Hey Brian, I'm a freelance logo designer, I have design for your Apple Bitz in your pixelated teme and also good and bad apple and thumb up and down in same theme too, would you like to have them?
It depends - USB-C is a plug type, not a communications protocol. Thunderbolt 3, 4 & 5 are all capable with the USB-C connector, but are not USB-C. They all support different data transfer speeds and some support higher power throughput, but that’s because they have direct-BUS pins. Some USB-C have slower data transfer than some Bluetooth, and some have rates that are faster. It all depends on where the output port is connected to, however all wireless signal protocols get faster with each new generation. Thunderbolt will always be faster than wireless but it’s never going to be a fair comparison - especially for smartphone use cases where distances between outlets, devices, hubs, border routers and modems can vary drastically from room to room, house to house.
Brian, if you have not try the Annapro A2 head strap with the Vision Pro, you should. It makes the Vision Pro a lot more bearable to wear for longer duration.
What’s some stuff that makes Oura Ring the innovation of the year ? Since it was the first product you mentioned. I will look through your videos incase you made a video about the Oura ring but I was just curious on your take.
What you say I agree it’s done nothing since I gifted one to my wife. I just can’t find a slice of my life where an iPad actually exists. I never had any problems with my Wi-Fi network when I had my Apple airport setups and now some of these mesh systems are woeful snaps to. Googles which atleast is the most robust cost effective and simplest on the market. As for the whypad find some answers
Based on the other products that were mentioned in the list, Vision Pro is by far the most innovative. Sure it's out of reach for most consumers, but it really was impressive nonetheless. A lot of mindless haters hate on the Vision Pro because of the price, but I'm sure if Apple released a headset in the 1000 USD range with compromises, that'd be a much worse product strategy. Slow and steady is the best approach. As long as Apple keeps it relevant by introducing updates and a cheaper variant down the road, I believe it will become more popular. I feel this can replace the iPad and Macs down the road. To replace the iPhone, we will need some fantastic wearable AR glasses, which I'm sure isn't happening anytime soon. Maybe 7-10 years down the road is a possibility.
What do you use for voice dubbing with translation? If you could make a tutorial on this topic, that would be great. In any case, everything is perfect for the dubbing in French ;)
I’m worried about the iPhone 17, I’ve heard there Apple Modem wont support mmWave and only have 4 instead of instead on 6 that Qualcomm modem have and limited to 4gb speed… a phones main purpose is to have reliable connectivity to phone towers, if we don’t have strong steady connection, what’s the point.
Anyone: What does Apple TV do that I can’t do on my iPad Pro or MBAir? I can watch live or download movies, TV episodes, and watch them on any device or TV with an HDMI port/cable. I don’t get the reason to buy one, what ELSE does it do?
AirPorts are still the best wifi routers I’ve ever used from a user experience point of view. Please apple bring them back. I don’t remember that UFO design though..? Was that just in the US?
Apple should develop a reverse strategy for the watch. Establish the watch as a primary connector device with a separate small display/handset connecting through it. Would require a different provider pricing plan but could make the mini-crowd happy while possibly lowering entry price points.
By going with their own implementation of WiFI, they might have a *single* chip which is CPU, memory, and support for all types of wireless communication. If they pair that up with a small but decent monitor they could have a smarthome display which they could sell for significantly less than an iPad. That's what I'd want as a customer, since I would want *multiple* displays in my house, and that could pretty expensive if done with iPads.
"Now that was a huge miss for Apple" Not really. They had a rough relationship with Tony Fadell which is why he left the company. Your genius idea is to... bring him back into Apple? No.
Apple needs to get into the robot vacuum business which is one of the best real AI applications. The high end robot vacuum costs close to 2K so it makes sense for Apple to pursue. Look at Eufy S1 Pro.
Sora seemed like a very controlled demo. AI pin was too hot to wear and rarely worked when prompted by reviewers. With those two examples I can see why the Apple Vision Pro won this year, even though I personally don’t like headsets. I hope Apple TV upgrade can allow for a better gaming experience.
AVP totally the innovation of the year, overpriced and not mainstream, sadly yes, but we both know it is incredible and capable of so much! Nothing is comparable Brian. There are new straps now for greater comfort, just waiting for live sporting events with the AVP!
Current smart home hardware and software sucks the way blackberries sucked in 2005 and were considered smart phones. If Apple can own the space, that’d be welcome.
The lighting cable was a joke especially when they were going to be one of the first to use USBC but it wasn’t ready in 2012 to Apple went to lightning which was great but they kept it way way way too long.
I just need a basic iphone with pro-motion, i don't care if it's 1 or 50 cameras, smaller battery, thinner or thicker, doesn't matter. A non-pro model with pro-motion, i'm all in. Air or non-Air, doesn't matter.
Hey Brian, I’ve been a longtime fan, following you since your CNET days, and I’ve always appreciated your deep insights and balanced takes. Lately, though, I’ve noticed a shift in your videos and podcasts that feels more skewed toward the negative side, particularly around Apple. Your tone, demeanor, and sometimes the pessimism in your delivery have been turning me off as a viewer. I miss the energy and nuanced perspective that originally drew me to your content. Constructive criticism is important, but it feels like the balance has tipped too far. Just wanted to share this as feedback from someone who’s been in your corner for years.
Thanks for the feedback. I hear it both ways ALL the time. I'm either a fanboy or a hater. So I must be doing something in the middle.. My biggest point is. WHAT is there to be excited about from a major innovation standpoint. Apple makes great products, but what did they do to wow you in 2024. To genuinely WOW you if we're being honest. I think I am very balanced overall, I don't say mean negative things. I keep it real. And my experience is not the only one that matters. I'm just a slice of the pie. But my opinions are based on what is really happening and Apple has a standard that they drive into consumers so when they drop the ball that should also be a part of the story. Thanks again for the feedback, but I've really been generally covering this the same way. I can see it from both sides. Vision Pro is incredible, but I don't use it everyday and not a single person I know other than people in the tech space even own one. It's innovative and it's also a failure in the consumer space. But it's a long road and Apple will see it through to be something else in the next 5 years.
@@briantong I feel you're very balanced. You're not afraid to say the negative when it needs to be said, but you also give the positive in spades. Keep up the great work!
@@briantong From one Brian to another, I have been a fan of your content since the C|NET days and I like your enthusiasm when Apple does something right and also calling them out when they do something wrong.
I agree with you, Brian I believe that your views are pretty much unbiased and they’re very balanced and you do keep it real. But I have said this before Apple is lagging in certain areas. Sorry, but I would never automate my home with Google and Amazon. I’m not that interested in being cool anymore. When I was a kid, it was different. I’d rather wait. So if anyone actually gives this some thought, it would be understood that there’s no way for this to be a mass consumer product. Additionally, that’s a reason it’s so expensive. At any rate it’s gotten great response from industry and the medical profession, and that’s great for a first gen product such as this.

2:07 translation: Apple is pitching offers to acquire WYZE or something. Why tf would they “develop” their own “camera”?
The iPhone 13 mini had great battery life. Release that with a slightly upgraded chip as the SE 4 and I'll grab it without hesitation.
Unclear where 65W charging version is; all links (and direct search on Amazon) show 15W magnetic (as advised), but only 30W USB-C charging, not 65W

Make the ultra 3 slimmer, smaller bezels and the 1hz display as well.

Just by hearing about the competition enlisted it makes easy to see why Vision Pro was the choice.
