The Stranger (1946) Following the second world war, Nazi fugitive and war criminal Franz Kindler (Orson Welles) is on the run after fleeing Germany and now lives under a false identity as a school teacher in a small Connecticut town; But things become complicated for Kindler when a federal agent (Edward G. Robinson) investigating war crimes arrives in town unexpectedly, so he resorts to desperate measures in order to keep his atrocious past a secret and avoid being brought to justice.
