I’d never heard of five pin bowling before! I’m in Washington state and all I’ve ever seen is 10 pin. I really enjoy watching you guys, reminds me of when my little sister and I get together ❤️
I'm in New York State and we have 10 pin bowling. Never had a spider in my bowling ball! I love when you were trying to remember about being on a league. My sister and I will remember different things and sometimes it's hard to convince the other that it really happened! (We are in our 60's, so memories can definitely vary! lol) So funny!! An Autumn League is on my list of things to knit! I have the yarn...not have to get on it! Love your podcast!
Omg I was on a bowling league too! I loved it. We went to the Maryland state championships. I bowled duckpin, 10 pin, and you have smaller balls and 3 tries. (I never heard it called 5 pin). There is also candlestick bowling, more in NE USA. It's like duckpin with smaller balls but the 'pins' are tall cylinders like a tall candlestick
Bowling with only 5 pins??? I have never heard of that. We only have 10 pin bowling in the US that i know of... that is what we call bowling. Learning knew things with each podcast. lol.... also I love knitting secret reveals. It is the best. Jamie was so surprised. Great episode ladies.
I used to love bowling! I used to bowl Tuesday morning ladies league, Thursday night with my husband and Saturday night colorrama fun bowling for money. I was in one tournament that my friend talked me into and bowled a 227. I also knit like Katie...love it! great minds think alike.
I'm in the UK and didn't even know that 5 pin bowling was a thing! I've only ever played or heard of 10 pin bowling. I used to play with my friends when I was a kid, we would walk 1.5hrs just to get to the alley in the summer if our parents were working. I used to love it, must take my little bowling soon! Sarah's joint problems sound a lot like mine, I have hypermobility which causes my joints to fatigue quickly and get sore for days, my knee has a habit of dislocating too.
I’m in Illinois, from Ohio. I have only ever 10 pin bowled, I’ve never even heard of 5 pin bowling. My mom was in a bowling league and had her own ball and special bag to carry it in. No spiders in the holes in all my times bowling 😂.
I was in a bowling league too. I live in Maryland and we have Duckpin. Duckpin bowling is an east coast thing. My kids growing up also bowled in a youth league and went to Nationals!!
Oh my word! My parents were on a bowling league (and me and my sis too). We would go every week, but then my dad was in a skydiving accident that shattered both his ankles. After a long healing journey, they went back to bowl with their league and he went to bowl his turn and fell over! His old form was impossible with, now, metal ankles. He had to relearn how to bowl that night. :)
I came from Kansas where we only had 10 pin, large ball bowling, and here in Maine, that is hardly heard of and instead it is “candle pin” bowling with 10 pins and the little balls.
I live in Maine and our bowling alleys are mostly Candle Pin bowling (10 skinny pins and small balls). I went 10 pin bowling in another state for the first time in my 20's and I call it idiot bowling because the balls and pins were so big its easier to get strikes and spares.
Hi ladies! I am in Illinios & never heard of 5 pin bowling nor have I had a spider crawl out of the finger holes! 😅 I think it would be fun to try 5 pin.
My husband and I used to be in a bowling league here in Ohio(10 pin). He is good and I'm almost average😊 No spiders in the finger holes! One night he bowled a 300 which is a perfect game...and won $300!!
Bowling for a charity work event. All appetizers provided by the company. After not wanting to bowl and being informed that I had to, then watching colleagues lick their fingers, then put them into a ball I got so grossed out that I bowled 10 straight gutter balls because I couldn’t put my fingers into one of them bowling balls. Plus I used an entire container of hand sanitizer. This was all pre-Covid.😮
I live in midwest US. We have 10pin bowling here and no other. I lived in Baltimore for a time (east coast) and it was my first experience with DuckPin bowling. small ball that had no holes so I had massive spin on it - worst I've ever bowled. But it was 15 pins, not 5. Interesting how different it is regionally.
Yes someone did ask Sarah about her Rug.....and it was me!! In Nova Scotia, we did 10 pin with the little balls. I've never tried the big balls with holes before!
In Ontario we have both 5 and 10 pin bowling. My Dad bowled in a 5 pin league when I was younger. I hated 5 pin. I definitely prefer 10 pin. I have never had spiders jump out of the holes 😂
Five pin bowling was ‘invented’ in Canada and I think only played in Canada. I think it’s the only bowling where different pins are worth different points. The pins are also shaped differently than 10 pins or duck pins.
I am allergic to wool you can still knit sweaters in acrylic yarn for your daughter Katie I dk if you knew that but there’s a lot of options for opting out wool
In New Jersey, USA we have 10 pin bowling and if you are fairly serious about your bowling you have your own ball with finger holes drilled specifically for your hand and your own shoes, (so you don’t have to wear skeevy lane shoes that 1000 other people have worn!). And I can’t believe your kids didn’t have knitted mittens till now! 😮
I can’t promise the spiders are not in present day bowling balls, but I never saw a spider in the bowling balls as a teenager. I’m not sure what’s in the shoes. That is scary!
Thanks for the mitten inspiration..I want to try the Lychee Mittens...what do u think of pattern?? Also ..what about some kind of pattern from you all called "everyone needs a Sarah??" Thx for your realness from a fairly newish knitter in Ontario 😁
I’d never heard of five pin bowling before! I’m in Washington state and all I’ve ever seen is 10 pin. I really enjoy watching you guys, reminds me of when my little sister and I get together ❤️
I’m so thankful to spend time “visiting” with you ladies every week during the podcast!
Thank you!!

Love Katie’s Bishop sleeves! Really makes it feel different. ❤

Great Video! I do remember your wink, wink Sarah. I thought you were up to something, LOL. Beautiful colours were chosen for all your knits.
Jamie’s reaction is priceless when she realizes Sarah had cast on the City Limits.
It definitely was priceless ❤🎉
I was in a bowling league too. I live in Maryland and we have Duckpin. Duckpin bowling is an east coast thing. My kids growing up also bowled in a youth league and went to Nationals!!
I’m in Minnesota and have never heard of 5 pin. I have only done 10 pin bowling-but I work a Toque😂

Katie, I love your poker face!! Great podcast ladies!
I came from Kansas where we only had 10 pin, large ball bowling, and here in Maine, that is hardly heard of and instead it is “candle pin” bowling with 10 pins and the little balls.
the only bowling I know is candle pin bowling 😂 (I'm in NS)
I live in Maine and our bowling alleys are mostly Candle Pin bowling (10 skinny pins and small balls). I went 10 pin bowling in another state for the first time in my 20's and I call it idiot bowling because the balls and pins were so big its easier to get strikes and spares.
I have the City Limits pattern and yarn. Now I want to cast mine on too!
I worry about gum being in the bowling ball holes! Or my fingers getting stuck when I roll the ball.
Hi ladies! I am in Illinios & never heard of 5 pin bowling nor have I had a spider crawl out of the finger holes! 😅 I think it would be fun to try 5 pin.
I have the Lion Brand wool for the Autumn League, I'll need to dig it out for the KAL 🙂
My husband and I used to be in a bowling league here in Ohio(10 pin). He is good and I'm almost average😊 No spiders in the finger holes! One night he bowled a 300 which is a perfect game...and won $300!!
I had no idea that there was any other kind of bowling other than 10 pin. That is all we have in Australia.

Boston we have candlepin bowling smaller balls with no holes tall narrow pins
This is what we have in Nova Scotia. I’m guessing it is an east coast thing

Beautiful shawl. You ladies do beautiful work!
I live in the States and have never heard of 5 pin bowling….always 10 pins.
Jamie I am pretty sure the yarn in your brioche shall is Dragon Strings an Ontario dyer.
yesssssss!!!!!! That's exactly what it is... THANK YOU!!!!
Hello ladies!!!

Wassup ya'll
Southern California 10 pin and……….. I suck 👍
I can’t promise the spiders are not in present day bowling balls, but I never saw a spider in the bowling balls as a teenager. I’m not sure what’s in the shoes. That is scary!
South Australia, 10 pin bowling here
Katie-such a pretty yellow project bag, too bad you don’t have a mom that could make you a proper bag😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I suspect "Katie loop" is actually travelling loop.
Duckpin in Baltimore. But I think they do ten pins.
Are you going to Gathering Threads Festival in Edmonton this may?
We aren't able to as it's the same weekend as our knitting retreat in Jasper! Hopefully in the fall!
Thanks for the mitten inspiration..I want to try the Lychee Mittens...what do u think of pattern?? Also ..what about some kind of pattern from you all called "everyone needs a Sarah??" Thx for your realness from a fairly newish knitter in Ontario 😁
I've never heard of Lychee mittens, I'll have to check them out!! We used a Patten called World's Simplest mittens by Tin Can Knits. Great pattern!
I know you have mentioned it but what is the yarn Sarah used for her autumn league?
Lionbrand cotton jeans. ordered from the Lionbrand website, same yarn the designer calls for in the pattern!
I also have the yarn and pattern for a City limits! But what is that « marshmallow » pattern?!? I think I would want that one too!!!
www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/marshmallow-skies-sweater
I’ve never heard of five pin bowling. Is everything the same with less pins?
Smaller balls with no holes and the pins are all worth different amounts!
@@cozyupknits9077 sounds Ike fun.
