Not too many pianists can afford to emulate Lang Lang: feels free to interpret a piece as he thinks fit and acts funny infront of a big audience. Being famous does have its advantages, but then it requires a lot of self confidence. Well, my school teacher used to joke: those who know, do, and those who don't, give comments. I belong to the latter, haha!
I hate how a lot of people seem to judge lang lang based on what they see than what they are hearing. So what if he looks funny? So what if he seems like a weirdo or a creep? Lang Lang captures the emotion, every breath, every movement when he plays. Personally, I think he best interprets Mozart because he is the very embodiment of playful and lightness - probably how Mozart intended it to be. I don't know, other interpretations just seem a little too heavy to the ear.
I agree BUT if you listen with closed eyes, there is not a lot more to say than what many other pianists have played. With his ability, he could have sat and played all the Mozart sonatas and sight read them all. There is nothing remarkable here.
@@grumpyoldpianist3251 God damn I made this comment a year ago. I don't even remember this anymore HAHAHA. Anyway, yeah, time can really shift perspective.
@dasteufelhund oh my god. dude have you ever heard of typos? mistakes? not everyone's perfect you know, we ALL make mistakes. i called the piece the wrong terminology(o btw LOOK AT IT NOW. IS THAT CORRECT OR DID I USE THE WRONG TERM AGAIN?) and can you explain to me on how calling the piece the wrong name shows that i'm not capable of what it takes.. cause that doesnt make any sense btw. calling the sonata the wrong thing does NOT. i repeat NOT. affect your playing just to let you know.
The eighths in the left hand sound like question marks, LL does not know what to do here. There is nothing of the "piano" or "sforzato", no musical contour or sense.
