      I appreciate the feedback. Good idea, I put that on the list. It's interesting some of the things I don't even think about anymore. I'll need to pay attention to my Squeegeeing for a bit now and see why I use different techniques. A lot of this has just become second nature to me. 😁👍🏻

      I hope the video is helpful. This hood is tough in spots. Those rounded front corners like to have fingers that will keep popping up. Reach out to me on Facebook messenger if you would like. There is a tip or technique I forgot to use in this video that helps with those corners. I could find a picture and draw out the extra tip for you. Facebook facebook.com/EncoreWindowTinting

      ord ranger 2022 hood installation ppf is it complicated or is it simple to install

    • @EncorePPFtint
      @EncorePPFtint  7 місяців тому +1

      I'd say that hood is easier/middle somewhere. A Tesla hood is simple, and a Ford F150-F450 hood is harder. I would definitely use a four corner tack on that install. It shouldn't be that bad at all. Pretty standard, I'd say. I've got a couple of videos of me installing PPF on Ford hoods. Check them out. They have the same type of shape, but the peaks and valleys are much more pronounced. Same idea, though.

      There is another trick that is helpful on the hood that I forgot to use in this video. At 1:40 and 2:50, you can add some tack solution on top of the headlight bezels and sqeegee and hold the ppf on top of the bezel (instead of only the front of the bezel). This will pull the ppf on the corners of the hood straight down. This will eliminate the little fingers you see still on the bottom of those front corners (at 1:40 & 2:50). Let me know if this explains the technique well enough. 😁👍🏻It's a little hard to put into only words.

      I think we're losing some information in the translation. I don't fully understand your question. If the Tack Solution is not tacking quick enough, you might try, only water. Water really makes the film tack quickly. 👍

    How do u not get fingers in the front corners of the hood how to keep them from popping up?

    • @EncorePPFtint
      @EncorePPFtint  Місяць тому

      While it's drying, you can tack the extra PPF hanging off that corner straight down to the fender. That will help keep it in place while it dries. Then, wrap it up under the hood. Once under the hood, you can use the melt method to make sure it stays down in place. I have a video that goes over 6 different ways to wrap PPF corners.

    After watching your challenger video I think I will take you up on tacking with tack solution only when absolutely necessary. What band of film are you using if I may ask?

    • @EncorePPFtint
      @EncorePPFtint  Рік тому

      Do you not use tack solution currently? Or just not use it by itself? Tack solution is a huge help with speeding up an installation.
      We are currently using PremiumShield NexGen. They were purchased by Eastman last year. We are now looking at SunTek (Eastman brand) or Xpel. They both have amazing patterns. We do both bulk and patterns. I need the patterns to be on point and up to my quality standards.
      What brand do you install?

    • @erick77dp7
      @erick77dp7 Рік тому +1

      @@EncorePPFtint I do use tack solution but I tend to overuse it in my opinion which has led to me having disturbances in the film at time when stretching.
      I currently use Legend, I know for a fact that Eastman acquired premium shield back near the end of 2020 so I’m sure the films aren’t too different to Llumar & Suntek. Core even has some of premium shield’s patters in its database. Xpel’s patters are spot on in my experience. I haven’t used a plotting software that comes close to DAP’s accuracy. My only issue with xpel’s film is that their adhesive is pretty aggressive and is more prone to silvering if your dilutions ratios of your slip and tack aren’t dialed in. When I did use Xpel I ended up adding more soap to my slip and using straight deionized water as my tack.

    • @EncorePPFtint
      @EncorePPFtint  Рік тому

      Thanks for that Xpel info. Do you know which one of their PPF's you were using? I know they have a few lines under the Xpel brand.
      I left SolarGard for PremiumShield years ago. It all started when I tried their patterns! SolarGard has very aggressive adhesive, so I'm used to that.
      Have you tried less soap in your slip solution? That might lead to less need for tack solution before stretching. Stretching away from areas that you've used tack in can definitely lead to marks in the adhesive, but you already know that. That's a great observation on your part! We figure this stuff out as we go. 😁

      @@EncorePPFtint I was using Ultimate Plus both their gloss & satin films. Satin was a little more forgiving due to its finish. Their fusion was similar to ultimate plus but film being wet made it annoying to install due to hydrophobic properties causing my hand to slip constantly.
      And god I absolutely hated Solarguard. Especially their patters they are horrendous. Nothing fits everything is either oversized to way too short. Cut outs of emblems or trim were either way off or didn’t fit to begin with. Reason why I switched to legend and digicut afterwards. However I do miss using DAP since digicut’s databank is missing a ton of full cars that Xpel had already made patterns for.

    • @EncorePPFtint
      @EncorePPFtint  Рік тому

      Did you ever try wearing latex gloves with the Fusion PPF? Latex gloves really grab the material!
      You are spot on with your assessment of ComputerCut! Terrible patterns and no consistency from vehicle to vehicle. I felt like their ClearShield Pro PPF was a good quality product and would last a long time. It had a strong top coat on it. I was used to it, but I do know people don't like how aggressive their adhesive is.

      Swan 70%. We buy it at Costco. But I will buy rubbing alcohol from anywhere and any brand if needed. I don't know if there is any difference but I've never felt that there is a difference in how other brand function in my tac solution.
