In Islam we do not "celebrate" the dead or worship tombs. We follow the sunnah of the Prophet, his words and guidance.

@@seanshui5909 The 10th of Muharram is ASHURA (means 10th in Arabic!): according to the sunnah of the Prophet, what ALL Muslims should follow, on this day we celebrate Allah's miracle on Prophet Musa and the liberation of Bani Isra'il from pharaoh's tyranny. There is NOTHING about getting all hysterical, beating oneself up for Hussein's death: this is pure innovation.

@@farid7838 that is not the universal jewish tradition, plus why would rasulallah take traditions from the jews? When Hussein was born angel Gabriel came down and informed the prophet that his grandson will be killed by people who claim to follow muhammad. The prophet himself wept whenever he remembered that before he passed away. The tradition of fasting on the 10th of muharram is fabricated by the banu umayyad trying to cover up them killing the family of the prophet

Our prophet (S.A.W) instructed the Muslims to fast a day before Ashura ( 9th Muharram) and the day of Ashura to differentiate our fasting from the Jews ( who also observe Ashura). And some scholars have said fasting the day after Ashura is permissible too, but majority opinion say fasting the day before is recommended if you are able to, and Allah (S.W.T) knows best

    • @thelightofislam3425

In an hadith narrated by Abdullah ibn Abbaas (R.A) that when the prophet (S.A.W) was told the Jews and Christians venerated the day of Ashura, he (S.A.W) said "Next year if Allah wills, we will fast on the ninth day" (Muslim 1916). So, the recommended way is to fast the 9th and the 10th. But since the legislation was to differentiate the fasting of the Muslims from the fasting of the people of the books, some scholars said fasting the 10th and 11th will also make the fast different from the fast of the people of the books who only fast on the 10th. And Allah (S.W.T) knows best.

Asalamu alaikum! This is not a fard fast, so missing it doesn’t require makeup. You can listen to the Qur’an (don’t recite it), make dhikr, and give charity. And Allah (S.W.T) knows best.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Husayn is from me, and I am from Husayn & Allah(swt) loves whoever loves Husayn"
Ashura is a major event for all Muslims that the holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) grandson Husayn(as) was slaughtered for having stood up for truth & justice against oppression & tyranny with alot of his family against Yazeed.
Please do not underestimate this sacrifice as it was done for the sake of Allah(swt) to Keep the holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) Islam from being hijacked from it's Prophetic authenticity.
This truly is a universal message that unfortunately a lot of Muslims & other people tend to ignore or merely overlook sadly hence not truly benefitting from it's divine spiritual essence.
However by disacknowledging Ashura, I feel would be a real source of displeasure & disrespect to the sanctity & pure love that the holy Prophet Mohammad(saw) had held in high esteem for both his grandsons & grand-daughters.

WRONG. 1) The Day of Ashura is clearly a day of remembrance of Prophet Musa and Bani Isra'il saved from pharaoh. 2) Based on the Prophet's recommendation, we fast on that day. 3) In Islam we do not celebrate the dead or worship tombs. 4) Shias are lost and a disgrace to Islam.
