One of my favorite birds I saw last year when I went to Maine. Hope to see more in June when I go back!

I agree PPs are the very definition of cuteness. If more people knew how cute they were, more people would want to help conserve them, but then more people would also want to go to the beach to see them, and the added traffic could be a hinderence. Great video

As someone working as a PiPl monitor at a beach, people know very well how cute they are, and some of them still throw hissyfits about how we’re “trying to take the beach away from them”. Way too many people have Plover Derangement Syndrome.

My goal this year is to see them on the sand dunes of West Michigan. They're adorable!

Got that right Bob! They are soo cute. I see them on the beaches and love how fast their feet move. Not sure if they’re the same exact kind. I always called them Sand Pipers. Good job bringing awareness to them. Great camera BTW!

I love the way they run along with their body so steady. Great camera work Bob.

They are SPEEDY! As for great camera work, you should see all the failed shots. When they get up a head of steam, they're harder to follow than flying birds.

They are surprisingly speedy. Panning involved twisting my body to follow them in ways that my body hasn't done in a while, LOL.

Seeing that one Piping plover looking out toward the ocean reminded me of Bobby Darin's love song, Beyond the Sea. Great video❤

"The best way to not look like a threat to a threatened bird is... don't look like a threat!"
That made me laugh so hard. Sometimes common sense is so hard to come by that it's comical. Excellent video.

I believe you're correct on the pairing up. I noticed toward the end of your video a PIPL sashaying up to another bird. So cute.

Thanks for showing this cute tiny plover. I hoped to see him at Bolivar Flats in Texas, but unfortunately I missed him. The breeding area was fenced there, not in Maine?

Im in a city next to a river / bay area . In R.I. 2 months ago on my way to the store on my bicycle i saw a baby piper , he looked like a meatball size . A couple days later i saw the parent . I started leaving rice for them and whistle for them . They're still shy , but dont run away. I keep my distance. They are in a parking lot quite away from the water . They seem content ? Im gonna try sitting there quietly and see the response ... they are so cool ! 😊

I got to see about 5 chicks and maybe 3 adults in a closed off conservation area. They were within 40ft from the edge. Though it was very sunny and the photos didn't come out great

For thumbnails - Photoshop. For video, two cameras. One for far, one for near. Only, I wasn't expecting to make a video that morning and didn't even bring my little camera.😊
