Malcolm is a wonderful fellow, Kenny. I've been very lucky to be trusted by him, have been able to borrow some very lovely razors. All the best to you.
Happen you were giddy with excitement as soon as you swapped that duffer of a blade out, Mark. It was most enjoyable to take part in your obvious pleasure in shaving with a very special razor. I was shaking my head at the prices you were reeling off. I can't imagine I would buy one either, even if I had that kind of money. Thank you very much Malcolm.
Happen, lad! I love that. Lee because I know where you live; I really like the incongruity of it. That blade was really bad - I could hardly believe it. I'll looking to see if I have any more to throw away. It's a very nice razor but expensive. Really expensive but that's the problem with small scale work that takes a lot of time. Still, it seems to be well in demand. Take care, pal. 👍
Thank you, very much. I think you're working your way through my videos. It's very to see your comments as you do that. Enjoy joy your weekend. Take care.
Hi Mark- Great shave and razor review; thank you! It was very nice to see how much you enjoyed using the Wolfman razor! Very delayed viewing on my part. I hope you are doing well and sending best regards, as always. Take good care, be safe, and be well, my friend!
A purchase of a Wolfman ought to include a complimentary mortgage payment! I will be getting the Lupo stainless in the mail Monday. I already have the aluminum, and enjoy using it very much. Razorock is well more budget-friendly in their fine line of razors, and are machined superbly.
Yes, that is true - that made me laugh. Let me know how you get on with your stainless Lupo and how it compares to the aluminium one. I'm sure it will be superb. I'll bet your looking forward to it 👍
Well this has stopped me from making a future purpose for sure lol. I have always trusted your judgement in razors bud and find your honesty to be brilliant no matter the expense or type of razor. I recently like yourself had the opportunity to use the wr1 and I thought it was pretty average. To hear you say it's smoother than the Lupo has saved me $59 on that razor! Cheers buddy top review!
Hi Cris. Thanks for the vote of confidence. I always try to be honest in my videos; I'd be mortified if I raved on about an expensive razor that everyone else thought it was rubbish! The Wolfman was good, for me; I'd have preferred a smaller blade gap, but I know what you mean about it being average; there are lots of razors that shave like it, or better, for less money. We are blessed these days with a huge selection of good razors to choose from. I still prefer my vintage razors 😃
Is the first time that I see one of your videos and I'm enjoying dearly because you talk all the time about the razor, which is why I look at shaving videos.
Thank you very much. I'm pleased you've enjoyed my video. I always try to focus on the razor, when I can. I do love a bit of history, with the vintage razors. Thank you for watching and writing a comment. Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
I find it very incredible to be able to communicate and share thoughts with someone that's maybe on the other side of the planet like they are old friends. There is something magical in that. Merry Christmas to you and everyone that loves shaving.
Great shave plenty of info on the razor it looks amazing but at that price it seems very expensive. Good change out on the blade early on ,good advice on that. Hope you have a good weekend
Thank you. It is very expensive - I wouldn't pay that much for a razor, personally. However, I'm very glad that Malcolm had one and loaned it to me. I've always wondered about the Wolfman and I'm pleased to have tried it. That blade was shocking! I don't think I've had one that bad before. Enjoy your weekend. All the best.
At one time I owned both a WR1 and WR2. This was of course before they were impossible to get and much cheaper in price. I wish I hadn't gotten rid of them:) I'm glad you got a chance to use one, it's a finely crafted razor:)
Thank you, Chris. It was terrific to see how the other half live 😉 It's a very nice razor; the WR2 looks very interesting. I find it difficult sometimes to say that one razor is better than another razor because the margins are so small and I'm far from being the perfect judge but I did enjoy this shave very much. I hope you're enjoying your weekend. Take care.
@@FriendshipShaving I agree with you, it's hard to say one is better than another. There are so many terrific shavers we're truly blessed. Hope you have a terrific weekend as well sir.
Malcolm really is a top fellow. He looks after us on this channel, along with Sven. It's a tough job having a video channel but someone's got to do it 😃😃👍
I really find the handle on that razor to be beautiful. As for the RR Lupo, that looks nice too. I'm not sure about aluminum though. I don't own an aluminum razor, so I can't say one way or another really. Being in manufacturing for a long time, I think if it were hard anodized, rather than coated, I'd feel better about it and more apt to buy one. It was a real treat to see the Wolfman👍👍👍
It certainly is a lovely handle on the Wolfman. I find it reminiscent of the old Gillette Bulldog handle. I guess everything in wet shaving these days is a copy of something. It was a very enjoyable shave - I think you might have noticed 😃 Have a good week. All the best.
Nice video and important information. I kept on reading how annoyed the Wolfman owners were at the Lupo.........well I can invest in a Lupo and then Wolfman (just watch your video). Thanks cheers. Ohh and regarding blades, I just experimented this week that if I soak a cork, and then pass a coated blade that I find rough through it 4 times, it improved...... I usually just discard them....but I was doing a review....so felt compelled to use the blade *which was fine corked*.
Do you know, I have a cork on the windowsill which I put there after one of our previous conversations; it didn't even occur to me to try that! How annoying - I had the perfect opportunity. I'll bet Wolfman owners were very annoyed at the production of the Lupo. I'm quite surprised RazoRock blatantly copied someone else's razor that is currently in production. Cheers.
Hello Mark, hope you are keeping well. That is a beautiful razor. Super Max Blue Diamond Titanium are in my top list of favourite blades. They are a buttery smooth blade in my Rockwell 6S. I got 10 Gillette Silver Blue and 10 Gillette Wilkinson Sword blades the other day. I had seen them mentioned quite a lot online, so I thought I would try some out.
The Titanium blades are smashing, it was quite a shock that the Platinum Plus blade was so bad! I've got some GSB's I'll get one out for next week and give it a go. I don't keep detailed records on my blades, so I tend to forget what they're like unless it's one I use a great deal. I like that Sputnik though. Take care, mate.
Thanks, Mark, for another interesting video and a super razor. This kind of high end product always brings to mind questions of value for money and the law of diminishing returns. When there are razors from respected brands at much lower prices it makes me wonder what does the Wolfman offer that other razors fail to deliver. And, is there really any point when the new stubble has grown back again the next day taking you back to square one😄. This sounds awfully negative but as you demonstrated, put a poor blade in the Wolfman and you get an uncomfortable shave. Maybe blades are more important than razors. Anyway, have a great weekend Mark👍😉.
It raises interesting questions, doesn't it. The gentlemen that manufactures these razors has a small CNC milling machine. It is very small scale and I've read that the handles can only be produced two at a time. I imagine the hand polishing is very time consuming. The finish is superb. Thierry pointed out that it's the blade that cuts, not the razor. A marvellous comment and very true. Take care, David. 👍
Hi, thank you for the great video! I’m currently debating between the WR1 with a 0.80 gap and the WR2 with either a 1.05 or 1.35 gap. Could you share your thoughts on which one provides a smoother shaving experience overall? I’m looking for a balance of efficiency and comfort. Appreciate your insights!
Hello. I'm afraid I'm not going to be much help. I've only tried the WR1 and so I'm not in a position to comment on the WR2. This video was fours years ago and I like milder razors now than I did then. And your skin will be different to mine, so questions like these are always quite challenging. Sorry my friend, but I'm about as much help as a chocolate fire guard.
Lucky you, a Wolfman. For 2yrs I was waitlisted, then lost patience. Was always wondering, whether it shaves much btr, but you've answered that. Tks my friend. So, its the old question, is a Benthley a btr car that a Mercedes S-version 6.9ltr? No, its not, but Its the same hype as for Rolex watches. Must admit I got mad with Wolfman, I'm thru with it. This might excuse myself. Yourself a great weekend n mny other great shaves it, b4 y return it. Susan n myself fm Singapore+
Gosh, that is a long time to be on a waiting list! I'm not surprised you got fed-up with the wait. No matter how expensive a razor is, they are all razors. I would prefer to drive a restored Mini Cooper 😃 You can keep your Bently 😅 Be well, my friend. Look after yourselves.
Hello, my friend. I hope you're well. I think a lot of people will be the same. Do you know, I've just shaved with a razor that suits me better, for a lot less money. Shh.. don't tell anyone! 🙂 Video on Friday.
Seen as the holy grail of DE shaving I believe. The workmanship and final finish to the razor look second to none although the level of efficiency for my personal taste might be a bit too much. Nice to see one in action that’s for sure.
Hi Paul. I think it seen as the holy grail - I don't quite fully understand why. It is a very nice razor but, speaking personally, I'm really not sure it's worth the money. The great thing about our hobby though is that there is something for everyone of all tastes and budgets. All the best, enjoy your weekend.
Great shave with a superb razor. You were right to change that blade right away. After all, it’s the blade that does the cutting, not the razor. IMHO, blade & technique are more important than the razor itself...
It was the worst blade I've ever used. That's a nice little saying you've coined: 'it's the blade that does the cutting, not the razor'. I like that very much. I've had great shaves with all sorts of razors, at varying prices - blade and technique are definitely King. Have a good weekend. All the best.
Hi Mark enjoyed your video excellent looking razor. I like quality but it’s a lot to pay unless you know 100% the razor is set perfectly for your shave which is why I bought a Rockwell. It’s good to have your opinion as I have said before it’s not possible for the majority of us to buy all these different razors to try. In that I should include soaps and blades so keep up the good work and many thanks.
Hello Leslie, I hope you're well. I agree, it is a lot to pay and there is always the chance that it doesn't quite suit you. I'm very fortunate to have been able to borrow the Wolfman razor but my vintage British Super Speed suits me just as well and cost me a lot less. I think it was £15! Cheers.
Friendship Shaving Mark I respect your opinions and for that reason I would like to ask which Semogue boar brush would you buy if you had to chose I have considered the 620,830 and the SOC as I know you have all 3. Many thanks in advance.
Thank you, Keith. I'm not quite sure I'd go that far, though 🙂 If I didn't have a video channel I would probably only keep a few razors to shave with. Although I would have a little display. I love the vintage razors best. I hope you're having a good weekend. Cheers 👍
Hmm, Mark sounds like a great razor but well out of my pay rate $300 for a handle is in my humble opinion well overpriced. Having said that it is also too heavy for my liking anyway and swapping out the blade makes real sense to me I stick to blades I know that will suit me too.
