Lobster Johnson I am not overly certain what you mean by capitalizing in this instance. When we are talking about product costs (which include DM, DL AND OH - both variable and fixed) NONE of these costs are expensed until the product/job is sold.. not just when it becomes FG... but, when it is finally SOLD and become CGS. I hope this helps.

So direct costs are capitalized instantly whereas indirect costs are not capitalized until WIP becomes FG?
