I just do not know why didn't they implement it in the TCG Live. They should make something for everybody but good. Now it seems we will have two apps and most probably both "not perfect" or "under development". Thanks for the video. Keep going!!
Pokemon TCG Live and Pokemon TCG Pocket are essentially created by 2 different companies. Live is created by The Pokemon Company International, a subsidiary of The Pokemon Company. They handle marketing and distribution of Pokemon outside of Japan. They are the reason why our card sets are different from what Japan gets. It’s also the reason why Live isn’t available in Japan, as they’re not allowed to operate in Japan. Pocket is made by The Pokemon Company. They are they parent company who primarily focuses on Japan but they do have veto power over activities done by The Pokemon Company International. These two games are made completely independently of one another. The problem is that as a subsidiary, Live does not have the support or funding from The Pokemon Company. It also doesn’t help that Live is built in such a way that it doesn’t generate any direct revenue for them, as the game is free and doesn’t have any micro transactions in it. This leads to The Pokemon Company International spending as little as possible to maintain the game, which includes using in-house devs to make Live, vs. contracting an experienced third party dev to maintain it. This is why PTCGO died, as Pokemon chose to make a new game in-house for less rather than pay a third party to keep maintaining PTCGO. Meanwhile, The Pokemon Company is the mothership. They have access to all of the resources to make whatever they want. This is why they can hire an experienced mobile developer to make Pocket and distribute it worldwide. This is also why they make a new rule set for Pocket while also building the game to support micro transactions. The Pokemon Company International would not have the autonomy to make such dramatic changes to the Pokemon Trading Card Game’s rules in the same way that The Pokemon Company did for Pocket. These entities don’t talk to each other by design, despite both being part of the same ecosystem. I’m almost certain that Pocket will not falter in the same ways that Live has. It won’t be a buggy mess and it will get a ton of support. However, it will never support the standard Pokemon TCG rule set and it will always be a game built around micro transactions. As for Live, it won’t ever get the same love and care that Pocket does, but it will likely be our only official way to play the Pokemon TCG with the main rule set. And it will probably also be devoid of micro transactions for the foreseeable future.
I kinda like pctgl but with bugs and still beta for almost 2 years it worries me. This one I might try cause for playing PTCGL I need vpn unlike the old ptcgo even it has my native language support. I hope tcg pocket doesn't heavy p2w and support my native language to attract larger player base cause any physical pokemon tcg card was also translated into
I'm basically giving up on Pokemon TCG live with this announcement, I'm a bit of a newbie and the turns in live just take too long, roaring moon churning 40 cards a turn is a bit too much. I'm game for a newer game, live seems really spotty, slow and buggy. This game will probably take over the digital space, and getting in from the jump sounds good.
Play espathra in tcg live. You will laugh at charizard, miraidon, and roaring moon players. Play klefki if you want to stop squakabilly and greninja from giving ur opponent a fast start. But seriously espathra with one energy attachment will OHKO moon.
If you find turns to take too long, then maybe Pocket is a better fit for you. Even if Live was a perfect adaptation of the TCG (which it woefully falls short of), stuff like Roaring Moon ripping through 40 cards on turn 1 is still going to happen. As much as I like the core rule set for the Pokemon TCG, I like the steps that Pocket is taking to make it a better fit for mobile players.
@@InThirdPerson Yeah I just think its a little too uninteractive, I'm a LOR refugee and also played a lot of MTG, knowing you can't do anything on your opponents turn kinda makes you zone out in a digital format, especially when their turns can take 10+ mins of shuffling and searching, its just not for me.
The tcg live was way too battery intensive for my phone and made my laptop overheat which was the reason why I stopped playing. I can see myself jumping to pocket if the battery issues is resolved.
TCG live doesn’t make money and this will make more money and have more players than live ever could. These are two different clients with different partner companies so they can actually make the game look good because they have an incentive. They don’t have to choose between them because one is for competitive and other is completely casual.
@@snubull TO be correct TPC doesn't care, and due to the lack of monetization, TPCi is giving Live a shoestring budget to cut costs (also hurts that TPCi didn't hire competent developers who knew how TCGs worked until late 2022/early 2023).
I like My First Battle a lot and I think it’s a great idea to simplify this one in order to make a game that’s better suited for mobile devices. Thankfully, those that want the full experience can still play Live, even ifs its production quality gets absolutely trounced by Pocket.
I’m ok with this since the ptcgl focuses more on playing the cards than to collect, look at and admire, and trade with others. I hope however that if and when they do put micro transactions it’s not very greedy and the app would be lenient on f2p users. This app is like the pokemon version of Yugioh Duel Links combined with Topps Bunt
DeNA is a fantastic developer -- Pokemon Masters is my all time favourite game right now, and it's made with a lot of love and care and thoughtfulness, and is actually super F2P friendly on top of all that. I encourage anyone reading this comment to give it a try! That being said, I wish they just handed over the reins of PTCGL to DeNA instead of this strange product that is just gonna confuse the consumer base. This is essentially "the Pokemon GO version of the TCG". I have a ton more thoughts but my biggest thing is that ALL the things that Pocket does, could have been implemented in a revamped PTCGL. Every single one. The only logic I see is that they did this because sometimes it's easier to start from scratch than to overhaul an existing thing. I can foresee lots of different things for the future of this game (initial hype then eventual death / EOS like the TFG, becoming a gateway into the main TCG [unlikely imo, because PoGO didn't seem to do that and the cards from Pocket are not transferable to main TCG 🤦♂️], or even having it surpass the main TCG which will mean PTCGL is forever doomed to look aged and broken despite the massively profitable TCG that it represents/simulates, etc.) [Yes I copied my comment from the Community tab to share my thoughts with more people]
I am glad Pocket is being taken care of by a competent developer. I don’t foresee it making the same mistakes as Live. I too am mad that Live didn’t get the same level of care as Pocket. However, I am fine with this existing as a separate game because the cards are different and the rules are different. I think jamming both together would make for a confusing experience, as you essentially have two TCGs in one app. I am fine with one being the accurate card simulator and the other being a mobile-focused remix. However, this move only further highlights how much of a dumpster fire Live is.
But you don't have to buy them lol me myself I'm just going to do the two packs a day but yeah I'm excited I can't wait I just want to know more information about it when's the release date
Lol it can be the most stupendous game of the world, but i love live because it’s not microtransaction friendly, it’s real rule tcg and most important, i don’t have to GRIND like in every crazy card game that exist in all the world.
The different rule set and focus on microtransactions will certainly be a dealbreaker for some, especially those wanting a direct adaptation of the original TCG. I think these games can coexist because they’re ultimately trying to do different things. Live is a simulator of the paper card game while Pocket is a mobile-optimized reimagining of the paper card game.
@@InThirdPerson i can pass through the new rule sistem, it can be different it’s ok. But i would like a “runeterra” microtransaction instead of a “clash royale” one. I mean, give me the dress, the coin, the pack, the cover, and other things, but don’t make me grind for cards like there’s nothing else on my life to do ahahah
Oh they will definitely buy digital cards! Probably by the boatload. Some of them will buy physical cards too. In a world where Pokemon TCG Live doesn’t exist, this news is a slam dunk! With Live around, it’s a bit awkward.
The card moves and stats are completely different between the two games, even when cards use the same art. I wouldn’t hold my breath for any sort of migration option.
Pokemon TCG Live isn’t monetized, which I think is a big part of why Pocket exists now. Those who don’t want to engage in that gatcha style game can always play the standard experience through Live.
I can't start a round on tcg live while working because they're to long, so im pretty hyped to play some tcg poket games during break
So it’s gonna be a system like hearthstone or marvel snap? Energy you gain every turn in increments to play stronger and stronger cards?
I just do not know why didn't they implement it in the TCG Live. They should make something for everybody but good. Now it seems we will have two apps and most probably both "not perfect" or "under development". Thanks for the video. Keep going!!

Thank you very much for the crystal clear explanation!!
I hope they keep both apps going. Fast battles and a full simulator can co-exist.

DeNA is an experienced mobile game developer and TPCI…is not. I don’t foresee any of those types of technical flubs from Pocket.
This is like Yugioh Master Duel and Yugioh Duel Links; they co-exist but they’re different games with different audiences.
I was wondering where all the beginner player content went with the TCG makeover. Now I know!
All this just for what? Why couldn’t they work on TCG live🤦🏻♂️

I cant wait for this game

Pokemon haven't said anything about how logins will work yet.
Marvel Snap for Pokémon...
Not gonna play this if they dont allow migration from TCG live.
