, the "suits" are totally in control!
This album was amazing. I remember back in the day here in the states it was rumored that Mansun was falling apart around when this album came out. I recall being on a road trip by myself listening to six for the first time and Inverse Midas hit me right in the gut. "How could they be breaking up after producing this masterpiece," I thought. To me, this album saw the band hearkening back to prog, Canterbury scene stuff.
ONE OF THE BEST AND MOST UNDERRATED ALBUM OF ALL TIME. REALLY INTRICATE SCREWDRIVER PRODUCTION MAKES THIS AN AMAZING ALBUM TO BE PLAYED IN IT'S ENTIRETY.
I'm always banging on how Mansun's first album, Attack of The Grey Lantern was my '90s Sgt Pepper and a big influence on my Laptops/Gorillaz vermal virtual band concepts and my continuing saga of Wide Open Space MMSTERPIECES; but grab a listen to their criminally underrated second album, when their indie band persona became far more entrenched in prog rock. Six is actually like the real beginnings of proper art-rock and how I imagine Peter Gabriel's Genesis might have sounded if they were really a parallel universe Sex Pistols with a Bowie type lead singer.
This album is one of my favorites of all time!! Cancer is my favorite track!! This album is perfect! Thanks Paul for continuing making music!! I look forward to the new album!!
After owning this album on cassette and CD I never noticed the policebox/tardis on the bookshelves there, nice touch. The thing I love about this album is rather than conforming to standard studio desk constraints of "we'll EQ that, roll-off this, add a touch of limiting here and a touch of reverb there, now record the whole album whilst riding the faders and we're done". They've adopted the approach of Pro-Tools can do all this creating experimental mangling, "let's use the fuck out of it", it all works so well, I wish more musicians/bands would get excited about the technology at their fingertips and get stuck in opposed to adhering to studio conventions.
so this is me, im in the uk talking to people about music, AND NO ONE OF THESE PEOPLE KNOWS ABOUT MANSUN. I was thinking all the fucking time, nobody knows this band here in Argentina and it's ok, this guys are not mainstream or whatsoever here cause is another fucking place, SO IM LIKE WTF IS THIS THE FUCKING UK. HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE NOBODY IN THIS FUCKING PUB KNOWS ABOUT THIS GUYS? I will have to introduce you guys.
Franco, man next time you're in the UK or if I ever get a passport and I could get down to Argentina we could go for a few drinks!! Your passion makes me smile and at the same time you are so right my friend. ITS FUKIN SCANDALOUS THAT ALL THE SHE-PPL ARE WELL FKN SHE-PPL . BUT MY ARGENTINE FRIEND LUV YOUR PASSION AND WOULD LUV TO MEET YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. PEACE AND LOVE!!
While this is awesome, can you imagine it actually being a full length video where it skips to different scenes, for example, going up the stairs and the couple enter a ballroom. Then back to this scene, next we enter the mirror etc etc. That would be EPIC.
It always boggles me that Six isn't featured higher in 'best albums of all time' lists. It's an utter masterpiece.
Well said I saw them live a few times superb but this album is a continuous epic sounding masterclass
I think it came out 2 years to early had it came out the same time when muse done it. It would’ve smashed the charts
More hooks, concepts, melodies in one song than most bands have in an album now
So true.
Totally true. How spoilt were we all those years ago?
@@StevenBray-o4m We'll never reconjure that magic my friend :( But anyway we were there to experience it so ner ner nerrrr

90's Progressive rock album. Masterpiece.
Some say that bear is still trying to climb those stairs...

One of the best albums ever made.
Total masterpiece. Never got the credit it deserved. The beautiful musical timing. Amazing Amazing track. Such thought must have gone into this.
This animated cover is brilliant! We all know the album is an absolute masterpiece and this compliments the title track very very nicely.
U can see the pile of the cock...
On their day these boys were pure genius
wow, an animated cover
more than I had before
more than I've presently got
more than I'll ever use up
more than I really need
Nicely done ;o)

My favourite Mansun song. More people need to hear the LP.
Who’d have thought these lyrics would’ve predicted the future this much.
Sometimes there's a time to recall this song's lyrics "Life is a compromise anyway"
4:53 on repeat
Still one of the best songs ever written! Masterpiece

Everything about this is just EPIC!
I love how warped the vocals are during the final verse.
Unfortunteky they were lumped into the Britpop era, but they were so much more than that....
This album is one of my favorites of all time!! Cancer is my favorite track!! This album is perfect!

Being a mansun fan and also being on drugs at the same time while watching this sends shivers down your spine. Equilibrium indeed imbalances things.
I remember playing this brilliant album to death in 98, Six has always been my favourite Mansun song, great lyrics, so apt for todays clown world.
Having a Mansun day today. Masterpiece
God this is Superb!!

we hope to see Six 20th Aniversery Edition soon.
Savage!!!
Dodge, I miss you buddy. Thanks for gifting this album to me. Love you forever x
Spectacular - just gets better with time….
One of the best songs ever written. They were great live too. Those were the days. 😔
Did we really peak as a species then? I'm fucking deadly serious
This is the better version of the song. No idea what made them cut the song down for a single release.
Winnie the pooh on the stairs doing his Chumbawamba impression - he gets knocked down but he gets up again :-)

Perfection ❤
Awesome!
what a brilliant idea with the cover! Six is one of the greatest album openers of all time...

Much better than the US album version.
Why is this version not on spotify
This album art always reminded me of early Marillion album cover stuff. However, the music of Six is better than anything Marillion did.
Thought thee thee would enjoy it
Well Winnie the Pooh is determined, I'll give him that
Somehow I don't think he'll make it. What do you reckon?
DOES ANYONE ELSE FEEL SORRY FOR POOH BEAR, WHEN AT FIRST YOU DON'T SUCCEED TRY AGAIN.
if you don't get this there's got to be something wrong with you....end of
