  • Welcome to the Rear Deck Rebuild series in my #jonboattobassboat ! This will be video three of the series, documenting from start to finish, a complete rebuild of my rear stern casting deck. As you will see in the video, I am doing a version 2.0 redesign of the boat rear end to accommodate my new ePropulsion Navy 3.0 electric outboard and Navy 48v lithium ion battery. I'll cover everything in this series as usual, from the gut job of the rear casting deck, all the way to mounting the last hinge. Topics documented are but not limited to: rear deck gut and retro fit, removing foam, cutting framing and stows, removing wiring and electronics, removing hatches struts and hinges, shopping at Home Depot for new materials, custom ripping framing, rear deck design, aluminum subframe supports, materials list and explanation, installing framing package and weighing, adding ply divider structural supports, final paint new framing, reconnecting wiring w solder connector, new bilge pump, adding livewell access, new led lights install, hidden wiring aluminum tracks, new hatches build, sealing hatches in fiberglass resin, carpet install, new battery tray, battery tie down, new hatches struts and hinges install, and of course all tools and techniques used!!! I hope you enjoy the documentation of this new stage of the #topgunjonboat ! _______________________________________ FOR MORE INFORMATION REGARDING EPROPULSION AND THEIR ELECTRIC OUTBOARDS AND BATTERIES, PLEASE USE LINKS BELOW: ePropulsion Navy 3.0 Electric Outboard | 6HP: www.epropulsio... ePropulsion E Series Lithium 48v Batteries: www.epropulsio... _______________________________________ Check out a wonderful Georgia owned apparel company and supporter of the channel: www.pt5fishing... Great work Sir! My son and I stumbled onto your boat build videos and inspired us to convert our old 1436 John boat. We’re currently framing the front deck. We both love the shark jaws on your boat and we plan on adding the same to ours. Again awesome boat build! God bless!

    Man
    I thought I was ocd.
My man even painted the staples! Holy cow great job. I'm needing to build a hatch cover for my tracker grizzly 1648sc. Still scratching my head on this build. It houses bilge , livewell pumps, batteries etc . Trying to seal it as best I can but with the outboard , steering cables etc it's gonna be a challenge. Anyhow thanks for sharing. Go skin's

Get you some Dow 732 aluminum color silicone. Shits indestructible and matches the grey boats.

Hey bro, I did my corners exactly the same as you do (thanks) a nice pair of super sharp scissors works so much better for cutting those corners...I use the Weis shop shears from home depot. Like a hot life through butter

Anthony, how long do you let your paint dry before recoating? I'm following most of your methods, and am even using the same brand of paint. The back of the can says Recoat after fully dry which is usually 24 hours. Do you usually wait that long? It's a pain in the neck trying to paint the framing when I have to wait a day for each coat doing 3 coats minimum. Thanks

Man I just recoat as soon as I can touch it gently without it being tacky. Just depends on the temperature and how thick you put it on. If its wood framing, the pores will stack it up quick , ive literally put coats on 20 mins later but with hatches and stuff I've had to wait hrs. I usually hit it and check it in a few hrs or leave it overnight though never wauted 24 hrs nor read instructions lol. Also never had a problem with the end result. In video I coat edges because if I coat whole thing it will be tacky to touch when carpeting so I found it best to oaint edges and area carpet will lap, then do final paint after carpet is on and before i mount hinges.
