Stingray fishing in Ireland On a day when the rain and clouds were all over Tralee Bay we headed to a secluded lagoon to target the Stingrays that congregate to feed up before the winter.
Baits on the day were fresh peeler crab and fresh mackerel and we were using two hook flapper rigs with size one kamasan hooks. There was some huge ones around but they seemed more interested in sun bathing and teasing us than anything else. - Навчання та стиль
Great Ray fishing never thought you could catch stingrays in Ireland
Ya man though they are localised to kerry and some in the Shannon estuary too. They are great fighters
WOW!!!!! unbelievable mate. Some top fishing mate well done! 🎣🎣🎣
You make it look easy Chris.Nice one...
Thanks mate I was praying I wouldn't lose it on the camera or there would of been lots of bleeps
Bravo mate fantastic fish very jealous!! 👏👏👏👍
@simon Davies thanks man it was a great day out. The only pity was the tide coming in
Great fish 🎣
Thanks man 👍👍
Nice upload thanks Chris! Well done on the Stingrays and that surely is a lovely venue. I think I'll pass on trying to catch one of them - when viewed head on, they look like something out of Star Wars! Stay safe & well. 👍👍
Lol yes they are a mad looking fish for sure. I love them for the most part they really give a good scrap specially in the shallows. Plus it's the only fish I genuinely think I've a shot at the irish record with
@@Inshore_Angler Best of luck with the record attempt then! Just don't get "Stingered"!
really want a stingray wish we had them over here well done once again
Thanks man it was unreal I couldn't believe the clarity and then there was so many in the pool at one time. We were like kids
@@Inshore_Angler the sea looks Mediterranean nice there
Nicely done Chris...cracking fish. 😎
Thanks mate how's your channel coming along?
@@Inshore_Angler Hi Chris...slowly gaining sunscribers..think the videos are getting better with more practice. Whole new game to me making videos and it's trying to do it so it doesn't interfere with the fishing too much.
Ya that's a real pain in the ass I have Lost a few fish now trying to get the camera set up properly but it's worth it in the end when the video comes out well
very interesting videos me and my son go to fenit we are only amatures would like to see you baiting up keep up the good work
Hi Denis
I'm just catching up on the comments. If you look back at the video with the Yuki bait tool I go thru a bit of baiting up but would be happy to try and cover any baits in particular you wanted
I think I just realised where this exact mark is and I am delighted. I have never fished it but always fancied it as a Stinger mark.
There is only one way to find out if your right 😜😜 don't get cut off by the tide and the sand bars if you haven't fished there before
@@Inshore_Angler cheers for the advice, I am always extremely careful about getting cut off by the tide, and know it will happen here if one is not careful. Can I ask does it only fish for ray in August or would it be worth a backup for next week if the usual spots are weeded out? I am fairly sure I know the mark as I used to stay in the area for a week in the summer and I would have been near there for a different purpose 😉
@@garylawlor2288 lol if your other purpose had a delightful room that was green your on the right path. I have only had bass off it this early in the year but there should be rays near it all the time it's the perfect ground for them
@@Inshore_Angler sound man Chris I appreciate that. Yeah that would have been my 2nd reason for being there 😆. If all else fails
Thumbs up 🙂
Thanks buddy 👍👍
Nice one chris. Some serious water clarity there at the moment
Ya man it was unreal its usually very good there but that was next level stuff
@@Inshore_Angler ya was out there a few days ago walking and couldnt get over how nice it was
@@IrishAnglingAdventures just saw the hound video pop up there now. Did you get a fishing while on the nature walk? Had my eyes on them lobster pots that washed up but they were cleared today 😭
@@Inshore_Angler ya put that up this morning. No wasnt fishing just scoping out the place. I didnt even see lobster pots hahaha eyes here too glued to the water and not stepping on jellyfish 🤣
Class fishing again Chris!
Just found this channel.
You got ya self a new sub mate.
Awesome fishing 🎣
Thanks Mike really appreciate that heading for 2k subs now so that's a great buzz
Its not easy is it? I'm new to all this UA-cam posting video nonsense myself and its hard.
Just keep posting videos and it seems they spread out to people every day.
All the best 👍
Thanks man it's great to see the channel reaching new anglers I look forward to having a look at your channel when I get a chance 👍
I wouldnt get your hopes up haha
Mines done on my phone and with zero editing skills. I just glue videos together and thats it. I'm still to actually catch a decent fish on 🎥 .
Considering changing the name to my blanking adventures 🤔
@@fishinmalarkey9830 ha don't give up hope I only use the phone and gopro so far and I've come an awful long way in a year and a bit. The editing is all about patience and a good phone cover for when you want to smash it
Hi Chris, great catch, how long have stingrays been around the south west coast? Can you eat Stingray?
From what I can gather they started to show up in the late 70s and early 80s. Like crocodile Dundee said you can eat them but they taste like shit 😂. I personally wouldn't kill any of the rays I just really love the look of them.
Class bit of action there buddy. Was hoping to get down that way after them but seems like half of Ireland has flocked to Kerry this year for there holidays. Might get down later in the year but will probably be a bit late for the Stingers by then. Do you catch painted ray there most of the year or is it mainly the summer months?
That's the beauty and pain of kerry the whole of Ireland is indeed down here and most have bought camper vans during lock down by the looks of it. 😂. Painted are more prevalent Sept Oct and November in my opinion around here. Its still possible to get a stinger then but you need to get lucky
@@Inshore_Angler thanks you for the advice Chris. Stay well and tight lines bud
Lovely looking fish. Is that Derrymore ??
Right side of the bay but wrong part 😉 at the rate kerry is being Invaded by tourists I can't give away the exact spot
@@Inshore_Angler No worries at all Chris thanks for the reply and keep up the good work.
Will do man thanks for the comments they really help the channel
Nice one Chris, how come you had to play your one so much in the shallows?
It's hard to tell from the video but my one would of been double the weight of the one jp got. Some of them just come in nice and handy and others go ballistic. When they turn to go and the line ends up under them there is a chance of pulling the hook or their weight breaking your hook length so more care is needed
Chris O'Sullivan, The Inshore Angler. Good to know next time I’m out😃
I never new Ireland had stingray
Ya and luckily they visit about 20 mins from my house 😂
I'm heading down that way in the nxt few weeks any tips on where to go
Hey James what are you looking to target?
@@Inshore_Angler tbh I'm not to sure was hoping a Ray are tope
I am coming down next Friday 14 I like to go fishing with u
What a great way to fish mental conditions
Ah Paul man you should of been there at one stage there one one doing laps of a rock outcrop with no interest in bait. Then there was a gang of 5 or 6 small ones darting around with the odd brute just lazing thru. It was like living in the discovery channel
