@@braedynherbst2848 Dimash had to make changes to the original score to be able to sing it. Laura just sang the original. Dimash is an amazing singer but he couldn't sing the original diva dance.
This woman just casually spits out soprano high E flats and F Sharps like they were nothing on a random day and still to this day is the only person who’s most accurately covered this masterpiece.
The highest note is G, right? I didn't think I could reach it, but apparently I could. Nowhere near as controlled as hers, lol...
As a regular human, I don’t really understand what any of those words mean! As a guitarist, I need about 3 meters more neck and about 30 extra hands to even come close to doing what Laura did.
Yes out of the 3 best covers of this song Laura is the closest to the original score. Jane Zhang skipped a few notes, however she has a very crystalline head voice tone which makes her performance very pleasant to listen. Dimash's cover is the least accurate (lower key, very simplified run, staccatos less than an octave apart) however he is an entertainer and is definitely the most entertaining to watch. Although simplified, the accuracy in his staccatos are insane.

Edit 2020: Its a shame I haven't been back to this video since I was 15 (when I wrote this) I'm a little bit taken a back by the amount of likes and responses. To explain myself, I knew autotune was editing but I obviously didn't know that it didn't cover this type of editing. Which is recordings cut together to create an alien like voice :3

I can't believe how stupid some ppl are. The sing is not "not possible" to sing at all. In the movie it's just about the flute added with the computer at the one part. But that's all thats impossible...because a human is not a flute!

Her voice was live. She wasn't singing along with an audible recording like the girl in this video, and she sang it way better than the person linked above. That was terrible, lazy, slurred and off in many parts. The one I linked was live, legit. Search her up in other videos.
@@adamaj74 I'm saying they were using a vocoder and synthesized so many small parts of her performance like that alien run of hers at 4:20, imo I would rather a showcase of pure vocal talent to the best of a singers abilities rather than mask it behind effects and backing tracks. Dimash's bastau concert diva dance performance was just way too spectacular, especially with his added lower registers that the female singers can't reach. Its the most versatile performance I have ever seen of this song

I have at least 35 different singers performing The Diva Dance, and YOU are the ONLY one that has hit every note as written. You didn't have to rewrite it to remove the Octave drops to suit your voice, your voice was perfectly capable of hitting each note! All of the covers come very close, but there are still incomplete musical sentences because it is physically impossible to change pitch at the speed of the original, especially since the original was spliced recordings put together specifically MADE to be impossible. The writer himself has said no one has done it perfectly, including this woman and many others.
It has more to do with the accessibility. The talent show chick showed up in my recommended while this video I had to search. And obviously someone on a big talent show will receive more attention than people in practice rooms and random opera houses

@@BloodofPatriots NOP, she was too young for that piece and her voice was/is VERY high, so in the middles sounds awful, sounding like a old lady trying to swallow something, but in the other hand the high notes sound well, and of course the lack of technic with the flute part sounds very unconfortable for her and hilly.

@@yell0w355 dimash's version isn't the most accurate because he is an original singer and wants to show that he can hit every note perfectly (which he does) and then go even further by adding tougher notes, movements, and more. He is always about taking a song, singing it to perfection, and then improving it to a level he thinks suits his own style

This is true. I myself thought it was humanly impossible because Mula said so and because the original soundtrack is so obviously edited (certain notes sounding like they were made on a synthesizer). I was suspicious when this girl started singing with a background track that she would just drop out at the hard jumps and make it look like she was still singing, but it seems that she did indeed manage to sing "the impossible song" without editing her own voice. Sounds better than the original, in my opinion, because it sounds natural. I wish she'd attempted the aria too. The "Il dolce suono" aria is truly beautiful (and a bit creepy given its context in the original opera "Lucia di Lammermoor").

I first watched the fifth element about 7 years back and found this video within that year. I've consistently returned to this video because it never gets old. Love it even more each time I re watch it. And the thing is I will sit here and listen to it on loop. Granted I don't do that every day but for not getting tired of a song after 7 years of listening to it... I think that says a LOT.

It’s now 15 years later and I’ve tried to look up every performance of this song and absolutely NO ONE does it like you! You were the first I ever listened to. I was blown away by the precision, so now when I listen to anyone else there always comes a shortcoming and I’m like “nope!” You are the standard that all others pale before! That scene from The Fifth Element is absolutely mesmerizing, and to have you actually sing something which is not supposed to be singable by a human is incredible. Yes and no. That was still the singers voice but they did make her voice have a more echoey tone to it.

They used recordings of her voice and used MIDI to get the notes they wanted. Was it her voice in the movie? Yes. Did she actually sing it like this young lady just did? *NO*.

So here's the thing about the end part of the Diva song in Fifth Element. Even the operatic singer who sang the song couldn't hit the notes. Then notes were intentionally done at such far octaves so that a HUMAN couldn't do it.
My conclusion .. This woman is an alien ... and she is more than an amazing singer!!
This was literally written to be un-sing able by human vocal cords and yet you nailed every note without being pitchy... I have heard many people attempt this and so far no one has been able to do this without editing the song to fit their vocals or autorunning it but it sounds and appears that you did this without either which is astonishing to be honest, either I have missed something or you truly have a rare gift indeed and should be signed immediately by someone.
Hat's off and major props to you, if you managed this, then there is nothing you couldn't sing and sound amazing doing it.

Out of all the performances of the "Diva Dance" song, this is my favorite. So powerful and perfect. As soon as she hit the first high note, I had goosebumps. She looks like a more beautiful version of Pam from The Office.

I've heard many versions, but in my opinion Laura is the only one during these 23 years to have ever nailed it completely, with every note having perfect pitch, timing and tonal quality.
Even after all of these years I've not heard anyone give this a go that got any closer than Laura. What an amazing singing voice. So yeah the computerized section is literally impossible for any human to duplicate precisely but I've not heard anyone do any better than Laura on that part.
