Catching Giant Winter Bass on Falls Lake

- I had my best day ever on the water at Falls Lake this past weekend. Fishing slow was key and it led to me catching about 26 pounds of bass including a 9lb bass! What an epic day on the water.

I been fishing falls since the water starting comeing over river bank,giant river bass knocking big gizzard out of water I bank fished a few yrs before I got a boat caught an lost lots of giants,first bass boat in 88 I was fishing John boats before that,I was learning off shore deep cranking in 88 I learned from a older guy big time tournment fishermen I'm still doing it today catch one now and then,falls lake ain't nothing like it was since 2011 I my book I moved came back 2020,that was a average day u had ,if u had bought 50 more 2-4 lbs u would had a goid day back in the day,for this day an time I'm impressed wat you caugh,I've caught 109,s 8-9 back in the day two over 10 I've lost lots of 10-11,s at boat,I had a few on that were prolly 13 + my friend caught a 12lber in 1990 on point beside one I was fishing I saw him fight it,he kept that one,but released many giants after that,it was land of the giants line snapped regulary,I've caught 3 over 8 at falls since 2020 that's nothing lol alk 100% released,I've caught 10+ at harris a so many 8-9,s back in 88-1996 at harris I couldn't tell u,an I've caught prolly 20 over 10 in my life including two 11,s an a 14 + from farm ponds,I'm 62 now an I would love to catch bass at falls alot better than wat it's been,there's no management,no restocking,biggest idiot in the world controlling water level,wild life thinks falks full of bass but in my opion those surveys ain't nothing to compared about wat it should be if u no any decent fishermen from the 89,99,s easy 2011 u ask em all most all the old timers I no are dead😳😳shock boat guys laugh at me,they alk to try fishing,I told them alk bass fishermen would donate to restock with 1-2 lbers,they said mother nature do a better job than them,anyway speak up guys if u no u no,fishing 90% catching 10% it used to be other way around,the few guys I no say same thing,speak up if u tired of spending a fortune on boat rods reels lures an the lake sucks,I don't think anyone cares or don't no good luck bro that was a rare day I'm interested to see if u can keep catching em,your the only life scooter I see do anything with I'm Ole school only have 2 d depth finders I've caught 1009,s of bass,oh yea an they used to school by the Acker 2-3 lbs,alk that basically quit after hurricane Fran an stripers alk the top on top water crank baits spoons,alk that quit lake has changed that much beleve it or not,jet skiers skiers they been on falk,s since the 90,s don't bother me along as they respectful use to make me mad the disrespectful ones,an some disrespectful bass fishermen to grab your spot while u fishing it
Glad to see there's still a few giants still there I caught a 8lb 15 Oz in 2020 ,used to catch them every yr lots of 5-8 lbers back in the day,I'm a Ole school power fishermen,dang I'm have to try finesse I saw a guy fishing shacks head yrs ago at falls when it first came out we like to fell out the boat laughing we saw him at ramp he was releaseing his limit all big uns,he did way better than me an my buddy power fishing that day didn't work ,I still couldn't bring my self to fish a shake head power fishing back in day worked 99% of the time,congrats on the catch& release,a unique way to catch them most people can't do that ,I been on falls since it started to flood used to drive around lake cat fishing when it was a river an trees were cleared had no idea the bass were there ,monsters an numbers but once I found out I went every evening from the bank,boat ramps want even open,any way awesom fish bro

*** Y'all out there in your mid-40s or older make sure you get a PSA test. Catch it early before it spreads and you'll be okay.

loving your channel man! i live driving distance to Falls but just started bass fishing last year. seeing the big ones pulled out of our local lakes when the MLF Heavy Hitters came to town got me pumped. i haven't found the big ones yet, but in the scheme of things i'm still a beginner. i'm really looking forward to seeing more of your videos on Falls, especially this spring. you and Jamie Hegarty are definitely my new favorite local anglers on UA-cam (he has some content from Falls too. check out his Spring Smackdown video.) thanks for taking the time to share not only your exciting catches (and BOY were those exciting!!!), but also tips on your tackle and lures. very valuable info for newbies like me! keep up the good work, and welcome to Raleighwood! i wish you much success here. tight lines 🎣😎

Still waiting on another vidio bro,or is that only time u caught them lol that's great for this day an time I used to catch em all the time like that in 80,s 90,s all released,glad to see there still some in there,falls has no management,an a idiot controlling lake level,act of God for water to get high,they draw down before rain an suck it out fast as it gets in ,all that bad stuff u hear is true,i been fishing off shore an ledges since 1988 when 99.9% were beating bank,u did good bro an u might be goid enough to repeat that but its rare in falls im 4 miles from ramp retired an i have to talk myself in to going,i still catch some but no where near the way it was before 2010,still waiting on another vidio from u lol

That’s incredible. I mostly kayak fish. I’m in a local kayak league and have fished 4 tournaments out there. Overall my best tournaments have been out there granted I hate it for access points, for a kayak. It needs more 24/7 ramps in the middle part of the lake. Which ramp did you launch from?
Highway 50. But you can fish everything I was fishing out of a kayak if you launch at Ledgerock.
My PB on falls is 8.8 and I am hoping to break that this January 🏆💦
Dang man, awesome! I've found I catch larger fish, but fewer in winter. I'm in a kayak though so am nervous to go out when it's too cold. Fall in and it's over :(

Wow….. What’s your drop shot/shakey rod and reel combo? You got it down pat.
My drop shot rod is a 7’0” Kistler Chromium Medium Lite. My shakes head rod is a 7’0” Kistler KLX medium. I use a Daiwa Fuego for my reel. Beat $100 reel on the planet. 👍🏻
Thank you. I have gone through 3 drop shot combos and each rod has snapped… I’m not sure what my issue is.

All u guys who fished falls lake for yrs like I have need to complain to the guys who shock the lake,they laugh at me,I'm 62 yro,I'd like to see falls great again in my life time I been fishing it since it was a river starting to flood,It was good 2010 before I moved not as good as 80,s 90,s I came back in 2020,think bass moved to another lake,my buddy fish harris since 80,s he say same about that I caught many giants on both lakes,I told shock boat I would chip in to restock they said mother nature do a better job than they could I said every bass fishermen would chip in to stock 1-2 lber they grow fast used to be 90% catching 10% fishing now it's 10% catching an 90% fishing,if u were there back in the day u no if u weren't u dint no,I'm retired 4 miles from ramp an got to talk my self into going,speak up guys let them no how u feal,the tournment weigh ins nothing like they used to be I laugh at the baby bass weighed,slot ain't working used to be 16 inches,I'm 100% catch & release anyway,an they got the biggest idiot there now controlling lake level than ever before,draw it down if rain comeing,it goes down in heavy rain lol bought got to be a hurricane a act of God to get out then they suck it out fast as it comes in,every spring water stays colder cause they want let it back up if u no u no,band together make falls great again🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
