I am leaving a comment, because I loved the video! I also hopefully will receive my XT50 I Pre Ordered and will watch your incoming videos!
Thank you!!
Hello from Denver, Colorado Pete we had a vintage camera show yesterday that I attended and there was a pretty neat Fujica 35 mm camera. Looks like somebody had bought it for a photo class in 1989 and put it in a box for the next 35 years,
what was interesting was that it had a number of different weird little features in the dials and you had to actually look at it a little bit to figure out where things such as the self timer and other functions where they would nest some of the dials within each other. It was kind of funny. It made me laugh because I was like oh even back in 1989. Fuji was trying to figure out different ways to make the controls.
Haha that is funny. They have always been a quirky company!
Thank God you went BW on the girl with the umbrella…The red was driving me crazy….lol…
i was initially worried about the price, but £1300 was what i originally expected, i was a little worried. I had been worried 😮they would just swap $ for £, but no. Sold my xt30 qnd preordered an xt50... why .. ibis mostly. Didn't go for the 16-50 as i already have the Sigma 18-50mm, tamron 17-70mm, and the xf18-135mm.
Yep IBIS is a great reason for the upgrade. You will love the new sensor too.
@PeteCocoPhoto I have admit I already have an xt5 😬 so you are right... I will use my xt50 as daily carry with the sigma or small primes, I use the xt5 for wildlife with my 70-300mm or 100-400mm, or concerts with my 50-140mm or viltrox 75mm f1.2. I have really bad gas 🙄
First one! ;-) Keep going Pete!!! I am a subscriber since a long time ago! 👋
Ernesto! Thank you so much my man!! Appreciate the continued support!
Hi Peter, excellent work as always! I'm one of those who think that the new button is simply useless, but the camera itself appears to be cool 🤗
Thanks!
Loved the Pete and Omar picture. I thought your studio was in NYC.
Thanks! My studio is just outside of the city.
Good content Peter! Try any of the GFX100’s with a GF 110, it will impress you with image rendering and quick, accurate focus.
So I have heard. I tried the original 100 and the AF was pretty solid.
I like your honesty and the GFX 100 mark two because from what I’ve seen so far you’re the only one that mentioned that the auto focus is still lacking behind Canon system for instance. I’m really very interested in that camera but that was also my biggest concern and it has to be well considered before you buy such an expensive system. I’m now with Canon and understand what you mean because the auto focus is really outstanding and much better than Sony for instance what are used before but changed due to the very poor auto af focus in comparison to Canon.
Thanks. One thing to remember is that the medium format cameras are always going to be slower in regards to AF and performance, at least for now. For me, it's still a studio camera that you take your time with. It's interesting to me that Fuji is marketing the new ones as sort of action/sports cameras.
Thanks for your overview. Lots of strong opinions out there about the XT-50. As for the GFX, it's way out of budget for me. Have a great week!
Thanks for watching as always Charlie!
Wish I got to see you at the event! There's always next time!
Sorry I missed you, Ben!
Great street photos Pete!
Thank you!
Hey Pete, I love that GFX eye photo. Keep it up, and subscribers will come. I love your how to videos, so doing more of them will help add more subs.
Thank you! I really appreciate it and will continue to do tutorials.
Yes, B&W is the better image. Thanks for the video. Im a new sub.
Thank you!!! 🙏🙏🙏
+1. Black and white was much better.
Im blast away by Your growth and actual production quality Pete. Yet another amazing video! Im sad that this new/replaced dial can't change custom film simulation settings. Only change base Film Sim.
Thanks, Jakub! I appreciate you so much my man! Yeah I think they just need to figure out a design and stick to it haha
Hello from Los Angeles.
So I’m not a GFX shooter, but I’m exited for GFX shooters with the 100S2 and the 500mm lens. I know some people who would absolutely be interested in this setup.
As an XT5 shooter, I’ll take a hard pass on the XT50. I’m mainly using 3 or 4 film sims, BUT I usually shoot RAW and add the sim after. That and my favorite sim would have to be programmed in, since it’s not in the menu out of the box. I’m good with my current gear.
I do the same thing - raw and then usually apply the sim and adjust from there.
Good first impressions video Pete. I’m not interested in the X-T50, my X-T4 is doing just fine, but the lens is another story. I’m more than happy with the performance of my copy of the XF16-80, but I’m seriously considering the XF16-50 for its compactness and especially the internal zooming mechanism. Yes I understand about the extra 30mm, but I find that in most situations I can take a couple of steps forward to make up for the difference. Having said all that, I’m not thinking about replacing the XF16-80, that lens is definitely a keeper, but a new toy is always fun. Be well and stay safe.
I think you will love it. It seems like a winner to me!
@0.30 you need more oboe on this channel, clearly.
HAHAHA! I know right? Who doesn't love a good oboe concerto?
Thanks, Pete, for your quick overview. Did you get a Fuji film sim T-shirt at the NY event?
I did! It's pretty cool.
Hello, Nice vid, I don't know much about Fuji cameras, (But heard good things) . The b&w pic looked nicer.
Never been to B&H in person but, I have bought from them online (love their commercials).
Thanks for posting - G_rocks_ productions
Thanks! Appreciate it!
Thanks Pete. Do you think for landscape type work that the new 16-50 will perform better on 40mp at f8 than the aging fuji 16-55 2.8?
That is what they are saying. It's optimized for the new sensor.
Torn between Xt5 and Xt50 as my first Fuji. I have a Canon R6 Mii that I’m keeping, but trading in my R8 for a Fuji. Use my R6 Mii for mostly sports and getting a Fuji for street, portraits and just daily use. I don’t travel a ton but would use it for travel too. Will you please do a comparison between the XT5 and Xt50? What would you suggest for me? I’m so torn! Ugh.
XT5 would be my choice
Fujifilms crappy AF algorithm gets much more important for the GFX 100s II, as the margin of error is much narrower on a MF camera. This holds me back from switching to the GFX system or adding it (XH2/XH2s user).
Most of the GF lenses have (noisy and) very slow AF. An annoying bottleneck when using a much faster camera. Fujifilm needs too many years to update these lenses.
I have shot with a few different GFX cams in my studio and the slower AF is a compromise for sure but for portraits the benefits are really amazing. I love to shoot wide open so this makes it more challenging too!
This event really seems poorly planned. Seems like there wasn't much opportunity to get good pictures.
At least that's what I feel, looking at those pictures.
Ouch. That's more my pictures than the event LOL. The event was great and ran very smoothly.
But if you'd like to share some of our pictures to show us how it's done that would also be helpful. 😉
The new dial is absolutely pointless and stupid, TBH. It's basically the same dial on XS10 and XS20 to change film simulations and nothing else while we can set a lot of different functions for the ones on XS10 and XS20. What a weird idea from Fujifilm.
More than the dial itself, the fact that they change the design with every single camera is what frustrates me more lol
