This is one of the best informative install video! Thank you you made this very easy for my to understand and complete my dual battery system. I hope you will make more videos on solar instal and inverters. Thank you for sharing
Where you put your hand when suggesting an inverter location works just fine. Face the inverter face with the 120v receptacles inboard. I used nylon spacers on the mounting screws to allow air circulation behind the inverter.
Question I have an 87 tin top but still thinking of getting a solar panel due to an upgrade of stereo system any recommendations ? BTW Love the video !!! Thanks 👊🏻
Please keep up the video write ups.. I am looking for a westy myself... I plan on installing 2 lithium batts... Perhaps relocating the main battery since its smaller and putting lithium batts under each front seat? If so....where would you suggest relalocating the main batt to? I fully support your channel.. I am in socal los angeles myself....
My van is wired for the factory aux. battery, but I cannot find the relay. Bentley shows it in the diagram, but not the actual location. I'll eventually figure it out, but any clues are appreciated.
Super helpful video! I was just wondering how much money this put you back? I got an 84 this summer and am looking to do some upgrades, the previous owner put an auxiliary battery in but it doesn’t get charged when the van is running
how did you figure all this out? are you an electrical engineer? Electrical work seems over my head, but I'd like to do some of this stuff. Did you ever think of a "kill switch" for security, so that you can have a secret switch that disconnects the batter from starter? Thanks!
Just trial and error my friend. Been messing around with electronics since I was young. Look up some basic foundations on youtube about current, voltage, and resistance and go from there. Think of electricity as water and how it flows. I thought about putting a kill switch, but had a GPS tracker on the van so I didn’t worry too much bout it.

Glad I could help! I will be posting updates to the van as I go along.

This setup is insane!! I’m jealous
Thanks. Did you have to delete the swivel on the driver’s seat? (or was it already done?)
Such a nice system. Why did you choose a car starter battery for your house battery?
Very well done! Great diagram too thanks much
Ver nice. Tell me, where did you find a usb three socket panel that attaches underneath to the tray? Thank you

Great job! Awesome set up man!
VW offered a second battery option M-558 and provision for a second alternator too.

Good information and innovation. Thanks!
How did you remount the seat swivel?
Do you have the wiring diagrams?

I want to say I spent around $300-$450 in parts including the battery.
If you have a manual transmission you can bump start it going about 5mph forward(second gear) or backward (put it in reverse)
Yeah, but when you have it fully loaded for camping or traveling it is almost impossible to push (almost 3 tons).
@@smelsfishy True, but any slight slope will do. And if you have a friend or two!
Great video! I don’t know how I missed it, I would’ve done things more like you did! What year is your vanagon?
It's an 84'.
Can I connect 33 amps hours to 66 amps hours battery
Yes
Yes per comment above but they have to be the same type, maybe even make of battery in order to charge and be used appropriately.
Hey might be a dumb question but what gage wire are you using on the various parts of the installation. Also awesome video!

Really good video. Thanks
Fuse box splice doesn't link
So besutifull t3 you have !
So informative one! Awesome!
Is the fridge and sink rrunning off the aux battery???
The fridge runs off propane when I am parked, and off the battery while driving. The splice at the original fuse box redirects power to the sink.
And the factory light above the table?
@@freshkoko699 That splice also allows that light to run off the aux.
