No joke, I’ve read that there’s a gang of LITERAL Arab royals on Firemaw (I think) EU who bought gold all the way to gold cap buying their way to full BIS. I think they joined a guild called or something like that.
I strongly believe GDKP is the main source of gold buying. The inflation on Era is nuts right now, arcane crystals were like 40 gold a month ago, and now it's around 90 gold on Firemaw EU cluster. People are spending 60k+ on trinkets right now and getting 10k payout splits from Naxx 40. I was literally in a GDKP where a guy had to explain to somebody else (who had full T3 and other naxx pieces) what to do on C'thun in ARABIC on voice, and he was the same person who spent around 90k for himself and for his friend. This is the reason why I decided to quit Era, I couldn't be bothered to spend 500 gold+ on consumes and having to play 24/7 to keep myself afloat in terms of gold. I'm hoping it'll get better for classic+ or whatever they will name it.
My issue with GDKP is it puts a price tag on everything. Essentially if the game facilities gold buying (WoW Token etc), then the game becomes P2W. Yes, it might have always existed to some degree, but the second it becomes normalized, it corrupts and damages the game. If your a normal casual player, you VERY quickly get get out inflated/priced out of the content........UNLESS you crumble and are forced to spend real money. It's not just that either. It encourages spending money to progress. It encourages boosting. It encourages a bad gaming mentality rather than having fun.
This 100%. I also always had a tight-nit environment in my guild. We run instances for one person even if the rest of us need nothing. We help organize raids to farm things for a small number of players. Giving items to guildies for free. It’s an environment that GDKP does not support. It’s a loot method that revolves around buying gold and “every man for themselves”. It’s like charging guildies for items.
I left Diablo 4 too. Sooo disappointed. Had the itch to come back to wow. Havent played much since Vanilla-TBC. Tried retail a few times but was just so confusing and feels like a different game. I just rolled on Whitemane too and having a lot of fun on my hunter.
GDKPs and Blizzards inaction on RMT and botting utterly destroyed classic. The whole game revolves around gold buying for GDKP loot and the number of normal guilds vs GDKP groups now is insane. I fullstop quit once the Wow Token was added and just can't bring myself to give Blizzard money. At least I can always go back to retail to play as a tiny cartoon fox while pokemon battling and collecting toys for my toy box. Just got a cool new corsage that I only had to spend 5 dollars on!!! I love Blizzard!!!
