    Myself, British born and citizen of, until the age of 14 (1978). I was already a fan of JT and your incredible songwriting. Largely due to my older brother of four years sharing all of your albums.
    When Broadsword and The Beast was released here in the states, I was obsessed with it. I saw the incredible concert as I did the 3 previous tours at The New Haven Coliseum and shared the enthusiasm with my friends. Maybe America had Mtv up the arse. But I consider it one of your absolutely greatest albums on all levels.
    Brilliant and Thank you, Sir. For all of it.

    So far, I like Shoshanna, the tune and the squishy guitar lurking underneath. I am glad to hear you talking about the album and the songs more than you have previously. It's a good thing.
    Aqualung was just a fantastic album, and so glad you had the guts to put it out there. Also Thick As A Brick was wonderful from the start. Broadsword I always think of the brilliant Clasp.
    Homo Erraticus was thin. Nothing about the subject matter, but I wish there was more meat to it. You gotta follow your bliss and you've been doing pretty well so far, and hopefully well into the future. I hope I am wrong but I wonder if you are cutting corners in your newer music.

    The idea of a zealot gene, and the message of the song are very much appropriate today, given the zealot gene has become so manifested at one end of the ideological spectrum, to a point where those who thought their sentiments fell in the middle of the spectrum begin to find themselves labeled as "zealots" .

    Dear Ian Anderson & Jethro Tull! Wonderful to have a new Jethro Tull Album!!! Interesting new style of the songs you released early! I like them and will get the records. I've enjoyed your music since being a teenager in East Germany. Thick as a Brick, A Passion Play, Heavy Horses( not to forget Benefit etc.) are still among my absolute favorites and back then were providing atmosphere to many a gathering with dear friends. Thank you!
    I wished you would do an album with Steeleye Span, my son, whose absolute favorite band it is, pointed out that you recorded at least one song (Old Matron) with them. Maybe... I just had to tell you. Cordially, Bernhard in Wisconsin

    Ian sometimes you need to be the control freak, as opposed to handing over music and lyrics to people who influence how potential fans and buyers frame your music - especially when the lyrics are so dense and cryptic only you can possibly understand what they are about. Oh, no, you might reveal something. Just from one fan since 1971, over time I find I always enjoy the music, but having to be herded through the chutes and corridors of your lyrics to only see such marvelous music through lyrics that draw too much damn attention to themselves and sometimes frame ideas well, but mostly get captures by stuff like "snot running down his nose", "sperm's in the gutter", "kissing willie" ... after 50 or so years those lyrics are an albatross hanging around the neck of some really otherwise amazing and transcendent music. I don't know, maybe you mean to do that, or maybe you've never thought about it, or maybe it is some neurotic compulsion that drives your creativity ... just wondering aloud. And, to wonder again ... I do and always did quite like "the excrement bubbles" because it fits and was not grossly shoehorned in, pun intended. Very anxious to get the ZG drop in a couple days!

      Excuse me for interfering, you did forget the warm fart at Christmas 🤭 or maybe you don' t consider this song is musically worth mentioning (in comparison to Baker St. muse for example), I do not know. Anyway.
      I've just been watching you for a long time (inevitably), I do not want to disagree with you just to disagree, nor to praise Ian Anderson's work as if he were a god. You are a demanding fan and we may have this right because Tull's music is for demanding listeners mainly. They have accustomed us to complex compositions, it makes sense, but I think it is not a bad thing sometimes some of their songs are easier or lighter if i can say it like that.
      But I think it just happens that some songs focus more on the music part and are more creative in it while others lag behind in it but are offset by a more sophisticated part of lyrics.
      In conclusion, sometimes it is a heavy poetic verse or lighter with more simple music or with more complex music, other times. There are many combinations and experimentation is something good and legitimate. It 's up to the muse every time 😉
      I agree that Ian should not limit his creativity which does not need special interventions. Especially to become commercial. This may sound elitist either to the creator or to his audience, but why not just be ourselves? Maybe not everyone is for everything.
      He has proven that he is very creative and intellectual. However i love the bad eyed and loveless.
      My opinion (friendly).

    Sounds like Ian is not terribly happy with the record company and the way they released the album. But then he says he allowed them to make the decisions and right afterwards says that we did this and we did that. I don't quite understand releasing one or two cuts and teasing everyone instead of just dropping the album. Then of course there are those collector packages with every dead medium except 8-track which commenters joked about in the last interview video. At our advanced ages we hardly need to hype up an album from Ian Anderson and Jethro tull. Just give it to us already!

    • @JimmyFucker
      @JimmyFucker 2 роки тому

      This is the actual standards of marketing when releasing an album, which its not a problem. Ian spent his last 20 years releasing music by his own terms and his own way and then he has to follow the rules of the big streaming/social media era.

    A couple things about your previous work that you don't need to predict or think about.
    The solos in the songs, sometimes one, sometimes two, but always something unique and interesting breaking away in the songs ... there is hardly any of that here, or in Homo Erraticus. Have you run out of ideas and are blaming it on the fans that you don't know how to please when you have pleased them fairly well for 50 years?
    Then, there is the tone, quality, texture, harmonies and counterpoint, and again, very little of that here or in Homo Erraticus ... the music has a flat sound to it - as opposed to Thick As A Brick 2, which musically so delightful and pleasant to the ears and rich enough to hear something new in every playing. None of that here ... very, very flat. I hope the other songs are different or better. I used the example of comparing Sad City Sisters to Panama Freighter ... Panama Freighter is like being in a hugely stimulating environment, always listening for something new, trying to predict some unpredictable music with depth and texture, while SCS is like being in a sensory deprivation tank ... it has nothing, I don't think a single solo in it.

    • @NuntiusLegis
      @NuntiusLegis 2 роки тому

      Of course there are solos on the Homo Erraticus album, and there is a great, only too short flute solo in Shoshana. Overall I agree more elaborate instrumental sections would be nice, as in epic tracks like Dark Ages or Farm On The Freeway. - Panama Freighter is always new indeed, it even changed it's title to Panama Firefighter in the official UA-cam release. ;-)

      Yes, very few and brief solos on HE. The same overused theme/progression through musically on HE.
      Yes, there is an instrumental section on *Shoshana* *Sleeping* , but I did not say they were lacking completely. What if your fucking problems to go around and try to correct everyone's opinion unless they agree with you? You said yourself the flute on *Shoshana* *Sleeping* is too short. These songs are released underdeveloped and it is not what I expect or appreciate from a Jethro Tull album - twice in a row now.

    • @NuntiusLegis

      @@justgivemethetruth Stop being silly, I can't correct people who agree with me. - You said there were hardly any interesting solos because IA would be "running out of ideas", when only three songs have been released yet, two being nice and one great, and one having an interesting solo that is just a bit short.
      You expect me to not correct that? IA is my favorite composer and arranger, so I want to see him releasing new music as much as possible as long as he stays active. By not correcting people trying to discourage IA from making new music, I would cut into my flesh.

      That is your opinion, it is not fact. Don't use it to try to prove a non-existent point. The fact is what I mentioned, 3 out of 3 songs are flat, thin, and the one decent instrumental is very brief and needs the Jethro Tull / Ian Anderson development. So ... why is it missing. I'm sorry, but I've reach my limit on your BS. Do not impute your own projected motives onto people you do not know and have no reason or right to judge or think you've figured out. That is making the discussion personal - and wrecking it when you are so far off. Really an a-hole move to create a straw man of your own dishonest devising and attacking it. Control freak????....I think you are an artist with a vision but are surrounded by controllers who might interfere with your creative goals. The word of the artist has, for centuries, been dismissed while those with the money throw their weight around, many times promoting their shallow perceptions. And when the artist protests, he is accused of being the difficult one.
