Little 302 fighting quite a battle against bigger engines with automatic tranmissions! Nice job Billy!
Back in the 80's we had tons of quick SBF. We had a local racer that was super competitive with a little 65 stang with a 302, nothing crazy just a kit or two with Great all around tuning. Not the fastest, but put many a big block to shame.

Racing on back roads, with my friends, for bragging rights, is the most fun I've had racing. I've bracket raced at tracks for years, but this is just more fun, and not so expensive. Lovin the content!

Funnest racing so far was me and my brother in law… at the track, both with 2000 s10’s, 5 speed, 4cyl… man they were slow but it was a drivers race at that point and we had a blast!

Its always going to be some asshat complaining about what other people are doing because its not something they like or feel its appropriate vs sitting back to watch and enjoy. Im lucky i have good neighbors so when i take my car out i do it in front of their houses, if its a grudge race between friends like this most of the time i blow the horn when i go down the road and when i come back its one of them standing there with a flash light and another walking don to put the light at the 1/8 mile mark. Imagine when country living is gone and all these asshats are piled up on each other complaining because the smoke off your grill is coming past their windows....if cooking on a grill is even legal then lol
I grew up in the 70s we had a concrete road about an 1/8 mile from my house nick named Sandy Brae drag strip. All we heard from Thursday to Sunday night was racing. They even had the start and finish lines painted on the road. My parents never once called the police. I did get in a lot of trouble for sneaking down there to watch them race. Now i'm 48 and finally got a car that can run with them and the road is shit!

@@lt_danslegs Depending on the state, up to 20 feet from the edge of the road counts as part of the road, mainly to accommodate ditches, driveways and signage.
@@shidwidley Should have read this comment before I posted, think Montana is 18 feet per side... not sure about Ohio.
Our right ot way is usually double the width of the road, so we cut that in half and measure from the center. Or from the center to the edge is the same distance you have from the edge to your property line. That is for a county or what we call back road. I know it's different for municipality, county and state. State is obviously more and some big hwy's are as much as 80 to a 100 ft right of way.
A gard rail is not a property line, most states own property at least 10-15 feet past a gard rail for a tractor to be able to mow behind it and for maintenance

Now this is what everyone loves to see real STREET RACING.on a real street.with REAL street cars.thats what we do here in south arkansas.yall are the best channel on UA-cam
Only issue you will have is breaking the snout off the front of the crank if you power shift it and have a super grabby clutch or ripping the main webbing out turning it over 6500 constantly. I ran 15psi and a 150 shot probably 300+ times without much issue other than head gaskets on occasion. 15psi/150 shot made 585/620 wheel. Look up Project Stock Bottom End, Chris Watson was making over 800wheel on a SBE 302
Seen em let loose approaching the 700HP mark. But damn, they run good till then 👍
How the shit are you guys keeping a stock roller block together at that power level? I've filled and girdled blocks and still had them split at 600. I've lifted tons of heads but once that stopped they couldn't keep from splitting at the mains. Never broke a rod, crank or even hurt a piston. Shit one still ran with a block split so bad you could see it in the car.
@@picklefart RPM is what ive seen kill them the fastest, they break no question but seems harmonics/frequency from the 50oz imbalance above 6-6500 earthquakes the block....imo keep it under 6k or over 7k and it lives lol
@@young11984 If you keep them 6250 or below and you can't run them lean.. I think they live much longer. Had a stock block with power adder (old ball drive 6-7 psi with 125 shot sometimes) for 25+ years....killed transmissions and drivetrain parts but finally pulled the motor it was so tired/blown head gasket. Best engine ever.

You know the old saying, standards are more fun but automatics win races. That’s the only thing holding it back is the lag during shifts. But you know this. Billy a really cheap option you'd be able to pull is to do the stock 302 forged pistons on a stock 351W block with 351w rods & all you'd need to buy really is a stroker crank to make it a 387 ci motor. Maybe some trickflow heads to give it some higher compression along with your current nitrous gig. Cheap, and it'll give you a better power plant.
So glad the spot i race at is farm land & the people that live around it comes and watch & we been doing it at the same spot for 30+ years. It's less than 5 minutes from TKM's shop.
I sure hope you gave Karen a good ole boy REAL ESTATE LAW seminar [off camera] DOT Right of Way doesnt stop at the guardrail, usually past any ditch.
