My name is Allan Hotlen. I wrote the lyrics to "Let Me Into Your Life." (The brilliant Peter DeAngelis wrote the music.) I was thrilled when Engelbert recorded it (in 1968!?!) and thrilled when he sang it twice on worldwide television. But seeing THIS video . . . posted on UA-cam . . . was even more gratifying. Engelbert still hasn't gotten the words quite right (in the chorus.) But I'm so grateful that he's still singing "my" song so beautifully. Thank you, Engelbert.
So often, Allan, people do not seem to realize someone took time & effort to write the music & write the lyrics... they only seem enthralled by the arrangement & captivated by it all thru the singer, his voice, his looks & manner. Truly you guys do not get enough acknowledgement & recognition from the recording artists nor the audiance. Arnold "@Engelbert Humperdinck" Dorsey, the more years progress, the more humble he is & rarely fails to acknowledge the contributing artists for their works. I thank you too; I loved the lyrics! It is indeed a huge compliment just knowing as you've noted, that one's work/art is chosen to be sung by a professional, even when the words are deliberately or mistakenly changed slightly, even some added for improvement, like a 'bridge' that is needed.
I have been singing this since 1968, what a terrific song and congrats for getting Enge to record it! This truly is a very rare live performance recording of this.

It was nice to finally found the writer of the romantic lyric of this song. I am from Indonesia and I have been loving this song since I was a child. I often wonder how could the lyric, the music and the voice were blended such beautifully. When I was a teenager, I often imagined that someone would say the same words to me. I saw Engelbert singing this song on his Legacy Tour in Singapore two years ago when I was there just for him. What a surprise! This is my best favorite song.

I won't bore you with the story of what inspired me to write the lyrics to "Let Me Into Your Life," except to say that it was an expression n (albeit a more intense and dramatic one) of something going on in my life. Peter DeAngelis, who was a brilliant composer and arranger came up with the melody almost instantly after I told him I thought there was a song in the title "Let Me Into Your Life." The song took us very little time to write -some songs take days and weeks and even longer to write), so - again - it's almost unimaginable to me that Pete's and my song brings pleasure to people all over the world . . . people like you, whom I've never met . . . so many years after we wrote it. To your health, Inge! Sorry I hadn't acknowledged your letting me know about that long-ago (5-years) Engelbert concert you were going to. Somehow, i hadn't seen your post till today

I wish I could find a way to let you know just how magical and almost mystical it is to help create something and learn that people you’ve never met appreciate it.
