Found a very informative radio interview outlining the bands early days and how the live shows were always the focus rather than chasing the big record deal. Seems fitting that this album/track is a fan favourite.

Mikes vocal was too thin in the mix so I am pretty sure they used Blackies vocal in the post production, Blackie was pissed when they released this.

It's clear that Chris isn't suited to play Crimson Idolsongs. Maybe he could've been up for it in the 80s, but he destroyed his own skills at some point - To the point where Blackie even had to play some of the leads here?! Bob Kulick & Doug Aldrich delivered some fantastic riffs and solos for Crimson Idol, and even Doug Blair has a difficulty with them... Chris is just better off doing his own thing now, because this was a bit embarrassing to watch

Chris is a solid player IMO, he was so messed up back then. As for solos, Blackie called ALL the shots, he eliminated most of Chris's solos live for whatever reasons. Trust me, Chris would not be afraid of soloing, though he wasn't into soloing for 10min like other guys from the era
