I love that they shipped with with Windows 11 2009 so you can easily create a local account. The people that build these things clearly care about the little details. I'm very impressed.

@@harryshuman9637 Yea there's something wonky going on there that version ID I don't understand, but I know some of the earliest builds of Windows 11 let you skip account creation by disconnecting your internet, so I'm just assuming it's an older build. Edit: I see now that's Windows 11 Pro and not Home. Ignore my stupidity.

@4:44 Keeping SSDs under 70C is really important if you want to have reliable data retention. If you've had an SSD die prematurely, it was almost certainly either a firmware bug, or it was operating over temp. Very rarely is it actually worn out from write volume/amplification. Another thing that may surprise some users - some SSDs give off a fair amount of RFI and if you don't have them in a metal case they can seriously reduce the range of your bluetooth devices, and even 2.4gHz wireless mice... I used an external AData QLC 960GB SSD for a couple years with no enclosure and it seriously impaired range of my RK71 keyboard and MX Master mouse. Both struggled at more than 2.7m / 9' from the adapters until I put the SSD into a metal case. Another solution was to plug the SSD into a USB 2.0 port. That puts the SSD into a lower power mode, which generates less RFI.
I'm intrigued, isn't that SSD already in its own metal case? Or are you placing it in another enclosure?

@@Phambleton Nope, it was sitting bare on top of my WD Elements USB3 external HDD, attached to a SATA2USB adapter, plugged into a powered thunderbolt dock, which in turn is plugged into my laptop's Thunderbolt/PD port, and all that sits behind my TV on my electric fireplace mantle, where the HDD was the greatest source of heat in its nearby environment. And the metal enclosure? Tinfoil, sprayed with black latex paint.

I bought The AMD one the GTR6 6900HX and it also just arrived. Running Arch on it with 4 4K displays runs like a charm. One display to Work, one to stream media, one for real time prices and one for some low tier gaming. All in sight from my couch in my man cave.
Beelink has been around for a while now and from what I have seen thay make amazing small PC's like this one. Please review more of them. I used to sell a few as Android boxex but they were more on the high end and higher priced for that category.

Love the Beelink PCs, I found out about them after the company I worked for picked up a few to install in a client's site as conference room PCs. I grabbed the 5600H version with 16gb of ram from Amazon for $400 flat in December, and swapped it with my intel 6500 optiplex home server.
I'm currently only running a few VMs for a steam lancache, etc, but I'm pretty confident I'm not going to have to replace this thing any time soon.

Never used a Beelink mini PC but I have had several android tv boxes off them and they've been very reliable resulting in minimal complaints for the family members using them. They're the only boxes I have received firmware updates for which was a nice surprise.
Beelink relies on quality to provide valuable goods to customers.
I've had mixed experience with Beelink computers. Used to use some of them back in 2018-2020 as mini PCs for restaurants and bars. Rare occasion they would be the Point of Sale, but usually they were used for menu boards. They would have a 10%+ failure rate within a year. That said, they were WAY better than the similar AcePCs that we were also getting. Multiple series of AcePCs would just shut off if you pushed them hard.
That said, the menu board software we were using was pretty "heavy" running in a cutdown Chrome browser and requiring Windows to run the background service. Any of those would have done much better with a lightweight Linux on them. *sigh*. I don't work for that company anymore so I can't push them in the right direction now.
I absolutely love these new mini pcs. The fact I don’t need a huge hunk of metal and silicon on or beneath my desk to have decent performance is amazing. And the price is fantastic as well not having to pay for all the extra stuff save quite a bit. The one gripe I have with small factor pcs is with the aftermarket potential of them. Specifically the trick of buying an old optiplex and chucking a gpu in there. This was the route I went to get my first semi capable machine. It’s not really an issue but would be cool to see them implemented with usb4 as to allow eGPUs
Even though I'm not the audience for mini-PCs (I personally love large machines with lots of excessive cooling) I can see why the combination of upgradeable memory/storage, the adequate port selection, and the small size/cost, are all appealing to people.
I agree though that processor/GPU expansion lacking on even mini-PCs is very unfortunate, especially when the 4+8 core configuration on these alder lake CPUs will likely far surpass the integrated GPU in terms of usability. I have a few ideas on how they could alleviate this concern, some more likely than others.
The first is to bring back socketed laptop GPUs in an MXM or similar form factor, since PCIe cards seem too large for this type of chassis unless you step it up to an Asrock DeskMeet or similar. Potentially Intel could implement this with their new Arc GPUs, and if OEM-only RX 6600 MXM GPUs are any indication, that would more easily allow cross-vendor GPU compatibility.
Another less likely idea is to make the processor and integrated graphics use a socket rather than solder them onto the motherboard and make upgrades impossible. This has the potential benefit of reduced size and enabling more upgrades in the laptop market, but it also removes separate CPU and GPU upgrades, and considering it's unfortunately been many years since socketed laptop processors have been made, I wouldn't bet as much on that as a socketed laptop GPU.
Of course they could implement an eGPU solution, but the size and bandwidth limitations could be potential drawbacks. Although the inter-operability between an eGPU and desktop GPUs could be of benefit for some users.
@@jamesbuckwas6575 I love the idea of a socketed gpu and socketed components in general, upgradability and reliability are huge benefits of that approach.
However I can’t see the industry going in that direction. We’ve had to fight to keep socketed ram as it is and don’t get me started on headphone jacks.
That’s why I went the route of usb4, It’s expandability that doesn’t require a huge board connector. Potentially we might see more bandwidth in future iterations of usb or, however unlikely, the possibility of using multiple ports for a single device (though I dread to think about the complexity and security concerns of that approach).
I recently had a run in with the in-expandability of mini pcs. I was wanting one to use as a router, needed to be small as ISP box is in my closet, however few have the extra LAN port required. Had to buy one new that for the same price I could have gotten something second hand and far more powerful, not to mention keeping it out of landfill.
I do realise I could have used a usb Ethernet adapter but I’ve heard some things about usb3 being flakey after prolonged use.

Beelink has without question been my go-to for mini pcs since 2017. The performance, reliability and value for money in this tiny black box makes these machines a no brainer recommendation to family, friends, and small businesses. Whether it's Beelink or another manufacturer, I believe this awesome form factor is here to stay.
This thing gets super hot. This isn't just a performance issue, but what's often overlooked is the effect on the SSD.
Your SSD shouldn't be running hot at all, unless you want to reduce its life span by a factor 10 and lose data.
SSD cooling is essential, and that's where all of these tiny boxes fall short.
Of course, you can still add an external SSD, and that's the first thing I would do after buying a mini pc.

Thanks for this video, I was looking at these yesterday to replace my aging desktop, and to do some light 1080p gaming, while saving some power doing normal daily task on Solus Linux with 2 1080p 75hz monitors, but I think I'll go with one of the AMD Ryzen versions, but not sure which one as I want to spend no more than $650 USD.
I think L1 reviewed the Minisforum UM690. It can be had for $500 barebones, or $650 with 16GB RAM/512GB M.2 SSD. Nice little box too!

These tiny form factor PCs imo, are the future of home / study pc setups due to the compactness of the pc and basically creating an AIO pc / monitor with vg processing performance for many daily tasks 🥰🥳💪😇

Thank you for mentioning you could get Linux installed on this machine, even though the mention was only for about 18 seconds. Wish you could have discussed it more fully. Did you have any trouble getting WiFi card and audio output working under PopOS? What kernel version was the PopOS?
The author skipped over the NVMe drive (the biggest improvement in PC hardware in the last 30+ years). The solid-state NVMe drive is the biggest thing since the advent of Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) of ~30 years ago.

its a perfect proxmox box to run intel quicksync for plex
the fact that is has thunderbolt 4 and 2.5gbe puts it miles ahead of the SEI12 mini.
you can install a sonnet dual 25gbe via thunderbolt if you wanted to (one dedicated to ceph maybe?)
We have a number of offices with minimal space for a computer to sit, so we started trying these. So far so good. Sometimes they get a little quirky with the Windows 11 power save features and stuff, but for the most part they just do what they need to do with minimal noise or issue.

This is a well build machine both software and hardware.
Optane doesnt need RST to still work great, it even works great with AMD.
The H20 is optane plus nand. Do need rst as primocache doesn't work as well with the H20 configs as say a dedicated optane device
I dont know if this is true but I wanted to point out that the Amazon listing description says that its supports up to a 2 TB SATA SSD so it might not work with a 4 TB as suggested in this video.
I bought two 10th gen Beelinks a while ago. They lasted three months. No power, no post. Never again.

Any bargain bin walmart Gateway Celeron N4020 or Pentium Silver N5030 can make a good little PC. At 6 watts, they don't get hot, and as notebooks are small enough to just put under your 4K monitor... all for $69 - $129 bucks. Fanless, silent, and able to take a 512GB microSDXC card too. Hook up a USB 3 bluray disk drive and watch all your favorite DVDs / BluRay discs too...
Definitely would want to format that ssd and put Linux mint or Ubuntu on it. Nice little guy though.

NO! Beelink is the WORST! I bought an android box from them. Almost 25 emails and NO reply to any of my questions. Spend it on a ox of tractor paper. You'll get better support and it will be useful to write on while Beelink's computer has blown itself out.
