Grindavik Drone Tour - New Fracture Found By The lava Wall

  • I did this Grindavik drone tour yesterday, June 2 in order to capture the north and east part of the lava walls but it was a rough flyover due to wind, but turned out okay though and this is just a sample but a longer version awaits better time. I did another flyover today and filmed the craters close up and the complete lava field. Again in heavy wind, and snow soon after I left the place. Notice the fracture when the video starts! I'm very satisfied with the filming results from eruption number 8, but the footage deserves more then just a fast edit and a voiceover on the go, and I have already a good travel story round all this so this is more and less a sample to keep you posted and the full story deserves more than work on the go, like I'm now.
I had no time to get creative and used the same music as I used in a similar video I this the other day, but I know you forgive me this time, hit fits okay.
And this is more from the west part from a recent video: • One Of The Most Unique...
The eruption is powering down little by little, but I think it's going to live on for a while though. The Blue Lagoon has already opened, but it's impossible to go near it to see the volcano unless you have a ticket. it will be a part of my travel story how I managed to get there.

You are the first to provide a close up shot of the greenhouse, and I see why they had to abandon it. Such a huge crack running straight through its floor, and no more access to it anyways.
Thank you again for stunning footage. The music is perfect.

Same here. I wonder how long this volcano/complex will be having eruptions that affect the town. It's transformed the surrounding area and town.
I also hope the government is working hard to help the residents and to improve the housing situation.

This is the first time I have seen a close up of the Greenhouse (ORF Genetics) since this all began back in the fall. (I could have missed a video or more tbh). Sad to see it so abandoned and now inaccessible. This has to be a loss for many people involved, including owners, employees and other businesses/clients, etc. It is not talked about much at all, in any news reports or in general information on any live stream channels. And it is a miracle it hasn't been covered by lava yet too! Thanks for another wonderful video, Gylfi

Thanks again for such incredibly beautiful video that shows the extent of the latest eruptions around Grindavik. Have been SO hoping that the latest eruption's flows would be channeled into lower topography - i.e., outside the previous flows and the protective walls constructed around the town - to be diverted out into the ocean, to produce a giant U-shaped harbour to actually benefit the people and fishing folk of Grindavik. But, I expect we'll have to just wait. But I'll keep coming back - your videos, though sometimes tragic, are always beautiful reminders of the pathos that's being visited upon the wonderful people of Iceland. Take care, and stay safe, and know that even though few of us may comment, there are undoubtedly THOUSANDS who appreciate your updates and videography.

You see ancient lava flows in lots of places (West coast USA for me). Most have a main mountain, but lots of little cones in various sizes spread all over. This is a great example of what they looked like when being formed. That active cone on this one will eventually be just another cold cone covered in grass & rocks.

Thanks for the excellent tour, especially the close up of the greenhouse.
I had heard it was damaged but I hadn't realised how badly. That fissure went right through it.

One guest at the Blue Lagoon a few months ago said as he was evacuating the heat of the eruption could be felt inside the rental car he was driving.

Of course they would abandon it, with all the volcanic gas floating around I doubt it could be used to grow anything.

@saywhat8966 lol....I doubt it, he was in his car and pretty far from the eruption.

Pretty sure the greenhouse got abandoned really early in the process - like after the first lava run last year, due to earthquake damage? It was always lit up and highly visible on the webcams, but I remember people commenting that it was already empty.

@@halpen It was used by the guys doing the wall construction.

From up there, the walls look pretty small - until you see the diggers dwarfed by them. So far, the defences are holding, and I hope it stays this way. Good luck to you all in Iceland!
