Paul Wylie. Along with Curry, and Cousins exemplified the beauty of artistry. Figure skating has morphed into a vertical sport. Jump, jump and jump which is why I no longer watch it. Paul Wylie, I will never forget you!!!!💕 💕 💕
Still my all time favorite skater! He could do it all jump, spin, and interpret music. The skaters today are all about doing the Quad, there's no artistry. Paul is a true artist!
Paul Wylie had everything to make his programs touch the audience. He was a perfectionist in his artistry and conveying the message to each person in the arena. I was fortunate to see him skate in person many times. No other skater moved me to tears, not only during his farewell but because of the beauty of the entire skating program. Doesn't seem to exist now. It is all about the quad and other jumps. Artistic skating is not valued like it once was.
Yes you will always go the distance Paul. So proud of you and so honored privilaged, thankful blessed and blown away at what a gift treasure and gem that you are, brother of mine. You are and will always be my hero.
Wow, some of the best toe point and stretch in any male you'll ever see. Plus, fantastic spins and that last spreadle eagle section was *sigh* just heavenly.
One of my favorite skaters, and probably the best artistic skater to have lived. My favorite is the one he did to the music from JFK, but this was wonderful too
Paul is such a class act. I don't follow figure skating much anymore and after seeing this again I realize that I'm not missing much. The skaters today just can't compare to to Paul, Kristi, Scott, Brian and the like.
totally agree- I have hundreds of hours caught off TV of performances by Curry, Cousins and those in the 70s and 80s when skating was actually skating and not just one jump after another it's a pleasure to re-watch them instead of todays "skaters"- skating is gliding and holding a position, not just jumping
I remember watching this performance on TV on his goodbye special and BAWLING my eyes out, and i was so blessed the year he did this routine i got to see him live during Stars on Ice, FOREVER a fan
Awesome, fantastic. Again,Paul if it hadn't been for your article in brio mag. I would of never learned to go the distance in overcoming my biggest fears. I do love you Paul and I'm so grateful and thankful for an older brother like you. You are an answer to my hearts prayer. Hugs
I couldn't agree more. Unfortunately with the "change on scoring rules" this type of skating is going to be a dying art. Figure skating was always about artistry, yes technical execution is important, but it's the artistry that sets it apart from other sports. Wylie and Eldredge have given us gifts that we could only dream others would continue. And speaking of spins look at Wylie's execution of the back scratchers, when and how, as you said, leaves one breathless.

Scott, Paul and Jason Brown has the same elegant style. Adam Rippon has it too.
