yes 2.5lakh is compulsory but it will be refunded once you get college seat,This is done since around the time round 2 counselling starts KCET round 2 results and Predictions for Round 2 extented of KCET can be predicted and some students might try to bounce to KCET if it seems they can get a college in their rank,Basically done to trap students in Comedk and drive out anyone who might just be trying to see if they can get a seat and do not actually want admission with those fees.
Basically a gateblock so that they can get seats for thier loyal customers

Bhaiya in the "Steps to register for Counselling" section in STEP 1G says *Photographs of documents taken on mobile will be rejected, then how can we take photos of the documents? like we are gonna take a photo from the phone then scan it in the Adobe app, right?
