Scott is a very smart man. The price of parts to restore those old Camero’s is through the roof, they are definitely going to be lucky to come out even or slightly over on this one.
I give much credit to people who stand on their convictions....especially when the those who are wrong try to convince you, your wrong or "just roll with it"
There's better ways to handle things. He literally walked away from the team over $600 / his cut of a "Possible" loss. In all reality, Scott didn't want to work. I know many guys just like him, with his same attitude

3k was the top end! Unless this is a special edition of some kind. Parts are available but between parts and labor even concours at Barrett aren’t going to make enough to cover those costs
Price of $6k seems high but still within money making budget. Done right that car can fetch around $35-$40 on the low end. There were only 25k of those cars made and now a fraction left. Material is going to run $10-$15k. They have the potential to make $20k on that car since they do all the labor.
So their labor is free? Shop time for bodywork is like 150$ an hour. How many hours of work do you think that's gonna take? How about the money to keep the power on and the rent for the building? You think all in they'll only have 16k-21k into that build? Did you also forget all the mechanical work needed like the engine and transmission work? Running all new brake lines, fuel lines, steering and suspension rebuild? They'll never make 20k on a car that far gone.
@@number3665 it seems you never built a car or not from where they are located in Texas. There’s very little body work because buying panels. There’s no roof just a replacement top. The sale price can be up to $50k-$55k They are partners in a business so one car is not the only source of income. ROI of 100% is great when you in partnership and not paying a lot of salaries.
Love how every negative comment is coming from people who have no clue about cars. But all have the same attitude as Scott…. Don’t want to work to make money and want to take the easy way out. Those people will never make it and will always be the people who live and mooch off everyone
That’s a $500 car max I wouldn’t have offered 3K much less even remotely entertained 10K some people just smoke the craziest stuff you could ever possibly imagine.🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
I agree with Scott on this actually...that car isnt worth 6k and Thomas chose to buy it and Scott thought it was a bad idea, which is was!! Car is so friggin rusty and absolutely nothing on that car was salvageable! You can get a better car for a little more money which is huge, better car is less body work, which equals less time, time is money!! Plus better car is safer and that Camaro was in a field for longer than 10 years sitting in the elements with no top!! Scott was a 1000% correct..the better the car, the quicker the flip, and on to next project!! These guys are doing 1 car at a time..they need to be able to fix, restore and flip quickly so they all earn a living and when Thomas said sometimes you will work for free that is ridiculous!! Why work for free and waste precious time for no profit or benefit!!
Well, Scott isn't into preserving history for the future. He is only into duck taping things together adding newspaper in the holes and bondo over the top., then a quick sanding and a shot of paint, then expecting it to be sold by someone else, to line his pocket.
I think MY heart skipped a beat when the dude countered with 10 grand...... But then I said to myself okay, yes this IS a '67 Camaro..... I'm only a minute:18 into this video 🫣 lol
That’s a project car for a guy that does it himself for him… not for a shop to resale. 6k for the car there’s at lease 25k of bodywork. Rebuilding the top is 6k. That’s 31k no engine and paint yet. That’s a 40k car it’s not a Yenko or a SS… that’s 50k to build for a 40k car plus all the headaches… in 4 days. I would have walk out also if that’s the decision making in that shop.
You have the most sense of any comment I’ve read here. On top of all that it’s a ragtop. The hardest of all performance cars to sell. Nobody wants convertibles.
That old guy needs to put the gummies down. 10,000 dollars for a car that looks like that is absolutely ridiculous. Even 6,000 dollars was far to much. Scott has every right to bail if there's no money in a project like that Camaro.
What a fake show! They buy a topless convertible that"s been sitting in a field in the weather for who knows how long. They buy the car, never put it in the air to check the frame rot, inner fenders, trunk, fender walls, suspension, nothing! Total BS!
The car is a money pit in 3 ways 1 straight build loss..2 loss on potential for capital tied up in it just buy something else..3 the wear tear on the men to build this car you only have so many in you then what money do you have to retire on
He must’ve been talking to the lowball Richard to used car salesman at overworks and underpaid people. They said that their sell, but yeah people like that come rich and famous for I better garage anytime in my book monkey garage was Richard’s garage that daddy gave him.
The guy kind of has a point, a 67 Camaro convertible is a pretty common car and with all the work that rust bucket needs they would have been better off buying a brand new body which is readily available
You’re only into the business for $ and not the love of cars first? You can’t resurrect for free but to break even after bills and people are paid is worth it once a year to save one classic.
From a business sense Scot might be right on this one.
Miss this show 👍

That convertible is not worth $3000!
I agree I wouldn't give a 1000.00$ fir it
Agreed
And you wouldn't walk away with it
😂 $scrap value is $220
That's about what it was worth depending on what engine and transmission it had
Most convertibles I have seen in fields and junkyards, are rust buckets. Especially the floor pans are gone! Sheet metal work involves a lot of time!
You over paid at 3
Agreed
$3 is over paid.
He thought leaving the first time would make them quit the car 😂jokes on him
Scott just wants easy money and doesn't want to work for it
Rust becomes safely issues, this is a parts car
Ever tried it yourself?
@@Gregoman89 have u
@@dxarmyjoe1 sure have. It was my dads hobby. Spent nearly 2 years on one… part time anyway

These guys split the profits. What Scott meant was it was gonna take so much time and money there wasn't gonna be any profit.
its all part of the show, dont let them fool you
People are so greedy over old cars these days. 🤦

That car will be worth $60,000 after you put $100,000 into it.
Dude wanted 10k💀💀💀💀

Well, Scott isn't into preserving history for the future. He is only into duck taping things together adding newspaper in the holes and bondo over the top., then a quick sanding and a shot of paint, then expecting it to be sold by someone else, to line his pocket.
That car will get sold to Hollywood then crashed for movies. Or whistlingdiesel will get a hold of it 😂🤣😂🤣
That's a $200 parts car with no parts left on it... Wth is wrong with these people?
Fake shows like this drove up the cost on classics and caused people to over value them.
If you payed 3000 you paid to much, the minute you get under that junk and it is junk, you will be changing everything watch
The ragtop had nothin to do with it. He was quitting on the ride in to work that morning.

Dang. Just go to maple motors in Tennessee.
Yeah, and for 40 to 60k they'll sell you one in basically the same condition but hiding under a fresh paint job and undercoat. 😮

It's a rust bucket P O S
Looks like $900 to me $1000 with tow
More like 4 yrs ago
I would have started at 500 bucks
Scott made the right choice. As a mechanic and fabricator, the Camaro is junk... just plain junk and I wouldn't have taken on this project either
It's a shitoley. Wasn't worth 50 cents when it was in the show room in 1967.

ok there are plenty of spares

I'd want nothing to do with that junker either! 🙄🙄🙄
Buy a new Dynacorn body and be done with it.
