This was me in the vid. Everyone is saying "r77 over performing" but I really dont think so. It was built as a direct counter for the aamraam. Also I really feel like I could have done better in this matchup as it was my first day in sim battles I really started getting the hang of things in some later fights it really feels doable in the 15c the real threat is those r73s. Anyways - Thanks for a merges Aero that dogfight at the end was a lot of fun!

Iirc the r77 wasn't a counter, but a counterpart it was relatively worse then the 120
In a 1v1 fight it is better to use STT than TWS, because STT gives the missile a more precise information and it is also harder to break. I say that TWS isnt that effective because you already know that will the bandit do and even if you dont receive a launching notification you asume that he has already launch a missile so it is better to give the missile more info that reliying in the surprise factor when there isnt surprise
The only reason I use TWS is to delay his RWR from going off.
@@AeroTurtle that's true, but remember that he is already assuming your launching, so I think in a custom battle like this a STT is better
i agree, unless its a sim battle and there is a chance the bandit doesnt know youre there, there is no reason to keep tws lock instead of stt
@@SHEEPS_123 I still prefer to not give him any information on when I launch. But to each their own.
Both valid points.
But once engagement has started between both adversaries then STT is prioritized over TWS.
TWS can select the wrong target by mistake if you're not paying attention, so it requires more fiddling with the radar, plus it's less accurate.
Use TWS when engaging unaware targets, but once the fight starts then use STT.

chaff didn't get buffed, you gotta understand the radar in a missile is way weaker than in a plane. these are also early ARH FOX3's which are quite worse than your new aim120 or R-77M

The F15C MSIP was fixed, it now has the capacity to have eight Aim-120 AMRAAMS. However, I would recommend a loadout of six AMRAAMS, and two AIM-9M sidewinders on the wings for good measure.
top tier needs some 1v1 or 2v2 mode for SB and RB as permanent events

Grid fins have a lot of drag.
I worked on small ones about the size of my hand and they produced 55 pounds of drag force for each grid fin.
R77 grid fins are much larger than that and produce a ton of drag.
Luckily the Russians removed them in the later models

this is like some the DCS yotube channels i watch. super cool video and fun to watch... ive had exactly 1 game in which bvr worked like this in game lol. all the rest like (100+ games at this point) are just chaos with missiles launched from every angle constantly

is anyone else having the dev server not responding to your mouse or is it literally only me. Ive seen evverybody trying out the dev server, yet when i launch it, it stops responding to my mouse like 1 min in, super annoying since everyones talking abt how fun it is and testitng out the new fox-3's

Yes. From what I could understand it also shows where your missile is going, and where it is.

nah the missiles are going to be extremely prone to going for chaff due to not having a pd radar in them so it acts like if your locking something with the f8 and will pick chaff over the plane most of the time

How do you think the fox 3s would be in sim?
Probably more effective than rb. It's harder for people to notice missiles in sim. Plus TWS will not make RWR go crazy until it's too late. People will likely hug the ground in sim.
Nothing will actually change comparing to how it is right know. People will only have less time to react on launch. But still you will get rwr ringning from 20 km from r77 or 16km from amraam which is still plenty of time to dodge it.
what setup do you use for sim?
is it track ir with a joystick and pedals?

Im conflicted with chaffing right now. I think its alright to have chaff actually work but I think the seekers go for them a little too much right now

it's not so much they buffed chaff, it's the internal radar of the first gen fox3's. if you keep a stt lock, it'll ignore the chaff mostly unless they are notching and chaffing, that's where its most effective, as you can see when you kill the f15, he wasn't notching, and you maintained a lock basically till impact thus the chaff didn't matter. also, if you were to fire these fox 3s from top down and don't maintain a lock, they'll typically miss, even if they aren't hugging the deck. although i haven't tested the mica in that top-down situation.
Also let's not forget that they didn't implement new relative speed for notching, based on distance, like DCS does, it would make it way more resistant to chaff and notching at close range
@@matheusdelimarodrigues4410 this isnt dcs. i cant stand people trying to compare two fundamentally different games. most the early fox 3s were susceptible to notching/chaff after they went pitbull.
@@thekirby53 DCS doesn't have a unified simulation model for radars like War Thunder, and it definitely doesn't simulate chaff or flare. I'm a DCS main, and this is well known in the DCS community.

11:52 You're not tracking him on TWS, you have to slew/gimbal your radar to the left to keep tracking him. When he leaves the scan area he will slowly fade away from your radar screen and it will stop sending updates.
Some radars will do this automatically, the TWS will "lock on" and the radar gimbal will follow them around. But it's usually not on Russian TWS
use the mfd camera , i'm pretty sure it has more zoom than the normal zoom in and its helped me in sim before
