Playing with the Rotary Tiller

To put in a new wildflower patch in the upper yard, I finally hooked up the PTO-driven 3 point rotary tiller.

Just an observation looks like you need a little more rear cant - try to keep the top deck of the tiller parallel with the ground by adjusting your toplink. Looks like it worked a treat! Tillers are fun.

That is a bit different than your day job - LOL. It was surprisingly enjoyable to watch. I may need to rent one to till up my back yard; although, it is mostly covered with Buckthorn roots.

Problem I have right now is I don’t have a landscape rake. It tore up too large a plot for me to rake manually and all that grass it shredded is coming back through. Next time I do something like this I will at least box blade it first to get most of the vegetation cleared before tilling.

Yeah. I found out too late how thirsty those are for the first year. More water may have saved them from the start.

Possible solution to tines hitting back lid...shorten the chain to the point where the lid doesn't drop down to the tines when lifted. Looks like the tiller and tractor and operator combo do a great job. Thanks for sharing.

Just a tip when u ingage the pto, u should have the tractor at a low idol. When u have it, a high idol u can cause damage to the tractor or rotortiller cheers

Thanks for the tip. I can see how jerking the gears like that could cause problems. I’m learning as I go!
