For years I've wanted a Rolex for Christmas, but never had the opportunity until now!
One of the best!!! After 3 years, i finally got mine. Stunner!
awesome. it is a top time piece! I’m still amazed whenever it put it on.
A most excellent presentation! Thank you.
You're very welcome!
What a lovely watch, and you got it for retail as well which is so satisfying as a consumer. I just picked up my first Rolex from my local AD, Yachtmaster 40mm Rhodium. Im really in love with it and congrats to your new baby!
Very nice! There is nothing else like picking up from the AD.
Incredible! The sub dials do it for me. Many congrats 👏🏻
Thank you. It’s a unique combination of dial elements!
Congratulations stunning piece, looks really good on your wrist 🤩
Thank you so much!
Excellent pickup. Great piece for the collection
It's my best piece yet.
Thanks for the Video mate. I collected my yellow Daytona last week from the authorized dealer. Gold wins over my steel Daytona. Greetings from Germany
Nice 👍 I don't have a steel Daytona yet, but the gold is awesome.
Very cool pick-up S C. I’d say this is the Daytona to have. It has a very neat vintage feel to it with those gilt subdials and the ample red accents. For some reason people are totally sleeping on this model and I wouldn’t be surprised if in years to come, when the hype surrounding the ceramic models has died down, this turns out to be one of the most collectable pieces. Nice one!
Thanks! I definitely think some of the gold Daytonas and Day-Dates are under-rated.
Congrats my friend, looks amazing! Especially in the images at 12:40.
Definitely seems like you deserved it based on the previous purchases at your AD
Thanks a ton!
Congrats on the new piece. I have never been a huge fan of yellow gold, but wow, this is a truly stunning piece! Thanks for sharing.
Edit: My favorite Daytona is the White Gold with Meteorite dial on Oysterflex.
The good thing about this one, is that later on, I can put it on an aftermarket rubber strap if I choose. Although not as good as Oysterflex. it gives some flexibility, whereas I would not have the option of a gold bracelet if I purchased an Oysterflex model.
Looks amazing. Congratulations.
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you for not propagating the myth of "waitlists"!
I think for many Corporate AD's there is a "theoretical waitlist" but they will throw your name in the waste basket after you exit the door. For other Family-Owner AD's there IS a waitlist, but people with buying history and relationship and likability and trust, will always drift to the top of the list.
For the Rare AD (and I've seen it in Orlando, FL) there is a lottery system where everyone has an equal chance.
@S C even for the family owned. A list that isn't prioritized by wait time isn't a wait list.
It's one of the irregular verbs Minister, for them it's a wait list where they literally wait and mostly for naught, for you its a semi ordered queue that sometimes works, and for me it's the priority phone number list that the AD whips out when the watches arrive in stock.
[apologies to Yes (Prime) Minister
I went inside a rolex ad …. Ggrrrrrrrr disgusting … then i got mine from some flipper !!!! More disgusting …. Lolsssss
Wao! Now this watch is the pinnacle of your collection, not only for what it is but more for how well it looks on you, specially with a suit 👍🏽 congratulations, well deserved and happy holidays (do obviously you can’t be any happier) !
Yes, it might be the peak. It turned out to be a great year for Rolex. Very satisfied!
Thanks for your support throughout 2022 and Happy Christmas and New Year. . I probably won't visit my AD again until next spring, but I'll continue to do videos on what I already have.
Great watch S C and great video as always. Excited to see your journey in 2023! Enjoy the holidays and take some rest :)!
Thank you! Will do! Don't mind at all if 2023 is less busy.
Congratulations! My favorite Daytona is the full white gold with black diamonds dial.
It's beautiful, and it looks amazing on your wrist. Many cngratulations.
Thank you so much!
Your collection is Archie Luxury’s dream! Haha! It looks like you set out a goal and you’ve achieved it. You were very patient and spent a substantial amount of time and $$$$ to get there. Good on you. Patek is the obvious next summit. Some might suggest Lange. Whatever you choose, I hope you enjoy your collection to the fullest.
Thank you! Spent a LOT of time to acquire these, now time to hang back a little.
Whoot 🎉🎉🎉🎉 Such a beauty. Now you can kick your heels up and enjoy your magnificent Rolex collection. What a great Christmas gift! I think I was a little giddy, riding your high like a contact high, so I reached out to one of my ADs back East. He says he will call me next month. Let’s see…. Congratulations again!
I was HOPING you would see the premier of my new video! 🤟.
This will be on wrist for the entire Christmas Weekend. I've wanted a Christmas Gift Rolex for several years, and now I finally have one, and such a beauty. Yes, now I can step back for a while (?maybe until next spring/early summer).
Thanks for all your support this year. You've been a great driver of my channel! And Good Luck in the New Year! 💥
@@sc1 it is great to be on this watch collecting journey with you! I stopped making videos to cool my obsession but I do love checking in with what’s going on with your collection. And you know, with the red accents and the warmth of the gold, that is a perfect Christmas watch!
Those red accents blending in with the yellow gold, almost gives a feel of Rose Gold. Very warm.
Most likely nothing else new is coming for me in the foreseeable future (but I've said that before...)
I merely got hooked on your personality from your very first video on the Wimbledon DateJust (which I recall you declined), but anyway enjoyed your subsequent videos. Always understandable to take a break.
Best wishes.
What a beautiful combination SC. Very happy for you. A nice Christmas Surprise. My AD got me a rose gold Daytona with the sunburst dial and although beautiful it didn’t look good on my wrist, was very difficult to see the time with no contrast on the dial. I sold it a month later….
After seeing your’s in yellow gold with the black dial though I am wanting to give a similar combination a try. That’s a very handsome combination and I’ll bet you’ll enjoy it just as much or more 20 years from now.
Congratulations again! Always enjoy your videos.
Mark Fessler
Oh, a rose gold Daytona sounds stunning. I hope you don't regret selling it. Like I said, my Daytona has some minor issues with legibility, but I don't mind at all.
Haven’t regretted it so far because the rose gold really didn’t look as good on my skin as I hoped it would. The watch itself was stunning, but I didn’t make it look good…
After watching your video today though I’m honestly having second thoughts…
I'm am looking back several times at the Everrose Gold SunDust Dial, and it looks Spectacular on the website. I would have been happy with that too.
But It's ok if you have second thoughts. I've regretted several times my white dial two-tone Daytona, but I've made a come-back since then with my newer Daytona, and then some. So, it's possible to always bounce back and get an even better piece, if you choose to do so.
@@sc1 good advice! For what it’s worth, I think you made a great decision on your white dial gold/steel Daytona. Like the one you just purchased, it has nice contrast. And you seemed to really enjoy it when you did the video on it. You said it today, a big part of this is the experience with the AD when it’s a positive one and it sounds like your AD is a pleasure to deal with.
I have had a long standing relationship with my AD here and I can say that about half of the watches that I have purchased from them were one’s I did not request, but they were really cool pieces that I now enjoy very much. A fee of them my sales associate spec’d out for me without telling me so that I would have the opportunity to see a specification that I might not pick on my own. And almost every time it’s turned out to be a watch that I thoroughly enjoy.
One example was a SkyDweller that he ordered for me earlier this year. He spec’d rose gold with the oyster flex strap and the gray dial. I never would have chosen that on my own……but now I think it’s one of the coolest versions of that watch. Thanks to my AD.
That being said, the owner of my AD is retiring and Rolex did not let him keep the Rolex brand as he looked for buyers for his store. So now I am starting over essentially. But it was a truly enjoyable relationship for many years. He told me he was planning to introduce me to the owner of the AD who has stores in two nearby cities. So we’ll see….
Oh, SC, I misunderstood your last reply about the white dial Daytona. Is that the one you regretted selling? Your latest steel/gold Daytona had a black dial, didn’t it?
Perfect video.
Brilliant filming.
With your obvious joy, passion, and deep knowledge in relation to these watches, the AD could not have found a better owner for the watch.
Also, FWIW, with respect to the lack of ceramic sleeves in the bracelet link, an approach that you may consider is the application of PTFE (Teflon) dry spray lube into the bracelet after cleaning. The liquid propellant/carrier evaporates to leave behind a dry low friction barrier coating that in theory at least could reduce/stop wear in the bracelet, and make the operation of the bracelet even smoother. Further, applying the PTFE spray to the precious metal surfaces might also help to reduce the potential for scratching.
I have been applying PTFE spray to my steek 4 digit reference OP and 5 digit reference DJ for few years now and there a noticeable difference in bracelet fluidity and refinement post application. I also enjoy the silky feel of the metal surfaces post application.
Actually, my AD mentioned that they appreciate my enthusiasm and like seeing my reactions when I receive a new Rolex, and that was why they thought of me when this came in.
Very good taste in watches. Your Daytona is stunning
Thank you, it IS amazing.
Congrats!
Thank you. Really enjoying it.
Big congratulations on your new pick up SC!
Thanks again for watching!
Huge congrats man. What a watch.
Thanks, it is an splendid Daytona... and a major acquisition.
@@sc1 indeed. Wear it in good health. What could you possibly ask for in 2023 after all of this? Also what are your thoughts on Rose Gold? I see you gravitate more to YG instead.
I'm not sure anything could top this, but you can see in my previous Shorts, that I asked for a Rose Gold Yacht-Master 40mm with Oysterflex. That's the next piece that I would want, not only for the Rose Gold, but the Oysterflex bracelet as well. ua-cam.com/users/shortseM4HcgrNKLs?feature=share
Congratulations that’s awesome wear it in good health. Merry Christmas to you 👌🏻
Wearing it right now at work! Merry Christmas to you too. ✌️
I haven't seen one with that dial before but it's gorgeous 😍
Yeah, It's a beautiful dial, and it doesn't come along everyday.
You look so sharp! Never been a gold fan but gotta admit I can easily understand how this piece fits with your daily outfits. Me, not a suit guy anymore 😅
Wow, thanks for returning, I haven't seen you in a long while. This Daytona would look fabulous on almost anyone.
I was in the same position three years ago, never thought I would go for yellow gold, but it has slowly grown on me. If it can happen to me...maybe it could happen to anyone.
I still enjoy wearing a suit most days, but this winter, relying a little more on cashmere and wool sweaters. Still a great match with Gold Rolex.
Great watch…difficult to know when to stop..not been attracted by gold yet, but maybe platinum one day…
I didn’t think gold was right for me either. But give it time… if it happened to me, it could happen to you.
Thabks for taking the actual measurement. Steel is smaller due to the more slender right lug, 38.4mm.
I had to take multiple measurements, but most of them came out to around 39mm. I don't know why Rolex keeps advertising it as a 40mm. It 'look' slightly larger than 39mm due to the bezel and chronograph pushers.
@S C i believe your tt has the same case as my steel. Let me know what you get.
Your collection is extraordinary.
Just started to be too big in my opinion.
Nice presentation as always.
I'm really considering trimming down some of the edges. Thanks for following!
That is a Boss watch
This piece is awesome , congrats my friend wear it in good health . 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Thanks for the kind words. 👍
👍🏿
Desperately want this watch 😬 going to see the AD in 2 weeks to get on the list
Best of Luck. It's a Beauty!
Congratulations.
🥳
Beautiful watch my friend
Thank you much 👍
@@sc1 but Rememebr who the king of them are 😎😎 🌌
I'm torn up. My Dweller is dope, but this Gold Racing 'Tona is making a run for it's money, and it's threatening to take over as Top Dog.
@@sc1 It would be too dog. But there's one reason it is second to the dweller. Doesn't have the 9001 movement. It is stunning though and probably harder to get than the dweller. It's like comparing Federer and Nadal. P.S. check your email I sent you some pics of my dweller :)
The diamond dial daytona is the best one
“Show you what you need to do to buy this watch”… make more money? Lol
Nice watch my friend! I’d like to pick up the Everose Daytona on oyster flex, I love that one.
congratulations SC on your huge milestone purchase. what's up with 360p res😝
It’s still processing. It should process up to 4K! Maybe try it again later.
What an amazing collection and that new Daytona beats everything else. I really like my gold meteorite gmt even though I never asked for it at the ADs. I am like you in a sense that I buy what the AD offers. I have a good relationship with my Rolex and Patek ADs but I better take it easy for awhile. Building a summer house and my wife doesn’t appreciate my watch purchases compared to her financing the summer house. Brilliant video and really wonderful collection. Happy New Year!
I found out that once offered, the AD might not give you a second chance. (I passed up a white gold Daytona Oysterflex, and regret it ever since). Offers can be a blessing in disguise. It might not seem the best at the moment, but it could turn out to be a true keeper. Meteorite GMT would be awesome.
That watch looks astonishing on you...
This Daytona would look amazing on almost anyone.
Congratulations! Picked up one for my wife 3 weeks ago. Hopefully will get something heavy for myself!
I saw your video on it. I think you should ask for something similar. It would look good on you too. I've heard people rag on the Daytona as being too "Dainty" but I can't disagree more.
@@sc1 I've hinted for them to offer me the platinum or meteorite dial daytonas
You're asking for some high-roller pieces.
@S C whats left after full gold daytona man? You're in the same predicament now!
Yes, that would be the next step. But then again, I could just decide to exit the game while I'm up...
Grace video and very inform
ative. Thank you very much.
I thought I knew a lot about Rolex but watching your video was the first time that I've heard about the ceramic sleeves around the screws
I wonder, do you know if there's a company that offers these sleeves that could be purchased aftermarket and installed afterwards at least on the removable screws since it would be very tricky to put on every single pin where the pens cannot be removed unless the process is done by a skilled watchmaker
thanks again for the great video and I'm looking forward to hearing from you
I don’t know, I have never heard of aftermarket ceramic sleeves even existing. If so, you would need to re-size the pins or links to accommodate the sleeves.
Which dial on the gold Daytona do you think holds its value the most?
Don’t know for sure, but probably the meteorite dial is the most valuable, then diamonds on the dial adds value, and then next the ‘Paul Newman” is added value.
cool watches and congrats on the new gold Daytona but you are missing the SS Daytona. Lol I know you don't want to buy on the secondary but now the prices came down quite a bit as opposed to April so actually right now it's a great time to buy one in my opinion which is what I did. I bought a white dial one because I know I will probably never get it from any of my ADs and if for whatever crazy reason I'm offered one then I'll buy it anyway, You mentioned that you prefer the black dial one and those are going for less than the white one, something like 25K which is pretty reasonable compared to last year as I said but that's my opinion and obviously you will have to do whatever you think is best for you.
Totally fine to buy secondary, and then sell it once you get the call from the AD. I've thought about doing that before. But not quite ready to do that, especially since I am so happy with my full yellow gold Daytona...
@@sc1 beautiful watch as I said but more delicate than the ss one of course. It’s not a watch to wear everyday for sure. Yes, if I’m offered a ss Daytona I’d sell this one and keep the new one. You are right about that.
Does this watch get you any looks from the ladies? Man, this watch and your gold GMT are two watches I would find difficult if not impossible to resist if I ever get the opportunity to buy a new one. It makes a great looking watch collection!
Yellow gold does get some looks from the females. Because it stands out. Yellow gold with diamonds is extra special. I've gotten some comments about it. (...Is that a Rolex?)
White gold -- It is not noticed. I wear the White Gold just for myself. Makes me feel great to wear. This is the 'Stealth Wealth' look.
Just got rid of my day date II diamond hours. Considering this daytona or platinum with baguettes. Thoughts?
Oh, yes, either Daytona is highly recommended. Platinum is more pricey, and a different look.
My New York Rolex dealer says Rolex would not allow the plastic bezel protector to leave the shop, what location allows for this? Thanks.
Both my Pennsylvania ADs remove the stickers, but allow me to keep the bezel protector. I once got the plastic/styrofoam shipping coffin, but they are now keeping them.
@@sc1 thanks for info. your video remind me today to text my New York AD about the 2023 60th anniversary Daytonas. They just replied that they are not taking reservation requests on the 2023 yet. :(
My most favourite watch in my collection as well! I do think it wears a bit smaller the 40 mm
What we're the waiting times for you? Enjoy it in good health
I had prior purchase history here. If I recall, I waited several months for the Two-tone Daytona, then 2 more months for this full gold Daytona.
Good 👍👍👍👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Which is more popular, the Oysterflex model or the Allgeumtong model?
The Oysterflex model is in more demand than the all gold versions. Maybe because it is more affordable (?)
What is pretty?
Hello from Germany. I love this Rolex too 😍. Where can I buy it?
i'm stuck between this and the eisenkiesel. Trading my AP royal oak chrono 26331st stainless steel reverse panda
just saw the eisenkeisel in-person. it is amazing.
What is the retail on this?
Actually the "paul newman" aspect relates not to the steel daytona, but the all gold "john player special". For this reason i prefer to call it a JPS dial rather than paul newman as there is really zero resemblence to the exotic dials.
I suppose I stand corrected. I did not know any of that. (I need to up my research game).
My grail watch
mine too
My 116505 has ceramic sleeves and 116508 doesn't. Feels almost the same when I use them. Keeping same shape of case and flush fit from 16528, 116508 is slightly classical model.
Thank you very much for confirming this. I just don't understand why they did not include the ceramic sleeves in the yellow gold. It's a great feature, in my opinion.
@@sc1 It's a mystery of rolex engineering. According to some secondry watch shop clerks, 116505 and 116506 has sleeve and 116508 and 116509 doesn't. I also think ceramic is reasonable way to make bracelet more reliable👍
@@sc1 it is most likely a situation of an older design versus new. The YG 116508 has the older, slimmer case design (same as the steel and TT models) while the RG 116505 has the newer, wider lug case with more turned down lugs. Rolex has now transitioned all of the new generation 2023 Daytonas to this newer case design. I suspect that the old YG slim cased watches (like yours) also carried with them the older bracelet design without the ceramic inserts for the pins.
I paid 55K for 2022 Rose Gold Diamond Baguette (Retail 47k) - Grey dealer as i cannot buy watches that i don't like - which rolex AD usually tells to do
All those heavy hitters and the ad hasn’t offered you a steel Daytona?
Unfortunately not, it has become the elusive unicorn for me. I just gave up trying a couple years ago.
The links 100% have the ceramic sleeves. 100% i changed my wifes links myself. I dont know what the AD is playing at there....
From the links they removed in store, my particular Daytona definitely does NOT have the ceramic sleeves. It's a brand new piece just arrived last week at the AD. Do only certain Daytonas have the ceramic sleeves? Maybe I should remove an extra link myself and double check.
@S C the sleeves are very obvious as you may have experienced. I would do as you say and check a link to see. I... wouldnt be happy if it was without. I couldnt imagine it would be the case that everose has sleeves but the yellow does not. What I will sympathise with, the ceramic sleeves are a pain to install but I would not wear it without them of course!
Yes, they were very obvious to see on my WG GMT and YG DD, but I definitely did not see them on the removed links from the AD. I saw the watch with all links installed before they removed 3 links in the back.
My older screwdriver has worn down, so I will order another, then remove an extra link just to double check. It didn't make sense to me that the YG Daytona line would be the only one without ceramics.
@@sc1 please make a video regarding this scandal 😅
@@sc1 I just bought a new (4130 movement) Daytona 116505, full rose gold. 100% it has ceramic sleeves in the bracelet. My white gold Sub 126619LB also has ceramic sleeves. Interestingly though they are different colors - black sleeves on my 2021 Sub and white sleeves on my 2023 Daytona.
i had an option to buy two-tone 18k retail black dial daytona but i declined as it felt like a cheap 1970s watch
Is this also known as paul newman?
yes
Must be nice to just walk in a AD and just drop $5k like your buying a gallon of milk 😂
You can only wear this watch in a bunker 🤔🤣
Not in Florida 🔫
Wearing it now at work. Most of the staff are working from home due to the weather… so it’s almost like a bunker. 😉
Not for me but if that's your thing, enjoy it and wear it in good health. My Rolex style is 1960s brushed steel only. Anything shiny or polished, precious metal or gems is an immediate no go. Where I come from, this smacks of bad taste.
이자는 보내 버려야 해, 한번 보낸자를 왜또 입당 시켰지?
Enjoy your watch and DONT resell. With Rolex CPO coming to your area soon, they will be tracking resellers through buying back pre owned watches and if they purchase your watch, you will be blacklisted. The game is about to change my friend. Rolex is about to show the flippers how to flip! Stay tuned!
I will not sell this piece. Never had any intention to sell it. I am Enjoying it too much.
But true, I think anyone who sells a recent sports Rolex will get noticed. And then no more offers for them. Anyone planning to flip from an AD should now be deathly afraid of doing so.
Hopefully, this leaves more availability for true collectors and people like me who actually enjoy the experience of wearing Rolex.
I am suspecting that Rolex is already doing this with Grey Market Dealers. Posing as buyers and purchasing the flipped watches, and tracking them back down to the AD where it was originally bought, and then blacklisting that client who sold to the Grey.
Totally agree with you. Once you go Gold it’s hard to go back to steel watches. Steel just doesn’t feel as special.
What is interesting, though, Rolex Steel takes on the value of gold, in many cases.
