One of my fave things about South Park is how even though it's very much an adult show with adult themes they still manage to make the boys realistically act like typical 9 year olds
I always found it odd how it has both toilet humor and political and situational humor, its like it deliberately targets young children to watch it, every kid I knew growing up in elementary school, including myself loved this show and always talked about it during class and recess and would always repeat the offensive and racist jokes, I wonder if it actually was intentional
@@michaelwalden4411 yea off the top of my head I can't think of any times they used the line but the doctor has always said things like this everytime he appears lol
@@madduxnagel6935 Funny thing is, much later after this episode, the mother from the movie Hereditary would do an almost exact copy of this performance in that movie in their funeral scene. I honestly think Hereditary stole that scene from this episode.
No one is going to talk about how Cartman managed to within 24 hours fabricate enough paperwork to get Butters enrolled as a brand new student under a completely new identity? 🤣
I certainly wouldn't be able to do that in a day.... But Cartman tricked a guy into having his own parents killed and then stole the bodies and cooked them into chili in the same timeframe. He also summoned and befriended Cthulhu
A friend of mine works in the ER, one night the police came with something that looked like slaughter offal in a bag. They just needed a professional to declare/sign that the person didn't live :S
His first appearance was actually in the Butters' Very Own Episode back in season 4, and yes, he's been popping up quite a few times. Personally, I think more often would be overkill, and would dilute his presence. Trey and Matt are mostly doing a great job knowing how often to use certain recurring characters and jokes.
I love episodes like this where the kids are just being kids and have such wild imaginations. I love thinking about how Cartman is so diabolically genius yet gets duped by a paper fortune teller
It's easy to forget that the boys are just 10 years old and are often quite immature. They think that is a future telling device but it isn't. They can act so grown up at times and so mature for their age and they go and do something like this. Really shows the brilliance that Matt and Trey have. I like to think that Matt and Trey are still just little boys at heart.
@@dash.reacts ya, know what kinda makes Butters quite an admirable character? Its that in spite of his parents totally going mental, he keeps his innocent and clueless demeanor. Cheers x
My favorite South Park Halloween special would probably be “Nightmare on FaceTime.” It’s not Elm Street-related, but instead they take Randy and have him reenact The Shining for the most pathetic reasons. 😂
It’s funny that this isn’t one of Matt and Trey’s favorite episodes since they think it’s too messy of a story but that’s what makes it so great! It’s chaos and the kids are behaving like normal kids. It really is the perfect recipe for a good SP episode imo.
“Who’s butters?” In context is one of the darkest lines in this show. Obviously we know it was a pig, but if you put yourself in the shoes of anyone else who didn’t know that (especially his mom) she just saw her son commit suicide, was in extreme denial when they were burying him and regardless of if it was real or not will be traumatized for life, and the whole POINT of this was so none of the girls question why butters disappeared. For them to not even know who he was means the mom suffered through like days (maybe weeks) of this for absolutely no reason. But somehow South Park makes that subject matter FUNNY, that’s how good they are
This is also a mashup of The Monkey's Paw (short story from 1902). A married couple wishes for money and get it when their son dies horribly in a factory accident, then they wish him alive again, but he's still mangled, etc. The last wish is for him to be dead again.
i think episodes like this that stilll work even tho they dont cover a current topic or problem are the absolute best, since this is completely original, its amazing they came up with this stuff on their own.
Never really liked reaction videos, but your videos are really good. I love how assorted and mature you are about themes episodes are trying to convey, and I LOVE how you pin point the references south park makes
I just binged every one of your South Park episode videos over the day, and they're great! I think you'll enjoy the episodes "Magharitaville" and "Cartman's Incredible Gift"
Aw man it's been ages since I've watched Pet Sematary and just now seeing that one little scene I just recognised Fred Gwynne (Herman Munster) for the first time in this movie.
Bro, HOW did I not notice the name connection between Butters and Marjorine? I’ve watched this episode like 3-5 times the past couple years and that never clicked.
1:17 I don’t know if it’s where it comes from but around 1984, kids in South Korea used to play with those. (They didn’t have a name for it when I asked)
You gotta check out "Breast Cancer Show Ever"!! Also, Heidi Turner, the host of the slumber party, became a lot more important several seasons later! 8:30 That's a clear reference to "Bebe's boobs destroy society", since she says that line.
I may be the only person to say for a go to movie mine is HALLOWEEN...but the Rob Zombie version. I like that it was updated to be a more realistic version of a kid who was already a psychopath growing up in a horrible family life then growing up to be a HUGE MAN with super freaky strength. It take the supernatural element out of the story, to which most people didn't like but I did. My favorite horror movie is IT chapter One. A great take on a Steven King classic imho.
