- The Sting is a live album and DVD by the band W.A.S.P. Originally released as a DVD/CD set, it is also available as a CD on its own.
The concert was originally recorded and shown as a live webcast, which happened during the bands Helldorado World Tour. The DVD of the show (and the webcast) is the first live footage of the band to feature Blackies signature microphone stand, dubbed 'Elvis' by band and fans alike.

Chris has the baddest ass guitar sound of all time. I am 51 year old, playing guitar for 30 years and my guitar idol sound is still Holmes. Like Eddy VH has his sound, Chris has his. So raunchy... Love it. No one else sounds like Chris Holmes. Then the un earthly vocals of Blackie....The perfect METAL STORM.. W.A.S.P. Forever.
good to see, that iam not alone. 51 years also... seeing this from 2000 i have tears in my eyes... saw them back in the 90ties in germany, chris needed some oxigenmask behind the stage... but, fuck, so great... seeing this and getting older is a deadly mixture...
Wasp fan for life here...since earliest days. Love that they're touring the US again now...BUT....aint the same without Chris Holmes. His playing was all his own and u can tell how much he loved what he was doin. They have to reunite

I was wondering WHO knows WHY blackie changed from bass to guitar?
He only played bass on the first two albums because nobody else would. He actually hated the instrument. When Randy left, he got Johnny Rod to come in and he was an actual bass player. Blackie is actually really good on an acoustic guitar.
Thanks. I've always wondered that question too.
He changed from bass to guitar for a couple of reasons. 1 He hated playing bass as he called it a tool of ignorance. 2. Randy left the band after the release of The Last Command and Blackie took over guitar duties.

A second guitar player was needed and the vocalist was also a guitar player. There are other bands where vocalists are also guitar players. Such as Metallica, Queens Ryche , Mega Death, Motor Head( bass), Foo Fighters etc.

Michael Ward Mike Duda does sound exactly like him. But not as raspy.
+chris smith Unfortunately, he does not. That is Blackie on backingtrack. There are several videos where backingtracks are not used, and Duda sounds nothing like Blackie. But it doesn't really matter. It's done to make the experience better. And they have done it for decades. They did some really good backingvocals with Johnny Rod, and some with Randy Piper.

Blackie is one of those rare singers, he has a great voice and no need to lip sinc at all, he is just as good live then on track!
